As I promised in a few posts earlier, the HOPS Jagito!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um901avzRIo

this thing rips even better than the Luke Wilson bubbler!

AZN and Minnesnowta - I feel you on the LW slides, if mine were just a tad bigger I'd be ready to rock and roll with that slide
Sweeeeet dude. I noticed you weren't holding the vriptech at all in the beginning. How does that work?

Also, I figured out what my deal was with the not-so-vapory hits. I had way too much drag in my bong. :D

heres a size reference for you guys with the blazemaster bowl. perfect size, just deep enough and makes a good seal
just a tad bit bigger than a quarter

here you can see the chamfer he puts in the glass. The end of the wand has the same deal so they seal up quite nicely. You can tilt the wand too much sometimes which will create a gap so you have to watch that
de55ddd7.jpg

just to show how deep they actually are. i usualy only pack it to the 2nd dot. if i go to the 3rd i only have to be at half power and it comes close to combusting if your not careful

I totaly misunderstood you the whole day. I thought you just got the tube and the ash catcher not a bubbler too. You friggin robbed that guy. Looks 8000000000000 times better clean though

borosilicate fiend..
Jops inline is fucking sick... is it a harmonic? or just has slits at the top? Tube/inline looks nice too, did you score these used off of somebody?

Sm- I would have to say that for now I'm liking the tube with the inline better, I'm really able to milk it good with the blazemaster! The bubbler is awesome as well don't get me wrong, I just love giant giant rips.

Azn- It just has the slits, 10 I think, its a really nice piece to look at he does some sick sick work. Believe or not I got both these pieces combined off craigslist for 225, with a free tight-vac storage case, a grinder, and a dufflebag

I don't smoke much but I have difficulty sealing the air with the Vrip unit I bought. I will post pictures of my setup and hopefully someone can help me master the mechanics of bong ripping.

Also when do you stop taking hits? I stop right after the smoke gets very coarse. I could keep on going but just wondering when is it the optimal time to put the bong aside?

nilo - where are you having making a seal? from heatwand to the upper intake? a good way to see how good your seal is, is to connect the heat wand to the upper intake but without electricity. Now, breath in normally and check the airflow. Then plug up the two intakes on the wand itself, and see if you can still breath in. If you are able to breath in, then there is a leak somewhere... let me know if that helps

So my vriptech is malfunctioning...

I plugged it in to let it warm up for about 5 minutes, come back to find it the ceramic orange/red/bright/on-its way-to-white colored, and hot as hell - the red "on" light was remaining solid. As I quickly moved the potentiometer down to low, the red light flickered sporadically. At various settings, it may either warm indefinitely; flicker; or exhibit normal behavior... for a few seconds, and then it's back on the fritz.

Worst part of it all is the initial over-heating mishap led to tiny cracks in the glass on the top of the second heat-exchanging donut. The deformed glass now hugs the ceramic heating element so tightly that I cannot remove the glass cover for an air test in order to see if the cracking lead to a formidable leak.

I bought the vrip about 2 - 2.5 months ago, and had to reorder a glass cover a 1.5 months ago, as a result of impact damage (thx roomie). I used it pretty normally, always with a surge protector, and it did not come with a manual to inform me of any otherwise possible damage. Their "standard coverage for the VHW is three months on the element/electronics and one month on the glass against manufacturer based defects, i.e. element burns out or glass cracks from regular usage only..." [1] I assume I'll get a replacement wand, and since the glass cracks were a result of the warranty-covered damage as opposed to "regular usage only" I am hoping for a replacement glass cover as well. I don't care, I'll pay for shipping, but that's what I am hoping for :)

Time to go query customer service...
Just wanted to follow through over here. Got an email about 4 days after my report to info@vriptech.com from a CSR, and he forwarded me to Mark who emailed me about 10 days after my initial report. He's sending me a complete replacement wand. Never mind the delay - great service. TY vriptech now you just make me want to buy a heat gun too...

it's a very small operation so anytime they are unresponsive, it's almost 100% due to the fact that they overlooked it. If you ever have trouble, just let someone here know and we can escalate it to Mark to get more priority. One of the percs of being a fc.com memeber.

So I got the blazemaster bowl. WOW! I much prefer the blazemaster over the standard vrip stuff. Amazing hits.

There is a slight problem though. I can't get the screens to stay put so sometimes some herb will get sucked into the water... I'm sure other people have mentioned this. What do you guys do to keep it from happening?

For anyone who owns both, how does this unit compare with a SSV/DBV and if you could have one or the other which would you rather have? Aside from the taste the VHW gives is there any significant differences between the 2 as far as performance? Sorry if its been asked, not reading thru 51 pages.

It all comes down to preference. One is easier to use and more durable, while the other offers the finest vapor experience IMO.

If you are only interested in the effect, then both of them are comparable. If you are more interested in the flavor and having an all glass pass thru, then you should go VHW.

For me, I am very against using a whip now, I like to vape using all glass and it is much more pleasurable this way. I smoked primarily using bongs so this was a natural progression for me when I started vaping.

If vapor quality/taste isn't as big an issue and you want something more durable, then go with the SSV. Just think about what is important to you and the choice will be obvious

Nice stonemonkey, thanks. One more Q, I have a piece that I use for myself but I plan on using a vape w/ friends often and don't trust some of them(clumsy) with this piece...........I plan on buying a cheap bong just for when I use the vape with them. Besides the wand I would need the jet flo chamber bowl, shorty GonG lower stem and upper intake shorty correct?

As long as one bong is GonG and the other is grommet then yes that's what you'll need the upper bowl will be moved from one to the other

I know what you mean. My BM slide came with glass so smooth the screen was doing the mamba down there. I was scared to stir. I began to develop workarounds, which are below in order of ease:

1). Tilt bong back a bit, so bowl is completely upright and gravity holds the screen in place.
2). Let some condensed vapor accumulate in the bowl (eventually) to provide a less smooth surface for the screen to sit on.
3). Go to a shop and get a bigger screen, that would cover the entire bottom of the slide, maybe riding up the side a little bit.

I'm working on #2, and it's taking a while to coat... :p

Can't leave without mentioning how impressive the BlazeMaster bowl was for me on functional and artistic levels. The precision of the chamfer on the lip surface provides a perfect seal for the vhw, which leads to some dense vapor. You should have seen me jumping for joy as the inside of my tube disappeared in a thick vortex of fog-- I GOT MILK!!

i use a glass daisy in my bm slide
it works good enough for me :)
i haven't found a screen to fit it yet :/

I don't really like the glass daisy's with the BM. It seems like the airflow is just way to constricted, and I just never liked them because of that. I found that the best way is a screen in the shape of a cone, then I kind of groove out the edges and it sits pretty comfy, still falls out every time I'm done though :/

I cut a screen out about the size of a dime and put it in the actuall joint. So it catches everything that passes through the glass pinches. I have to clean it out after every bowl though. :/
