I'll be honest guys I am not as big of a fan of the GonG stems as everyone else. I got it to give somewhat milky hits (compared to my silicone stems) by putting a cotton filter at the end to make it more restricted. But nothing works better then the classic silicone bowl or the SS bowl on the nylon stems. Still love the GonG stem for flavor tho :p

Hmm just curious about how much herb are you using, and is your screen placement closer on the silicone stem compared to the gong? Also what kind of silicone stem? I use a chiseled thick walled piece.

I just did a side by side, because I was curious. I didn't notice much difference if any. However my silicone is pretty old, a newer piece might provide better suction.

At least with my GonG vs Silicon the glass provides a looser fit allowing more air to flow from the sides and not be forced through the heater entirely. The silicon is tight fitting so I know all air passing through my product has passed the heater for a stronger hit.

I use tiny amounts just a bit more then covering the screen. My silicone stem only has about a quarter inch from the herb to the end of the silicone. Real close so it cooks it supr goooood. And ya the tight fit makes for a more powerful heat, the gong brings in too much cool air for my liking. But I still like th gong for favor!!!!!

Well I was looking forward to using my new dog today made it all the way to the east coast in 2 days! Usps tracking said out for delivery this morning 8am... Then the mailman doesn't come around til 5pm (usually here before noon) and did my whole street in under 2 min. Im so sure he had it in his truck just didn't feel like getting out and walking it to my door. Looks like I'll have to wait til tmrw for my dog thanks to my dead beat lazy ass scumbag mailman!

So I'm really digging this new dog.

It really rocks with 13.8 volts pumping through it!
I don't think I'll be leaving it on unattended until I can tone it down a bit.

I want to try the new elfin analog/digital power supply, so I just asked Dave for a tattoo cord. I had this pyramid laying around and just got a 12v car cord in with something else and I did not need it, so I'm glad it fit the dog perfectly. I also have a few boxes of 12v wall warts and more 12v car plugs to hunt through so I'm sure that I have other stuff that will fit. I will look for a suitable wall wart, but between the above and the elfin I'm totally set for now.

This red rosewood twig hits hard with tiny loads out of the nylon stem @13.8v!
Out of the gate, it seems more efficient than anything that I've used this side of the sublimator, although I acknowledge that I have not tried certain screen mods yet with the ssv/lsv. And out of my old combustion bong, that has been adapted for 14mm and cleaned but evidently not rocksalted yet, with larger (but still small) loads it rips like a mule.

It's a little smaller than I thought it would be, I just love it aesthetically and ergonomically. It works well with the pinnacle wt, but as I learned last night with my shortened ascent adapter that's a recipe for disaster (at least the wt survived). I like using it upside down with a bigger piece better anyways. The load above came close to combusting, with this much voltage I am learning to use smaller loads that are more like 1-hitters. My working theory atm is this is because they're further away they seem to cook more evenly. I'm looking forward to refining my technique with this dog, because it's a keeper!

It's even smaller around on top than the base of the wt.

So I got my rainbow poplar a few days ago and wanted to share my thoughts.

I learned something about USPS. Don't rely on their tracking system. My package arrived on Friday morning and it said out for delivery. Then it didn't come with the mail, but the tracking system said it was delivered. I went to the PO sat morning with my tracking number, they knew nothing. They said it was either delivered or lost and I should file a claim. Then Saturday I caught my mailman and he didn't have it for me, I explained the situation, luckily he was a nice guy (different guy from the day before) and checked the back of the truck for me, and there it was! Scanned as delivered. He had no idea why.

So obviously just a random thing, could of happened to anyone. But after dealing with the PO worker, the mailman, and the post master I learned they have really crappy customer service and it takes like a month for the insurance payment should something go missing. I think ideally if I were to purchase something valuable again especially from an individual id be reluctant to trust USPS and feel much safer with UPS or FedEx.

But anyway on to the vape... This thing is so efficient! The main reason I wanted a log vape is superior efficiency and I'm still trying to figure out how I get so much from so little. I love the small bowl, it's prefect for the tiny amount I need with my low tolerance. Definitely happy with my purchase, it'll pay for itself in no time with the amount of bud it saves.

I'm still experimenting with the VVPS but I've been starting the bowl at 12.5, get about 2 clouds then turn it up to 13.7 to for one last hit. My bowls are pretty small like just enough to cover the screen.

I'm wondering about what is the highest safe voltage? It seems after searching the thread the general consensus is 13.7- .8. The reason I ask is I don't really use my abv and I like to leave the bowl as dark as possible without combustion.

I'll do 13.6-14V but always turn it back down before 5 minutes.

I only go to 13.8-14V when I'm doing concentrates though.

Just ordered a Dog in Red Rosewood! Can't wait to pair it up with my RooR using the WonG. I'll post some pics when she arrives. I ordered it with the brick power adapter and after reading through this thread it seems that the adjustable version is way more popular. Will the regular, non-adjustable adapter work alright? Or should I go ahead and order an adjustable?

Hey Randy - looks like your package just went out today.. should be there soon. The stock (brick) power supplies run the Dogs at near max power so you shouldn't suffer from lack of heat (at least most users don't). I'd say try it out and then decide if you think you need to be able to adjust the temp up or down and go from there. :peace:

I've been using the underdog vapes for nearly 2 years, and my dog is almost always plugged into the regular, non-adjustable wallwart adapter!
I have it plugged into a surge suppressor/regulator though.

Thanks so much for this response. I was looking for some reassurance.

And thank you Dave for shipping out my UD so quick!

I'll give an update when she arrives :D

has anybody noticed that rotating the ud on the bowl while vaping gives you thicker clouds, especially if the the material has been vaped couple of times before. It works with silicone water pipe adapter for ex. You can get an "extra" cloud without stirring again

I second the wall wart advice. Got a VVPS with my dog and the cord broke after about three weeks. Not Dave or Underdog's fault, the culprit was the tattoo end of the cable that connected to the PSU. Opened it up and there were some brown-looking burning/oxidation marks on the metal. I'd definitely been putting some stress on the thing, but I ran mostly on 13.3-13.9V on the VVPS and I do not feel any lacking with the 12V Linksys router wall wart I've temporarily assigned as my daily vapor driver. On top of that it's overall less clunky than the VVPS while generating significantly less heat.

Just put in an $80 accessory order with some aromatherapy stuff, three more GonG adapters (so I can just pack five at once and have no hassle for hours), a wall-wart supply and a ten foot extension cord. I happen to live near a store that sells tattoo power supply cables, but I'm not even sure I miss the VVPS enough to replace it. That's saying a lot, I love gadgets and dials.

Got a new discrete container for my materials to match the aesthetics of the dog on my coffee table. Loving it.

talking about thicker clouds - i tried pre-heating the Gong by putting it on the dog for a min or two to get the glass hot, then load the herb then hit. could be my imagination but seems like i can produce clouds faster/thicker that way.

Certainly can! Although even 10 seconds would do the trick probably.
One caveat might be if you're trying to load it by scooping a container of ground herbals with the ultra-heated glass stem.

Also not a good flavor saver. But that's not always the goal ;)

Really enjoying my underdog lately. It cut literally cut my consumption in half.

Question about the using the VVPS, say my piece is all warmed up at 12v, if I raise it to 13v, how long until the temp fully changes? I've been giving it about 5 min. Also how long if I'm at 13v I drop it to 12v, till the temp lowers? My dog is twig size.

Glad to hear you're digging your UD. I'd say 5 minutes is a good amount of time for a temp change, it won't fully stabilize to the new temp in that time but practical purposes it'll be close enough. :2c:

Where can someone get an extension cord, for some reason mine keep shorting out and it's not cost effective buying them every couple of months directly from Dave.

Extension cords like the 10', 15' and 30' ones we have on the website?
