I Am Watching The Stars
I received the new glyph batteries yesterday and after multiple tests i am truly amazed by the improvement with everything from charging time to output. I have been using the original batteries that where paired with my first mflb years ago. I am now curious with the new power adaptor but the portability and power these new batteries have I don't think i would utilize the PA 2.0 if purchased. Anyone who owns a MFLB needs the Glyph Batteries.

That would depend on how old the stock is it at PIU. Randy does a brisk volume I think, I suspect they're the new version. Why not ask him if you want to know?

I agree about the glyph batteries, but I think you underestimate the value of the PA. The benefit of a PA is the ability to set it at your sweet spot. If you use your LB in a fixed location, such as at your desk as I did for a long time, then the PA makes life much simpler. I set the power at about 40%, which meant I never had to worry about combustion and I was getting tasty low temperature vapour, the kind I like most. I resisted getting a PA for quite a while after they were released, and wound up kicking myself in the ass for not getting one sooner. Don't make the same mistake.

Hello friends,

I have a question about AVB. I usually vape until black, not on purpose but the glyphs darken my load at about the 6-7th draw.

Yesterday I ate 1.5G of it at work in a smoothie and felt absolutely nothing...what a waste carrying it around.

So I realized that I'm not even conserving that much with ABV - for every 2G I have a possibility of getting stoned on abv...lol.

Just throwing abv into a smoothie and not processing it or anything is probably one of the least effective ways you could use your abv. Don't get me wrong, it'll work as the bud is already decarbed from the vape, but its gonna take alot more to feel anything. You should try actually cooking with it, make some brownies or some cannacaps or something... at the very least, even firecreackers will probably work better then just throwing some abv into a smoothie

If youre interested, heres a recepie for some cannacaps that i plan on trying as soon as i have a decent amount of abv: http://imgur.com/a/56oIN

Nice recipe dude ,
I've never thought of making gelatin canna-caps .
But I would like to try it with top shelf buds tho , and not with ABV .
So I'm guessing the formula will differ a little , with pure buds .

Any thoughts on the % formula 420JG ?

Thanks for the advice, and for the great recipe! The cannacups look fantastic.

While the newer batteries seem to provide a faster heat up... the old batteries are no slouches and are not inferior.
Many users had their batteries for many months, and bit by bit the batteries degrade.
They then bought Glyph batteries and found them a large improvement.
I feel that had they bought new "older" type batteries that also would have been a large improvement.
I keep ample sets of new batteries on hand, to share with the community.
I have used both sets of new batteries extensively, and while the new ones are improved... they were not enough different to make it matter to me personally, which I used.
This is irrelevant, as one day they will all be new type...
BUT when local patients saw that I had new type batteries, and looked envious,
I freely traded them for the "older" type"... which still work great.

I disagree.
I save all ABV from MFLB and have for years... and use it many ways.
Vito's ABV notes
I make Iso reductions... Everclear reductions (edible)
I make flour and bake with it.....
AND I pour it down my gullet straight... or in smoothies.
ABV is already carbolated (at around 375º) and is "ready to go".
~No processing required... unless so desired~
I throw a spoonful in instant oatmeal too.

I've also had great and predictable highs eating ABV raw, a la "toss and wash" as well as mixed into some peanut butter/yogurt/etc. If you ate it and felt nothing, then either you vaped the load thoroughly and there are no more active cannabinoids left in the material, or your tolerance is higher than what you ate. Maybe both.

How would one distinguish when there are no more cannabinoids in it?

I mean, going past light brown is so tempting :D . I'm at light brown after the 4th hit, but I take it with me for the day with no extra trenches so OF COURSE I'm baseline by the afternoon and take 4 more draws to get flighty again (8 hits in total until blackish herb). This unequivocally renders ABV useless in my situation - my tolerance is very low.

Aztec Deity, when would you stop vaping when using the glyphs? Is there a sweet spot wherein you can vape *almost* all the cannabinoids and terpenoids while still leaving enough *bang* for edible greenery?

Thanks.

I'm not saying that it'd be totally ineffective, I've heard of people eating abv raw and having great effects. But I would assume that because THC is fat soluble you'd have better results if you were to actually cool your abv into some kind of fat... Whether that be coconut oil or whatever. People decarb fresh bud as well but usually they will cook it into something instead of just eating it raw (though I'm sure it'd still work if you did). If I didn't have access to tools and equipment to cook with I wouldn't mind eating abv straight, but if you have access to even the most basic kitchen I don't see why you wouldn't. Plus, I couldn't even imagine how awful the texture of raw abv must be.

I would think you'd still follow the same basic recipie. This isn't my recipie, but when I asked the guy who made this write up told me to use 45 ml of oil to every quarter of bud. Also, if anyone knows how the hell I could convert 45 ml into some kind of American measurement it'd be great... Lol:)

I'm actually at this crossroad myself right now. Vaped a quarter down into a few grams (if that), and I'm not sure what I want to do with it. It's pretty well vaped, I'd say, so I would have to eat probably all of it if I wanted to feel something.

How thoroughly I vape it depends on what I want out of the current situation: do I want to vape off some THC and the terpenes and other low-temp cannabinoids and save more of the cannabinoid content for edibles/revaping, or do I need to get as many cannabinoids in me as possible right now? I've saved some stuff that I'll "half-vape" (subjective, my half-done is different than yours), and save for edibles later, and achieved a nice high. I don't know how much experience with ABV you have, but the high is a bit different compared to regular edibles. It's more sedating and hypnotic, and to me it's a pretty "empty" high with no real head change although it's quite effective for sleeping, pain, nausea, etc. All the stuff CBD is good for since it has a higher vape temp.

I just bought the Power Adapter 2.0. I'm excited to see how this will change how I vape with the MFLB and how I extract the goodies from the herb.

Personally, I feel like letting it go to black kills some of the cannabinoids and I don’t like the taste. I tried using the sip method, but that technique made me cough up a nard. No idea why, so what I do now is hold my tongue against the end of the glass draw pipe. Then, when I inhale I can feel the heat coming from the box. It's basically the sip method slightly modified. After using the “tongue sip” method for a few loads I have a really good feel for vape temps, only bad thing is that I can’t know the temp for sure. There is a time/temp. chart in the MFLB manual, but unless you use the same battery they did, the heating times can be longer or shorter than the chart says, but it’s a great guide. I actually need to call them and ask a few q's. ANYWHOOOO... To ensure getting the most cannabinoids I can, I only hold the battery in for about 3-4 seconds. I do this for 3-4 vapes to try get the cannabinoids that have a lower boiling/vaporizing temperature. Check out this chart for cannabinoid boiling/vaporizing temperatures. This also heats up and dries out the load a bit. Then I vape at the higher temperature for the remainder of the load.

As far as the ABV is concerned, I used to re-vape like MFLB suggests, but it gets too dark and nasty. After many experiments with ABV, I've found that I need 2g's to really get the effect I want.

For faster absorption, I crush the ABV again to almost a powder, then simmer it in melted butter for a minute or two. Then I add pasta sauce and simmer for about 15 mins. I really enjoy the flavor of the sauce. You can add 1/4 Cup of H2O in the sauce to keep it from getting thicker, if that's what you prefer. Sometimes the effect kicks in, in as little as 40-50 mins., but only if my stomach is empty and I drink a lot of water. Water helps digestion and absorption, as does the empty stomach.

For slower absorption, I simmer the ABV in butter for a minute or two, just like before, then add a few eggs and scramble. I think absorption is slower because it takes your body longer to breakdown the egg around the ABV. That’s my guess anyway. The effect usually hits me in 1.5 - 2 hours.

One last suggestion is to season moderately as this helps mask some of the ABV flavah. For both recipes I season with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning (or basil and oregano), pepper and [salt (eggs only)]. Season to your own taste. Season lightly at first, then taste, then make small additions. You can always add more seasoning but you can't take it out. ;)

Both recipes can be taken out and about in a tupperware container.

A few nights ago I decided to take my (well-vaped) ABV and poured it inside of half of an Ensure drink, shook for a bit, and finished it in a couple of gulps. Effects came on around 1hr, noticeable dry mouth at 1.5hrs, and I don't remember what happened after because I just fell asleep. That's about as easy as I can get it down.

I've been using a bootleg bubbler made out of a juice bottle to revape light brown
ABV until it looks like chocolate, light chocolate.
I use a PA at 3/4 max and stand guard for any combustion.
The bubbler kills any heat,. so I really had to experiment to come
up with the right temps and right bubbles.
This is how I roll when the meds. get scarce.
This is also why I lightly vape my herb when I can.

I recently purchased the new glyph batteries and concentrate tray from Vaporizers.ca and absolutely love the new batteries aswell as the oil tray. But I havent been able to try the hash tray yet because my concentrate package only had one tray :huh:
