The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

I've yet to find ANY male 18mm joint that will seal properly along the whole length of an ELB

Really? I have a male 18mm to male 14mm adapter I'm using to suck material up into the ELB and it fits tighter than my Cloud. And then I had a 18mm SSV WPA (that I broke yesterday,) that worked too but not as tight.

But yeah I figured it might not fit into the EQ's HC.

Not an option, as there's a flare/peg in the base of the glass stem that engages a notch in the holder clamp and prevents it being pulled out, but means it also can only be installed at one depth.

I'm guessing you mean that notch? Is its only purpose to hold the HC in place? And I can't tell from the image but would it be possible to move it up to the next notch?

every now and then i wonder.. has any one ever tried putting a cyclone bowl/elbow/whip on top of a cloud? just pack the cyclone like a party bowl.. i wonder if its too far away to vape right?? maybe if the heat was turned up it would work out? not that i think it would be better or anything, i'm mostly curious if it would work out decent at that distance.
This is being advertised as an attachment that will work with the q. How would you attach it?

That price is rediculous...

Hah, nice Ddave. Where were you when I had my EQ, :p. My biggest gripe was getting burnt by the cyclone bowl. May I ask where you got the f/f adapter?

Hi Tweak, Thank you!
I'm a late-vaper... Really wish I had known about vaping long ago!

I got the adapter at the link below, and this adapter has now comletely replaced using the original cyclone bowl for me. I find it far more flexable in terms of elbow packs and use of smaller bowl quantities, while producing great vapor. :smug:

If you have questions or want info from anything you've seen in the pictures/posts I've submitted, please feel free to ask. Am happy to provide details (and report I am very happy with my current setup)!

Fellas - I'm actually getting better results using the typical elbow screen. Here are some pics - I am trying to make it clear for another member I'm friends with. He's really really old and has trouble sometimes....

This here is the 18mm male to male - using an elb with the lid on it for some reason was kicking a nasty flavor. If packed tight an Arizer elbow screen holds weed well sans the lid. And since I used a male to male even if it does, it just falls on top of the cyclone screen.

I was fortunate enough to get an adapter with an arm on it. Make's it real easy to pull the HT up without pulling up all the adpaters.

Sorry my pics are a little blurry, I have Parkinson's and like I tell my friends - don't fucking ask me to hold the camera and don't fucking stand next to me at a urinal with open toe shoes!

Here we are connected like John Holmes and Kay Parker...

Again not so easy to tell, but this is my swagger showercap fucking clouded! Arizer style:rockon:

Using this adapter as someone else has mentioned I was able to get my elbow pack much closer to the heater. I also do not get any brown spots in the middle any more since this adapter can hold a screen but is still straight through as opposed to the cyclone having a smaller hole in the middle to support the screen. I do not use a screen in the adapter because my elbow packs are super tightly packed.

In this next picture you can see it has brought my elbow down a lot closer to the heater. Look a lot nicer too if you ask me. Also notice that this adapter is much thicker glass then the stock Q cyclone bowl. I do find my heat up times to be the same if not longer but the vapor production is slightly better but the biggest difference I have noticed is extraction quality. Its not giving me perfectly brown ABV like my HA but very close and almost Zero light spots in the middle of the material when you kick it.

I like what you did fuzzy - however, I like the cyclone bowl specifically because of the smaller hole in the middle. IMO it act's like the clouds glass bamboo. That little hole allows for silght back pressure allowing the air to super heat. I got an evenly toasted ABV and great taste.

I add the lost restriction/back pressure by using super tightly packed elbow screens.

Glad you like the adapter! Found same results as you have. More efficiency using smaller main bowl loads, elbow packs are awesome, and it does look pretty sweet!

Now you just need one of these

actually for my setup i never need to remove the adapter since I only elbow pack. so after try higher temps with this short adapter I found that it really produce a lot of vapor. Now im wishing my elbow pack had ELB capacity.

Nice! I really like what the adapter has done for the performance of the tower! Happy to hear you've experienced the same improvement!

Oldie do you think the cloud ishands down the beat Vape youve used in comparison to theQ and others youve used?

Absolutely. Now, I haven't used as many different vapes as some others. People still talk about the PD and for performance the Life Saber has a great reputation, although it is not so easy to use.

As mvapes posted, the PerpetuaHeat system is really special. You will get the vapor you want regardless of how hard or soft, short or long, that you pull. And it never falls off requiring the vape to recover temp, you can hit it hard as fast as you can w/o a drop. You get performance of other vapes at a comparatively lower temp. The extraction is phenomenal, due to the consistent heat plus the turbulence and pressurization in the ELB.

As far as the build quality is concerned, the first Cloud was uneven. There are a lot of the original units still performing like champs; this was probably the best generation before the EVO even though improvements were made thereafter up to the Plus version. The Plus is arguably better than the original - it certainly had a better heater and firmware - but unfortunately there was disreputable behavior (subsequently resulting in litigation) by VXL's manufacturer which made the Plus quality unpredictable. It was VXL's mistake though to not be on top of this earlier.

Wearing my old hat as an engineer, and having taking the unit apart myself, I can say that the Cloud was designed for performance but not for "manufacturability" or "serviceability"; these are advanced concepts not typically found in a cottage industry (like vapes) and especially not in small new start-ups. Actually, VXL started to work on these concepts after a change in engineering staff and with the introduction of the Plus improvements. But while the internal physical design was much better, there still was not enough attention to process management, which in fairness, even if done well can be undermined by a crooked contractor, as VXL experienced.

Bottom line, I have confidence in the EVO given the technical resources being used and VXL's decision to vertically integrate. I believe there is a realization now that quality is not tested into a product, it is designed into it. With VXL having full control and having learned from its mistakes, it has all the pieces in place for a superb product. Now it's all about execution.

EDIT: Great progress and results on the various mods, guys!!!

EDIT EDIT: Just picked up my new female/female adapter and it does indeed fit perfectly on to the Q. Thanks DDave for that link. In a couple weeks I hope to try my own tests (which is part of the fun, no?).

I got it at a lhs. If you want I could see if they have another. I could pick it up for you and ship it out.
Thanks for the offer very kind of you :peace:, but I was hoping to find a male>female with a handy handle (scuse the pun) It would be perfect for my upside down setup.

I LIKE VIDEOS!

yeah exactly, ive been using a big carbon/charcoal filter to load into. It gets real hot so a handle would be sweet (like mvapes just female on one side) mine is also too large a volume. Ive been searching for one but Im international so our choices are not as great/cheap as you lucky fellas, and im pretty sure ogb doesn't do international shipping. Worth a message I suppose!
