cant get my brand new lsv to create thick vapor.. barely can see it in when vapo-bonging.. is there any tweak or mine is crippled?

Where is your temperature setting? How are you filling the WPA? Is it the short or long WPA? Are you pulling very hard or nice and steady?

it is the LONG wpa that came with the lsv.. temperature settings at the max, always.. seems like the "led" only turns on after its on 50%.. i dont know its broken or its normal?? tried all the ways of pulling..
filling it with 0.4~0.8g (25% of the WPA capacity, i guess)

Whoa, temperature at max? Mine will automatically combust the load at that temperature.

When you say the long WPA that came with the LSV, do you mean the wand or the actual ground glass spherical joint? I have no experience with the long WPA and have heard it can be tricky to use with great success because of the length. I find that the speed at which I draw can have a huge effect on the thickness of the resulting vapor.

I would say this is a medium draw. I'm not pulling extremely hard. The bowl is only filled halfway. Temperature setting is at 11 o'clock, but mine runs hot.

I guess the problem has something to do with the "potencimeter" (READ: THE KNOB).. The "power" led only turns ON when it's about of 50% of the potencimeter level, at 12' o clock (47%~ to be more exact, not really 12', more like 11:30 lol)

and when i put it at 100% it looks like the power isnt really at 100%, you know? i've seen some LSV's heater much more brighter than mine does.. it had some "resistency" when turning the knob to left or to the right, but it has gone after some hours of usage..
but other brand new LSV that I had, had a very smooth and working "since 10%" of power..

(yeah, I had another LSV that burned after 5mins of usage, then I contacted 7th floor and paid a little more and theyve sent a brand new one, just the STICK itself with no glasses and etc.. but thats subject for another post, just synthetizing it)

my first hits WITH THE GLASS WAND never make clouds (cant see anything, just a weak taste), and after 8-10 hits I start seeing some vapor (because the herb is drier, already), but still very weak..

and when vape-bonging (with the joint adapter that came with it) I NEVER see vapor clouds.. i'll make a video when i have time to upload it (tonight)

Just modded my Long WPA! I was cursed with the long WPA after I bought a WPA (with no specification if it was long or short) from VaporNation. I wanted to try Tweak's EQ dome screen mod, but my LHS didn't carry them and I'd have to pay a shitload of shipping to buy them online. So I picked up a dozen of medium and large screens for a $1. My goal was to create a pouch-like shape, resembling something like the EQ dome screen. I can vape at lower temps now, but I'm not noticing any increase in vapor thickness. I'm still happy with the mod though. Here's a picture-

I finally broke my last wand for my LSV and need a new one ASAP and at the best price possible, are there any online stores located in Canada that sell it? If not what's the cheapest from USA that ships to Canada?

It would cost me $60 for one shorty wand on their website, if there isn't a better price for replacement parts my LSV is going in the garbage, there's no way I'm paying $60 each time the wand breaks, if they think they can rip off their customers both on the item cost as well as on shipping they don't deserve our business and I'll find a new vaporizer with reasonably priced parts and shipping. It sucks that one of the best vapes is sold a company that thinks they can rip off their customers like that, to charge $30 to ship something that clearly costs under $10 to ship is outright fraud.

I've had my LSV for about 2 years and have broken 2 wands in that time. Me and glass really don't get along and I was honestly expecting to break more than one wand per year.

Even at one wand per year that's $60/year in replacement parts.

Plus I haven't even mentioned that they about tripled the wand cost since I bought the LSV.

I just checked and they charge reasonable shipping (~$7) within USA, so I'm wondering if it's just laziness on their part to program their website to charge actual shipping on international orders so they make it charge the maximum shipping cost no matter what you order, they even charge $30 to ship a set of screens, that's really absurd.

I think this could merit a complaint to the BBB for very abusive shipping charges.

As much as I like 7th Floor products, I hate that add-ons are often where they jack up the price (ridiculously). It's like printers: you can often get a decent printer (Canon, Epson, HP, etc) for less than cost price. You quickly find out that they get you on the replaceable parts when your (half-full) test cartridges run out and you end up paying twice as much as you paid for the printer on some replaceables that'll last you a few hundred pages. I refill my printer cartridges by hand now. It's messy but I'll be damned if I'm paying a 1000% mark-up for that shit.

Regarding the printers and ink, it's just different business models. Sell the printers wayyyyy cheap and make up for it on the cartridges, or............sell the printers at a very nice profit margin and sell the cartridges at normal pricing.

In my opinion, it's totally unreasonable to think that you could buy a printer at these steeply discounted prices and not expect to pay a premium for the carts.

I should clarify that I never said both the printer and cartridges should retail for less than cost - a company wouldn't last long if they did that. My argument is one for honesty in their sales practices. I worked at an electronics store for many years and witnessed the droves of customers that were astounded and outraged when they tried to replace their original cartridges. I can empathize with the feeling of being cheated. If you have the thing for a while, the cost grows exponentially over time.

Now you could put forward a libertarian argument and say that as customers they should've done the research beforehand, and while I agree to some extent, that's often not practical. Not everyone has unlimited time to research every single product they invest in. When you invest in a particular company (especially a big name company like the ones listed in my last post) you put some trust in them. These companies are abusing that trust and thus their relationship with their customers.

My synthesis is a pragmatic one. I'd be very happy to pay more for a printer/vaporizer upfront, as long as I know they're not marking up replaceable parts by 500%+. It'd be naive to think that they're unaware of the fact that many customers don't find out until it's too late. It's simply dishonest.

I guess we just have tolerance levels that are a bit different on certain things. I too was a bit dismayed when I first had to buy some carts for my Canon, but when I looked back and realized the ridiculously low price I paid for the printer, I thought, "Yeah, it's a bit steep but it kinda makes sense." I guess if I used the printer a LOT and went through cartridges on a monthly basis, I'd be a bit more concerned.

Agreed, but it was an analogy for 7th Floor products/sales practices (although admittedly a bit of an extreme one). I was just surprised to hear that the wand for the LSV was $60. Some of the replaceable parts for my SSV have been quite steep, but I don't think anywhere near that mark-up (vapeguy said they've tripled in cost in the last 2 years).

EDIT: Ah, my mistake. Postage is $30 of that (still adds up to the same total though). Hope that you're able to get it sent via a cheaper option, vapeguy.

The wand is not 60. It's 30 (see pic I posted up above). It's the additional 30 dollars shipping that brings it up to 60, but he shouldn't have to pay that with the links I posted above.

Ok I'm confused the shorty is only $28 and flat rate international shipping is only $20, how on earth do these cost you $60

The following is an email from 7th Floor on how to fix this problem:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for contacting 7th Floor. I will provide you instructions on how to keep the heater element in place, but keep in mind, you could pull or cross wires which would render the unit broken and you would have to send it to us for repairs. It sounds like you need to keep the heater element in place and this could fix all your problems. Pull the heating element up gently and hold the cap and shim down, to prevent the cap and shim from being pulled out. On the side of the heating element, close to the bottom as it is coming out of the cap, you will see the letters "STD-". Pull the heating element out til you see the dash and then slightly twist. Slightly twist. This should hold the heating element in place.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a pic of this somewhere. I just need to find it.........

Edit: Found it:

He also said his LSV wasn't switching on until the "knob" was turned about half way round so I'm guessing that could be causing the problem because my LSV comes on after only turning it a tiny fraction.

Is the LSV that you own the proper voltage for your output? I know that voltages vary between countries in South America. If you have a 220 volt unit and you have only a 110 volt output then you are going to get substandard operation. If its the opposite way around then your unit probably shouldn't be working at all.

Regarding the wand issue I had a little thought.

Could you just use a standard glass joint like glass blowers use for making pieces since they normally come with a bit of tube attached?

male.jpg

Is the shape of the mouthpiece essential to stop any bits of material entering the mouth of the user? Personally I ended up double screening mine as I was suffering from that issue with the standard wand anyway. Also I guess some people may find the larger diameter uncomfortable to use, maybe some sort of simple mouthpiece attachment might be a solution to both these potential problems.

I'm guessing there'll be an issue with getting the screen to stay in place with the lack of ridges to hold it but maybe by getting a screen that is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the tube, then you could push it in so it curves slightly to hold in place.

I found an example of what I'm talking about in the link below after only looking for a few minutes.

http://saltcityglass.com/products/lenz-male-ground-joint/

I know it might be a bit short for some people's taste, although I know some people like the wand shorter for more flavour, but I assume that joints can be obtained with different lengths of tube if you look hard enough.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and there are other functions the wand is performing that you wouldn't get with a standard tube but I just thought this might save people a considerable amount of money on replacement wands.

Unfortunately I live in the UK so I can't test the theory with that particular piece otherwise I'd be happy to do so. I'll be glad to hear people's thoughts on this as a viable alternative.

I'm at 220v but I'm using a power adaptor to 110v. The problem isnt with the converters, I already tried a few, its the same. The heater element looks like "only a half" of it becames brighter (orange), looks weak.. I'll post a picture for you right now..
