The HI

Don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I didn't see it posted (may have missed it, though). Recently noticed the top for my Cloud ELBs fit almost perfectly in the silicone bowls on the U tube and the turbo tube. Prevents the only problem I have with the HI - vapables getting in the HI.

So currently the hi is $135 and includes power supply? Does it include any draw tubes?

Also is the included power supply variable voltage? If not is there any one that is recommended?

The power supply is not included in the $135. Some people already have a power supply (or VVPS) and don't need the additional cost. I make too many different styles / variations / combinations of tubes to include just one. You can select the exact tube for your style of roasting.

I have not yet found a relatively inexpensive VVPS that I would consider reliable. I have been using an HY152A for the last couple of years with no issues at all. I prefer the analog display but the HY1502 is another option for a digital display. They should have enough capacity to power two HI's at the same varied voltage.

mvapes - Thanks for posting the video. Love the tube combinations. Could you put some herb in that tube and use it like a filter? Would sure increase the potency of the herb as the oil condensed on it. Sort of like the old metal pipes that had the herb chamber in the mouthpiece tube.

This is working for me flawlessly for the last 8 months and is dirt cheap and silent. Needs a little attention not to bump the voltage up by accident as the knob is not very tight but this should vary from unit to unit...

This looks pretty interesting too! If the one I have fails eventually, this will be its replacement...

Cool good info one more question how long does it take to heat up?
The heat up time is 5 minutes with 12 volts applied. It will heat up faster with a few more volts applied, but there is a risk of damaging the heating element if too many volts are applied for too long. I usually just leave mine running 24/7 so I don't even have to wait 5 minutes.

natural farmer - Thanks for the links to the power supplies. That second one does look interesting. May have to check one out.

Alan, what is the upper limit of the HI in your experience?
I have only ever subjected the HI to 15 volts since that is the limit of my VVPS. It was only for about 15 minutes to see what would happen. Not a recommended practice. Extra care should be taken if the VVPS goes to 18 volts. The HI should always be at ~12 volts or less for continuous operation.

My Pod, which of course uses the same heating element works at 13,4-15V for nearly 8 months now almost non stop... I wouldn't worry much. These days it's always at 15V 24/7! Those resistors are a beast!

I keep thinking that I will run out of ideas for roasting tubes. Seems there are still more configurations.
I turned a 14mm PonG tube and bored a 13mm hole into one end. The 13mm glass roasting tube from the U Tube fits right down into the hole with a 1/2" screen placed at the bottom. It is really nice when I can use a glass tube for multiple roasting tube configurations. Now I need to go make some more 13mm glass roasting tube/tips.

Are those the silicone tips from the Omicron or a different tip? For some reason I like that kind of draw tube a lot more than the lengthened ones.

And if you guys wouldn't mind, I need to JedHI input on my latest project, a miniature VVPS. I'm trying to figure out which kind of design would make for the best log vaping experience.
