The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Loving the innovation and creativity.. A perfect gong balloon/mouthpiece setup? Nice! :)

Just scored a nice Colie Glass piece I just use a 18mm male<>hose adapter (or could use a spare elbow which is basically the same thing.. I just like this one because the hose is straight instead of a 90 degree elbow).

Never understood the elbow packing craze so much as with just a whip I prefer to modulate my inhales to actively stir the contents of the cyclone bowl, but admittedly, it does require one to at least pay some attention.

Loaded up an elbow, hooked up my Colie stemless shower head to 8-arm piece (I got to get pics of this thing, the top of the tree is actually worked!), and it makes a bit more sense - up front more production without the stir/cycling, and more hit-sized for just a couple of rips through a water piece; truly a different method though at a glance they look the same.

In other words, elbow packs now have my stamp of approval, but I think I still prefer the cyclone bowl for just a whip.

I got myself an Extreme Q at the start of this spring. I have chronic bronchitis (I was born with asthma) and have switched from smoking to edibles to vaping many times over the last 13 years (daily user), but always came back to smoking... despite the health issues.

But I am happy to say that I am smoke-free for more than 6 months now :rockon:The few drags from the spliffs that I've had since were just nasty, grim.

It took a while before I figured out how I could use my Q to get strong vape-hits that rivalled a spliff. I started off experimenting with the bags, because I'm very familiar with the Volcano's of my hometown's many coffeeshops, but I couldn't make them as satisfying as Volcano bags. The bagfilling process was kinda unwieldy and slow, too. Later I skeptically checked out the whip, which did give fantastic taste but lacked punch and was also SLOW, it took ages to clear two bowls.

Then I found this site and quickly decided to buy a suitable bong & try a vaporbong setup with my Q. I got a 20" glass bong with perc, and that has been a great match from the start. Once I found out about hot water, instead of the cold/iced water I had been using, I started to get real good hits.

(the long tubing creates some drag but is worth it for the freedom.. also, the Q's pedestal has wheels underneath)

I find that the Q's components need a fair bit of cleaning, so I try to clean all the glass every other day (with current daily use of +-1.5gr). Not that much of a bother really. Also, the glass components are surprisingly strong. I'm not even using a Tuff bowl, but I've fumbled the cyclone bowls many times, from standing height too, and have been generally WAY sloppy with the glass bits, but without any breakage. I did break the stirring tool (lost it, then stepped on it). Only had to replace tubing so far... nearly 5 months in, I expected worse!

I'm glad that I didn't go for a 2nd hand Volcano instead. They seem limited and overpriced now. A Verdamper is too fragile for me, and too finnicky for intensive use... and pricey. I like having a few good hits of a Verdamper in a coffeeshop to judge the quality of a new strain though. Haven't tried a SSV, I'm kinda curious.. Sublimator looks cool too, obviously :haw:

Now that I'm familiar with the Q+bong combination I'm thinking of upgrading to a bigger glass piece, so that I can get even bigger/denser hits from my bowls. What is the practical limit for bong size in this situation? At which point would going larger mean getting too much drag for reasonable usage with a Q?

What is this about using hot water? I've never heard of it and I'm not sure why that would be better; would someone be kind enough to explain? Thanks in advance.

I'm using a Blaze Glass Stemless Bent Neck Disc Diffused Tube with an Arizer V-Tower. It's a great combination.

IIRC there is a thread about this, started by @Pappy.

The hypothesis is that the warmth will open up the bronchi more, resulting in greater vapor absorption and therefore a higher high. Some members are convinced of this.

However, as I recall Pappy spoke to his pulmonary specialist who discouraged the practice because of the vulnerability to bacteria that could result.

Warmer water releases more water vapour, providing extra moisture conditioning. It's that simple. It's a weird sensation when the hit feels warm and yet also less irritating, but it works. It doesn't make the same amount of vapour get you any higher, but it will allow you to take bigger hits than you otherwise could and hold them longer.

Myself, I can't be bothered waiting for the tap to warm up every time I want a session, so I mostly use room-temp water. Warm water works great for doing lungbusters, though, or for deflowering vape virgins that might be prone to hack up a lung. You'll be surprised how dramatically reduced the need to cough is. (Never go any hotter than the tap can get it, though. There's no benefit to doing so but there are added risks.)

Also, hot water can be combined with ice in a piece that has pinches or an ice ring. The additional moisture content added when passing through the warm water is mostly retained while passing through the ice stage; condensation losses are perceptibly minimal. This is useful if the "warm hit" sensation weirds you out too much, but is even more hassle than using warm water alone.

I've always been a big fan of using warm/hot water. The difference is incredible!

Salutations Anonymouse,

...extra moisture conditioning.

Your description sounded familiar somehow, i've evalutated a particular form of moisturization which otherwise i get at no aditional expense if i just pick my pipe instead (read "again"!)... Even a minute amount of moisture is a lot, actually.

I've had my EQ for over a year and it still works beautifully, I just love how much product it saves me. I've been wondering for awhile now, how should I clean all my pieces? To be honest, I hardly used it when I first received it now I use it daily and it's becoming quite gross looking. I was going to use 420 cleaner on the glass pieces but I'm still confused on what to do for the tubing.

Well I have had the EQ for years but havent used in a few years. I misplaced the power box and i never marked the power box as the vape box and whenever i came across a power box for lap top or portable dvdrw or other things around the house with one, i kept wondering if it was the one. i also use log vapes and can attest to their efficiently. they been keeping me happy for the past few years. But reciently been looking thru e-bay and saw on their what the power box for the EQ looked like. I found mine and quickly got re familiar with the EQ. loaded it up and enjoyed. Earlier today i overloaded the cyclone bowl and got real ripped my log vapes never got me so ripped. I like this vape. later i need to try the baloon.

Salutations Stu,

Satan, my friend.

Ah! Ah! M'well, that's one hell of an original introduction for sure!...

:lmao:

Soak all the glass and screens in ISO for a while and it'll come out like new.

...unless deposits have been left to cook hard i would argue, or there's an ultrasonic bath handy.

Lately i was wondering which material to substitute to that of my Arizer V-Tower PVC whip piece (exactly the same Kuriyama brand/NSF-51 series as with my HA v2.1, only larger). Ideally it would need to withstand 94 % concentrated grain alcohol, as frequent reclaims would be nice too... By chance i catched a statement about silicone in presence of alcohol...

Maybe i should ask my local (Mtl.) authorized Arizer retailer what to do when there's baked laquer inside that protruding elbow glass arm/conduit (...), or i guess one can simply try to explore resources referenced in the thread linked right above. Personally i'd want an elbow adapter with a hole in place of its glass arm (or more precisely the "elbow" in it!) so it won't work like a mechanical lever!! Even better: lets plug that hole with a teflon straw acting as the main interface between said elbow part and its whip PVC/silicone tubing. Mostly that's where one usually deals with deposits (in the adapter's arm) anyway, and if necessary then i suppose a silicone brace/cover could/would minimize mechanical stress on glass and yet maintain proper coupling with an articulated GonG junction.

In fact i recently noticed that Arizer now offers a silicone-coated version of their Cyclone bowl, so why not a sturdier "deluxe" top adapter with a choice of colours, a few weeks before Christmass!?...

Just replaced the cyclone bowl with a female-to-female adapter I found, couldn't find a screen that fit snugly, so jammed an elbow screen into the bottom joint (I know it's not terribly secure, but it hasn't slipped out yet).

Just a bit of bud in there started flying all around like a snowglobe... and put out a lot of vapor! Nice even toasty brown ABV, much more consistent than I've seen. Load up that bowl (I can fit just over a gram in there!) and your evening is set for cruise control!

This changes things. I plan to do heavy experimenting this weekend at the Gorge. Yes, I have a generator ;)

wow that's a crazy deal.. if i had a vapor genie i would swoop this up.. i wouldn't mind having an EQ again.. but after a little while, i didn't use it much either.. not w/ the UD hanging around.. some body better jump on this before i get my hands on a vapor genie hah
