Vape pens?

keepsake

Soul Searchin`
So I was thinking about getting a pen for convenience. Every time I go to a friend's house I have to bring my LSV and it's sort of a hassle. I was wondering what is the quality of taste using a vape pen? I've never had the pleasure of trying concentrate of any kind. I also live in NV with no connection for oils or wax. I'll probably have to learn how to make it myself. But my main concern is taste... is it as good as vaping from my LSV?

IME, concentrates have a much stronger and intense flavor than smoking flowers. There are a lot of crappily built pens on the market though

are you sure it won't be more of a hassle to make concentrates then it is to just take the LSV?? not trying to discourage you but like wannavape said finding a quality vape pen can be a hassle in itself...

The Cera's flavor remains good ... apart from that I've found all concentrate vapes to kinda' destroy the flavor of the concentrate.

I'm picking up a used Rev/Dart as well so am hopeful for that ... I've also owned a Persei, and currently own a Cera and a VaporCone (the flavor is crappy with the VaporCone but it medicates quickly and discretely)

Jcat, is the cera LL an option for keepsake in terms of flavor and skip the concentrate making altogether?

i haven't really been paying attention to how the LL has been received...

I agree, but this only applies to well-made oil from quality material (ideally whole nugs). Oil made from shake/trim often has very little flavor, especially in a vape pen. I've used the micro g and omnicron a decent bit, and neither taste good unless you use exceptionally high quality oil.

Another point worth making is that it's not really cost-effective to make oil unless you have access to cheap flower/trim/shake. You lose some oil in the process (possibly a lot if you fuck it up), the cost of the butane ($6-8/can, 1-2 cans/oz of bud), and several hours of your day.

Yea I would look into the BHO process before you buy the pen. There are some initial start up costs and trust me it will take a couple batches before you produce anything decent.

I don't know, if you do your research right, it can come out well the first time. You just have to make sure you don't fall into the rookie traps.

By rookie traps, I mean:
  • Running the tube for too long. It differs depending on how much herb you have, but you don't want to spend any longer than fifteen seconds or so blasting because your just going to pull through crap.
  • Using really hot water for the initial butane purge. Don't touch that kettle. The hot water out of your tap is more than enough. It really ruins the rest of the product if you heat to much in the first little bit.
  • Also, getting to hot in normal purging. You don't want to go over 180F, this causes things to break down and makes the oil hard.
  • Too much whipping - this breaks the bubbles into smaller, harder to remove bubbles and causes it harden up. Whipping is important to make sure you purge your whole load, but don't overdo it.
Keeping these things in mind and following the great tutorials here, I'm sure many people will be able to make a worthwhile batch in their first attempt. I thought my first batch was pretty good.

There is definitely a learning curve with pens. I kind of wish I'd gotten some cheap eliquid and practiced with that before loading my pens.

So I guess the taste quality of vape pens are wack unless I can get top grade wax, which I can't cus I dont live in a legal state with dispensaries.

I'm still thinking about getting a pen just for flavored vapors like mint or whatever to use when I'm bored. I used to smoke cigs so I like to have something to puff on when I drink. I was watching this video and am wondering if there are any pen-style vapes that produce these type of clouds? The one in this video is a little to big n bulky to carry in my pocket everywhere. I'm not too hopeful tho cus it seems like he did all kinds of mods to his just to make bigger clouds. But maybe there is a pen out there that can? It would be awesome to vape mint flavor oils without nicotine.

Hey keepsake it's been a while !
I too like to puff on something occasionally and i recently picked up an eGo. They use liquid to fill it up and have many different flavors. You get thick clouds of vapor each hit and the battery boasts a 5 hour charge with isn't true but not extremely far off , I would suggest getting this as the battery can be used in conjunction with a oil tank on top if you decide to make oil later on.

Thanks dude ill check that out!
I just noticed I didn't post the video I was talking bout lol! I'm on my phone now so I can't but I will when I get home.
But basically just YouTube power vaping n u will see what kind of clouds I'm talking about. It'd be awesome to get those kind of clouds out of a pen but I highly doubt it.

to be honest in my opinion the only vape pens i tried and i feel is acually any good are the omicron 1.5 carts and the glass dome pen vape. i dont mean to advertise but you can buy the glass dome pen attachment seperately with a ego battery for like 30$ total. hits like a champ but the omicron is on the go, the glass dome is like taking a dab on a oil rig.

yes the omicron cart loses flavor, but all you have to do is top it off with .2 or so and youll be having that concentrate flavor.

I dont even need to use it for cannabis, just flavored oils like him.
I just want a small pen type vape, that thing is a lil too bulky to be having in my pocket.

Vapor Bros Dabbler and BHOLT are both good, small, inexpensive.
large capacity means you need CERA or SR-71

just go to gotvapes.com and click the alpha tab thingy and look for the glass globe, all you do is put a small amount and hits like a truck. its 510 treaded, i use the 650 usb ego battery which last atleast 3-5 days if i use 5dabs a day. same specifications as the "micro globe pen". i bought the micro globe and the alpha glass globe, they are exactly the same except the mouth piece by a little. the micro globe attatchment cost 50$. just the whole attatchment as alpha glass globe only cost 10$ and an new nail there is like 3.50... i think this is the best set up so far or just use the rebuildable atomizers and make it high omh. ALSO the glass globe try not to poke inside and get the oils out just hit it upside down, poking it and moving it around too much breaks it.... broke like 3 of mines in a month and a half lol. but would last like a month each or so if used with care.

I love the Persei with the CE4 head. Fucking clouds are insane compared to other pens I've had. It's fucking wick is thicker than some of the damn pens I've used and the battery baffles me. It just keeps going and going and going.

I get my SR-71 tomorrow and I assume that's gonna gonna suck the battery dry like Kim does Kanye.

I just ordered a k100 w the IGO-W tip like what this guy has.
I'm gonna use it strictly for flavored vapor oils like spearmint.
My friend has one and the taste is amazing.. my reaction from the taste was very similar to my reaction from the first time I vaped flowers!
I'll just stick to flowers for my THC needs.

For me, the only way for oil is a quartz nail...... when you vape from SS or titanium nails or vape pens, you take the (invisible) fumes from red glow metal. The taste isn't good and it's totally unsafe...... but now too many people vapes in chinese plastic e-cig.... :uhoh:

Damn! Stainless steel is not safe surface to vape off?

It's safe in normal vapes, that don't go more than normal temp....... but if you warm till red (it's the case in vape pens, like all e-cig !!!) Stainless steel and even titanium are unsafe.
Some people says not, some people (like me !) says yes !
But if you search on web, you can find information about emanations of metal when it's warm red...
