Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

To me, it looks like a dome perc, and, honestly, dome percs are pretty draggy. Also it looks like the water level is really high on that thing!

Did you get to hit it? Was there a lot of drag?

KC - the holes were ridiculously small and there was a fair amount of drag IMO. I'll have to try out other pieces so that I can give some type of accurate comparison. I will say effects wise, I don't feel like a lot of thc was lost in the water. I hooked up the n3rd inline to the new VWT proto and it hit pretty sweet, the inline has waaaaaaaaaaaay less drag tho.

Can you see any difference?
My guess is the mushroom perc is pretty much the same design, but instead of walling/connecting the bottom of the 'dome', it's wide open. Usually dome percs have slits near the base, these 'slice' or split the smoke into smaller bubbles (resulting in more surface area).

If you have any experience with mushrooms, the ones in the forest silly :p, you'll recognize the similarity in the 'gills' this thing seems to have. It really does look like a mushroom. Cool.

As far as the pros/cons on individual styles, I only have experience with tree and dome percs. When I smoked, they were a bitch to keep extremely clean. I've only tried them in conjunction (bong had 2 tree/2 dome) but the dome percs certainly cleaned a lot easier. Can't comment on their individual drag and airflow however, but I do think the wide open 'mushroom' style is the way to go if people are wanting percs for vaping. Too much diffusion could be a bad thing. :2c:

honeybear - email info@vriptech.com with your buddies last name and i'll find out where it is in transit.

EDIT - One thing I found out recently, and one thing I should have clarified earlier is that Vriptech products are pretty much built to order. I always though they kept a bunch of inventory on hand but its part of being in a lean, demand driven manufacturing environment. That said, there is a short lead time of 2-3 days from the time an order is taken, processed, produced, and then shipped out. I was bummed because I had been telling people that their orders would be shipped out the following day at the latest but you live and you learn. I think there are some cool takeaways from this which are, the people that blow the pieces that are used in the VHW (who would like to be nameless) are two of the nicest, gentle, warm people I have ever met. They put their love and positive intent into each piece so I hope everyone can appreciate that. I know I have and it makes my ritual that much more enjoyable knowing that from the piece that N3rd made to the VCB, some cool people with good energy hand shaped these tools.

I feel the heat cover will quickly break due to the thin glass and lack of glass welds keeping the cover supported. it just needs some minor glass bridges welded into the glass cover to keep it more sturdy...

ever since AoZ reported what he did..im having my doubts :uhoh:

but i still might place the order...im on the fence on this one

Hennessy - I understand your concern but the only way the VHW would crack under normal use is if you dropped it. We sent out a replacement to AofZ free of charge and I'm confident that as long as he treats it with respect, he shouldn't have any issues. I'm not saying that additional reinforcements would be nice, but if you're not careful with your glass, reinforcements or not, your unit will eventually break.

pre-orders still available ??
decided to get one.. just want to know the size of the hole on the glass at the tip of the VHW..

i have a 21mm hole to attach the VHM, it will fit well at this hole making a good air seal?
thank you!!!

noia - I got back at you via email - shouldn't be an issue and thank you for having the open mind to look at other vaporization tools. We are both fans of the heat gun and I am sure soon, we will both be fans of the VHW.

I wanted to address Hennessy's concern about the fragility of the VHW and I just want to set expectations properly. While the VHW has been put through a proprietary process to strengthen the glass that is being used, as the end of the day, it is still glass. I would say that is is comparable in thickness and durability to the heat injector by Herborizer and as long as you treat the item like you would treat any piece of glass, you will be A-ok. I usually have a set place to set your VHW down so that no one will accidentally trip over the cord only to have the VHW shatter on the ground.

I may have stated this earlier before, but Mark went through 20+ designs with the VHW/VCB and this was the best combination of durability, heat up time, and ability to retain temperature. The thicker designs took up to 30 minutes to heat up, which is why they decided on a thinner design where the glass has been strengthened thru the proprietary process. I myself have not had any issues with mine and although I consider myself a careful person, I never felt like I was really babying it either. Just my 2 cents

So I got my VHW/ProWT/Jetflo yesterday and I'm having some problems.
It just isn't vaporizing well at all. I checked and I've got an airtight seal throughout the water tool and if I hold the VHW at just the right angle I don't get too much air coming in where it connects to the VCB.
Maybe its not getting hot enough? Though it feels plenty hot.

I've tried two different strains of :leaf: that I dried out on my ;pd;. And I've tried it with water/ice, water, and no water. After trying for a while I get a very wispy vapor that isn't visible in the bong.
The herb lightly browns after several hits, and only the top layer of the pile. This is on its maximum temperature, which I feel should have the ability to combust.

I?m sure that the VHW can work very well, Stonemonkey?s videos were one of the main reasons I chose this as my big-hitting temp-adjustable vape. So its either user error or a defect. I assume it?s the former; can anyone help me see what I?m missing?

Costanza - that is odd, at max temperature, you should be getting REALLY thick vapor and really browning out of your herbs. Try letting it warm up for 10 minutes before your sessions, if it still isn't getting hot enough, we will send you a replacement. When you insert the VHW into the VCB, is the tip of the VHW making a glass seal with the VCB or is there some space in between? I have mine dialed in at about 2/3 temp and I feel I'm getting plenty cloudy vapors. Try the longer warm up and let me know how it goes.

I usually wait the ten minutes before trying to use it, hoping that it helps.
But I have the same problem no matter how long I've been trying to hit it.
No, the glass tip doesn't make a seal no matter what angle I hold it at.
I've even taken out the VCB and inhaled directly from the lower bowl stem while plugging the VHW's holes to ensure that the leak wasn't coming from any other point.
With the silicon I can get a tight seal but if the sleeve slides too far up on the VHW (just under the start of the holes) I lose the it. I've got to push it down towards the tip to maintain a seal, and I still have weak vapors.
The duff is similar to my PD's ABV (on the right). And it takes many hits on max to reach this color.
Does that look right?

Costanza - There is definitely something wrong with your unit., I've had guests come over basically take one hitters with the heat turned all the way up so Shoot me an email at info@vriptech.com and I'll get you a new set up right away. There is one last thing I'd like you to try that I think could be the problem, I'll post up some pictures in a few but just wanted to let you know that I saw your inquiry and we're on top of getting you a working replacement. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

SM, If there was a defect with Costanza's unit could you please find out what it was and tell us?

Much appreciated (danks in advance).

I can't wait to hear about all of the awesome adventures with the VHW once people are able to spend some time with their new tools :D .

If you do make a new VHW thread, please take the all pertinent info from this thread and the original one and add it to the first post. Long threads are the norm here.

I'm not sure about separate review threads. We have about 4 for the i-inhale which seems to scatter/duplicate info.

Man, you guys are up early!! I gotta be at work at 6 am and here you guys are up and about, unless yall work east coast hours too....but I digress

Constanza - please take a look at the two photos below. We've gotten a few inquiries about the silicone sleeve being too long and that the tip of the VHW isn't mating securely with the VCB. Try cutting maybe a 1/2 inch (or whatever you think is correct) so that more of the glass tip is sticking out. The slight change in distance could make all the difference between light vaping, and being able to vape hash.

Also, if you could take a picture of your VCB - you may have gotten one of the older ones. Please let me know if this works as we want everyone to be satisfied with their order.
