Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

I think the difference between the SSV and the E (having never touched an SSV) has to do with the vapor to air ratio. The SSV is certainly not more efficient, as it goes through big batches of herb to get those thick hits. You pack a shitload of herb in there with the same temp and airflow and you get thicker vapor because there is more weed to produce it...does this sound right?

At 390, I would say it takes you anywhere from 12-15 hits to thoroughly extract the majority of vapor from a bowl, it sounds like most people on this forum want to get the same extraction in less than 4 hits.
:o 12-15 HITS?!

I'll be the first to sign up for the 'High Temp Vapor' club, I love smooth fresh vapor as much as the next guy, but that is way to many for me haha.

I'm not gonna lie, I assumed after 2-3 hits (with stirring), the bowl would be done, I'll probably hold off on my VHW purchase until this new model is released. Thanks for the good reviews, and big props to SM55 for all his help on the temp issues, it's not easy promoting something like the VHW with so many conflicting opinions, but it's even harder to step back and be willing to make some changes.

Good work Vriptech/SM55 :).

** I tried this last night and purely by accident I discovered it raised the heating temp on the VHW. Instead of laying it on a plate, try resting it vertically in a cup thats big enough to house it. I beleive this causes the heat to rise back into the heater cover to retain more heat, let me know if this helps **

If you guys want to go higher temp, here is a good and easy way to solve the problem by purchasing a bowl similar to Davidius (where he was doing one hitters) in another thread:

Davidius wrote - The diameter of the top of the bowl is 1 mm short of 3 cm. It is interesting that when the guy at the shop pulled out his tray of these type of hitter pieces, this was the only one slightly large like this. It was only $5. I feel like cleaning mine off and taking it back to get him to order me more.
Mark designed the VHW/VCB to operate within a certain vaping range which at the present time, might turn some people off, but there isn't anything stopping you guys from picking one of these up (or the one the KeepCalm has) and seeing if that type of vapor suits your needs more. Vriptech is not condoning this, just saying that there is also this option.

As a vapor newbie, can i ask someone to clarify how the VHW's performance compares?

Are cloudier vapors more full of the bad stuff or actually partly smoke? Is there such a thing as a basically invisible vapor that is still effective?

If you feel vripped after breathing in near invisible vapors, is there even something to worry about?

highlife - emai me at info@vriptech.com and I'll walk you through everything. But to really quickly answer your questions:

Yes, you can definitely feel the effects with vapors that are less than visible. Mark says that vapor released at 380 degrees is very whispy with a bluish tint. When you go higher than 390, benzene gets released and the vapor looks more cloudy/white....

With that said, you should definitely be able to get visible vapors with the VHW as well. Here are a few tips I found help:

1. find a glass cup that is large enough to insert the VHW, i found that the heat wand retains more heat when it is in a vertical state than horizontal.

2. fill the lower bowl to the brim

3. keep at max setting for 10+ minutes

4. take harder rips

5. keep vhw in the vcb

The VHW gets me plenty *vripped*. My desire for making thicker vapor is mostly psychological. That and the ability to have those higher temperatures works good for solids/extracts/other herbs, accounting for fluctuations in room temperature, and allowing first time vaporists (or those wishing to imitate 'smoking') to have their initial experience 'a good one.' (for lack of a better term)

I think this went over pretty well last night so I figured I'd do it again to give some people an idea of how the VHW looks in action. So if anyone is interested @ 6 pm, go to www.stickam.com/stonemonkey55 and I'll show you how to take nice vrips with the VHW.

Also, it was cool to see AofZ and SprialArchitect on their webcams doing demos too.!

6pm, Cali time. ;)

And yeah, it was pretty cool watching you man.... seriously, I've never gotten hits that thick. That was ridiculous man. Is that how you normally milk it? :ko:

naw, that was max setting, just wanted to show people how it would be like. I did one a few hours earliers at 2/3 setting which would be close to my normal way of consumption. Still produced "decent" blue tint vapor, but nothing like that milkshot. I was impressed watching my own image milk it! LOL

Alright I owe this thread (or one of the many VHW threads at least ) an update. Last time I was happy with the clean tasty vapors from my new VHW but disappointed at an inability to produce thicker (was barely visible) milk.

Well, after tweaking VT1, it's been a totally different experience. Absolutely night and day.

Last weekend (soon after after tweaking VT1) a friend and I did some serious research with the VHW, SSV and PD. Both of us were very impressed with the VHW's performance. The SSV was the obvious comparison... we found the VHW able to produce the same big hits, while providing a (much) more even cook.

Extremely thick, tasty and big clouds... this is more like it. Something to impress the bong aficionados!

Experimenting with the different bowls is fun, the regular seems like it might provide a more focused hot air stream through the herb, along with the more restricted draw thanks to its narrowed section. I like them both and would recommend trying each to see what you like.

There's lots to say and I'm too stoned to say it all now, but in a nutshell I've gotta say this thing kicks ass! It's not for everyone and it's not perfect, but nothing is. I had pretty high expectations and so far it's living up to them.

Gotta give a shoutout to sm5 for being so helpful, and really just a cool guy. Any update on the silicone sleeve specs, sm?

Really enjoying the vrip water tool as well, but anyway, more later!

:D

We are getting medical grade silicone that will be pre-cut and formed by a company that does the cutting and forming for iphone accessories. They will be able to cut it with precision and add the bevel so that it looks like a much more integrated sleeve than the current style. Every pre-order will be upgraded with one of these, we are expecting shipments in 4 weeks or so.

The new waterpipe with the UFO perc will not be replacing any of the VWTs in the lineup. Mark is getting rid of the current mid model, and the Pro model will become the middle model. Many people will be perfectly content with the Pro model but for those that are itching to add a percolator into the picture, then they will probably want to go with the high end. We're finally getting it up on the website and will simplify everything so that you'll be buying packages that suit your needs. Its an exciting time in the vapor world!

Sm55!!!! My vhw arrived a it rocks my socks off!!! I just had a couple questions regarding the vt1 setting , it appears theat my new wand isn't on the same setting as the defective one I was wondering if they have already adjusted??? It seems that the vapors are big buit whispy, very tasty though

In regards to the old wand I am going to be sending it out today, I was waiting on the new one that way if it arrived broken or defective I could mail it back together, but that wasn't the case!!! The silicone doesn't make a good seal but it looks like that problem will be resolved shortly. Is there anyway to compare vt1 setting with my defective one without opening the wand before I send it back? Thank you for everything it was defenitly worth the wait!

no ETA on the new VWT, hopefully sooner the better, waiting on some glass tubing

NoSmoke - I think your replacement was sent out before we discovered the changes to the vt1 setting. I would be very, very careful to remove everything and do the adjustment. I would say yours is a bit low if you are getting whispy vapes, at max setting it should be super milky. Take a look at the thread with directions to change the VT1, just becareful to not to over tighter then glass heater cover.

Is the silicone too big? what doesn't fit? the new custom sleeves will hoefully alleviate all of this.

Vtac - thanks for the review, I'm glad that you are all dialed in and ready to go. After the last few weeks of hitting the prototypes, I have fallen back in love with the original VWTs. The size is just perfect and keeps the vapor to air ratio very high. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know!
