Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

IRIE - from reading most of this thread, it looks like depending on your wiring situation, just about everyone should put it on a surge protector - just to safeguard against a spike that would fry the element (which seems to happen often with the older versions of the wand).

If you have really bad circuits, with large electronics coming on and off on them - then you would also want to look into possibly a voltage regulator - but that would only be for the very extreme cases. A $15 surge suppressor should suffice.

Thanks again for the reply, ctk2011. Does it matter how many joules my surge protector is rated at? How do you like that Headford bubbler? I've been looking into buying one.

Quick review of the VHW experience:

I received a 2.0 VHW in a trade couple of weeks ago. Now that I've had some time with it, I think I can give a nice overview. Especially when comparing it to, what I feel, a close reltaive - the herborizer. Overall, they both achieve the same thing, but they are almost completely different in experience.

The herborizer is like the iolite of waterpipe vapes. It's simple to use and quick to setup. However, it takes a long time to vaporize the material. I find myself taking 10-15 hits to finish almost any size bowl. This isn't always bad, especially if you want to stretch out a session. You can also leave the heater in the bowl, which is very convenient. But if you are in a hurry or your throat is a little dry, it can be irritating. The VHW, on the other hand, can vape a small bowl in 3-4 hits (after priming). It's also very quick to setup. But because of the wand, you need to have a area setup to put the wand down.

Here is the part that surprised me the most, taste. I know, Vriptech and most owners state that it is the premium connoisseur vape on the market. Having had something close to an SSV and a herborizer, I thought having a tastier or cleaner taste experience was impractical/impossible. I did not think that stainless or ceramic could change flavor. My first big hit with the VHW was a revelation. The taste was cleaner! It is a subtle difference. Not saying everyone with ceramic heaters should trash it, but Vriptech ain't lying when they say that they have the most neutral airpath on the market.

Overall, the VHW is great for what it was designed for. It isn't my daily driver, but every tastey strain I get will have a bowl or two vaped with it. The taste experience is amazing, especially if you've used a few other vapes before.

This thread has been a great read over the past few days! This may be a dumb ? but I am wondering if I can vap kif w v 3.0? Think I saw some bubble hash being done on youtube w a vhw but that would have been v 2.0 or earlier and possibly w settings tweaked (which I don't plan on doing w my vhw). Just curious if kif/hash is off the table once I go vap. Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Xian, Throw a bunch of the kif on some ground up herb and you got yourself one hell of a nice day. As far as hash goes, you would just have to get it as finely chopped/ground as possible.

IRiE - the little Headford bubbler works amazingly well with the wand, in fact, it is now my main method.

I've been using the wand now daily for a week, and I have to say, it has been the best vape experience that I have had to date. The volume of the hits is the big change that I am noticing, and I also notice that my high is definitely heavier.

My usage has gone up as a result :ko:

I do think small-volume pieces work better with the wand, or at least when compared to the large inline WRKD tube that I have. WIth the tube, I get barely any visible vapor - where the bubbler gives me big fluffy vapor clouds.

My inline tube might have too little drag + too much volume, I don't know; the first attempt, my hit actually pulled the screen sideways and dumped a full bowl of prime ground up Romulan right into the water (UGH).

So far, I'm sticking with the bubbler + VHW.

No prob, Bob.

CTK, that sucks, but I'm sure you had more where that came from! I just got my VHW this morning. Only problem was, that my stoned ass ordered the 18.8 GonG when I really needed the 14.4... I had to reorder that 14.4 joint, but I'm keeping the other in hopes of getting that headford piece. I was able to take the downstem out of my bong and fit the 18.8 joint and voila! Perfect fit. The downside is no water, no fat clouds, kinda harsh, but damn I'm high off of about .5g of some dank Trainwreck from the dispensary. Can't wait to try the Grand Daddy Purp before bed. It will do until the 14.4 comes to me.. So far so good!

UPDATE: Despite having no downstem, I have mastered the art of milking the first 2-3 hits. After that, I will stir it and get 1 or 2 more. Does anyone know if I should be getting more hits than this? I use it at about 75% power with a surge protector. I am extremely happy with my purchase! High as a flippin kite right now.

With covering the screen and a lil bit more I get about 2-3 hits fom a 16" Toro, I'd say you are doing it right. :)

Just covering the screen is about the amount of a log vape bowl. I'm amazed that this can still be efficient. Vapor is nowhere near as dense when you load more herb though.

Vriptech Inc. is by far the biggest scam I've ever encountered. $200+ for a device that's guaranteed to break all on its own within four months? And to be clear, this happened with the first version and the second one. And God forbid you try to have a reasonable discussion with the owner Mark McCoy. The guy is a real dousche bag who is intent on harshing everyones mellow. Disorganized company, takes forever to ship, they're constantly messing up payment orders, claim to "fix" the product while under warranty but send the same broken piece of crap back every time. But if you want to go ahead and get one, good luck finding a bowl that it fits into, not burning yourself, and preventing any intoxicated individual from somehow damaging this overly sensitive and definitely doomed piece of merchandise.

I've been through a lot of Vapes in my life and I can assure you, the wand is NOT worth the price or the hassle. Not to mention I get better hits from my old school wooden box and tubing, which I've had for over 5 years and it still works like a dream. Don't waste you're money on Vriptech. Give your money to a company that isn't made up of complete jackasses. I'd call for an all out boycott if I could

I have been dealing with Shadowvape and Mark directly for the past 3 weeks straight, and I can say that my experience has been excellent. Great customer service! ALSO, I would like to see ANY other vaporizer produce the milky white vrips that my VHW can do. Treat it with "loving hands" and it will love you back. It's not meant to be a party vaporizer. It's a delicate, medical-worthy, THC extracting instrument. So far, it has been worth every penny.

P.S. - Share the WHOLE experience if you want anyone to listen to you, instead of just slinging mud. Oh, and have fun with your box vape..

Love,
Scott

This and pretty much everything else in wandhaters post is untrue and absurdly spitefull

Both Mark and Shadowvape have helped me whenever asked, in a prompt and polite manner

Marc has even called to double check my satisfaction with a replaced item, stellar customer service

I think i am a bit of a critical person and had a few issues with the wand, never an issue that was not stated in the instructions which are posted on thier site which they implore intensely that you read before purchasing

But if you want to go ahead and get one, good luck finding a bowl that it fits into, not burning yourself, and preventing any intoxicated individual from somehow damaging this overly sensitive and definitely doomed piece of merchandise.

They sell a bowl that fits perfectly, or get BM to make a custom colored one, both are great options

Okay yes its made of glass, dont let your drunk friends use it

Its hot, they even go as far as to display that in writing on the wand in case the glowing doesnt give that away

My ONLY complaint is the silicone ring dries on on me in a manner of weeks

But Marc and Shadowvape have replaced them and state on this forum they will do the same for any customer

So yea great company, go spam elsewhere

Start off with a lil indica, use a sativa dom grape ape to motivaite through the rest of the day and the hazes to stay energized and fruity, and the kushes and skunkness to wrap it all up at the end of the day!!

So, I got bored one night and I figured I would show you guys what I was working with. I'm currently not using water with this particular piece because I'm waiting on a 14.4 GonG joint for this guy. I have hit it out of my buddies 16-arm tube (which is great), but the flavor and potency seems to be a little stronger without the water. Still testing that theory out, though. Anyways, if you're also bored and have 2 mins to spare, then take a gander.

IRIE Toker,
Got my VHW last week, it has been an eye-opening experience. :D

I have owned an "ebay box" and a hakko years ago.... but the VHW is not even comparable to those. The taste, the even brown the herb gets without ever combusting... I could go on. I was impressed with how it looked smaller and had thicker glass than I imagined. The glass stand is very sturdy as noted in previous pages, and I definitely recommend getting one.

The VHW has opened my world to vaping. It actually inspired me to immediately buy a MFLB. I think the LB should complement the VHW nicely as a quick and portable alternative!

What's most intriguing is the efficiency gain I have seen from the VHW as compared to smoking. I find that my cheaper material gets the job done just as well as smoking expensive stuff used to.... and I am using even less of that. I'm seeing roughly a 50% efficiency gain and using cheaper materials, which is a huge savings for me! We'll see how this lasts as my tolerance catches up, but it's looking good so far.

I do have a question about the silicone ring: It seems that mine is stuck to the glass. I have it positioned about .75 cm from the tip. There is no reason to move it at this point, but for some reason it still bothers me. I noticed that BM bowls don't require the silicone ring at all, which seems ideal... anyone know how much BM is charging for these? Any tips for loosening the silicone ring if need be?

Overall I'm very impressed with the VHW, and if you are mature enough to take care of one I highly recommend it! :2c:

Most of my friends who converted to vaping after smoking for years noticed that their tolerance was reset after a t-break. Then as long as they only vaped, there was really no tolerance increase over time. They also tried not to over medicate too often. Back on topic, insn't the VHW great? I'm gonna go take a hit off mine now :D

VAPOLITICS!
Little question to Da Professor: a little VHW vs. Herbo review would be much appreciated.
Though I'd love to know about VHW 3.0 (I understood people prefer 2.0 ones?) vs. Herbo new generation with the dimmer, I think your imputs could help me a bunch! ;)
