Mr.Krinkle

Shpooding Time.
I just asked Ploom if this were a new feature or not and they were really weird about not answering my question directly, this is the first time I have ever had this happen. He FLAT OUT would not tell me a. if the notches were new, and b. if the notches even existed. I tried to explain to him why I wanted to know, (for a message board dispute) and he told me maybe we should all meet up and compare hahaha. Seems like they dont like clogging up the live chat with such questions :)

We're here to fuck shit up.
Ploom is strange. Won't give product info or release the names of their authorized dealers. What the fuck?

This is a very good picture of how the oven has ridges--not notches--on the wall to interact with the indents on the ends of the pax screen. I don't know if these ridges are due to a manufacturing revision or not, but it seems like it is because so many of you can't seem to find them.

for anyone who is curious, here is what the oven looks like after I cleaned it:

I'm just waiting for a pax v2. Seems like too many problems and mysteries for a $250 product

I'm glad this came up, because if I end up buying another one of these it will be from ploom directly. But on the phone, not a web order, because I want them on record telling me I will get the version with the damn ridges. If they can't tell me that, they will lose the sale.

Ploom has been great so far, they should just confront this issue honestly and directly. If they put the old model on sale and offer a limited trade-in program to the new revised models with the ridges for those that want one, they could preserve their reputation.

If Ploom continues to obfuscate the facts of this revision, then their reputation will surely suffer.

And be sure to keep any and all ISO away from the temp light, even tho the temp light is located right next to the stainless steel airpath, which needs to be cleaned with ISO after it clogs... (because that's a great design choice and no one has problems with the temp light or sticky mouthpiece /snark)

I can't get my fucking Pax to charge. I cleaned it good, both the unit and the charger. Nothing happens. Any suggestions?

I have to say that this is the worst purchase I have ever made. Most of the time the mouthpiece either sticks or doesn't activate- even after thorough cleaning with ISO and Q-tips. It usually took me 5 minutes of taking the thing off the charger, cleaning the charger and the Pax, and replacing it before it got a contact and started charging. This happened EVERY time and now it's dead and won't charge.

I HATE this piece of shit. I paid all that money and it has never worked right. Especially when I needed it to.

Went to Boston and needed to medicate for a couple of days. I wouldn't turn green the whole time.

Don't have a car tomorrow and Friday and need to medicate at work. Nope, not going to happen.

Going to a festival in a couple of weeks, it won't charge.

I have been anal about keeping this thing clean every day. If I can't get it charge I'm going to take a hammer to it. I'll post pics, LOL.

Edit: I destroyed the charger trying to take the cheap piece of shit apart. I'm done with this crappy toy.
Their warranty exchange is pretty quick man, I got a prepaid label to send mine back. Had a working Pax in under a week.. Yeah the cleaning is really inconvenient since even after cleaning it'll still have mouth piece problems in about 1 or 2 uses.. People thought I was exaggerating about this last time lol.

Advice, if you really hate it, get a warranty service done and then sell the new one they sent you.

You say Tomato, I say Tomato, you say Ridge I say notch. I am talking about the same thing. Thie lil lip, the lil ridge, the lil notch. Whatever you want to call there is one at each end.

Hexi I don't get you bro. You come here just to complain all the time about a unit you don't own?

For those that bought the Pax on their website, where do you live and how long did it take to ship? Thanks.

I ordered one on a Sunday and got it on Thursday. I ordered the other one on a Monday night and got it on Friday. I'm in NH. I believe they ship from CA.

Haven't tried the Pax yet, but I like the Arizer Solo and MFLB, I just heard negative reviews about the Pax so haven't bothered. Is it worth the money?

I'm not trying to repeat myself here but although I agree the pictures that have been submitted above certainly seem to show ridges on the oven walls, these pictures show what it looks like with the screen inserted in the Pax. Personally, I suspect that if you remove the screen and then attempt to retake pictures of the oven without the screen, I suspect you will not be able to find ridges. Another simple way to try and detect ridges on the wall would be to insert a probe along the walls in order to try and feel a "bump". I've tried this many times and on my unit which I've had for only about 3 months there are no bumps. Perhaps I am wrong but that is my suspicion. If customer service at Ploom eventually states that there are ridges on newer models that didn't exist before, I will want to get the latest version.

That is a very tough question to answer. It comes down to personal preference and experience.

There are plenty of people that love them. I thought it was worth the money enough that I bought a second one the day after I got my first.

But there are plenty of people that don't like them and think they are not worth the money.

It's unfortunate, but the only real way to find out if it is worth the money to you is to try it for yourself.

I have owned a pax for about 6 months now and mine does have slight ridges (notches) that keep the screen in place. I use it quite frequently when I'm out and don't have access to a tabletop vape. It produces fairly big clouds and is very stealthy. I was having the temp light issue every once in awhile even after I would get done cleaning everything well. I bought a thing of the glycol lube from amazon and now I just put a little on the mouthpiece metal stem especially the sliding metal ring every once in awhile and it is no longer a problem.

You want a Solo loaner? I haven't used it much lately.
Wow, thanks for the generous offer, Deadshort! I have my own Solo, however- but thanks!
Did you try contacting Ploom first?
I just got done chatting with VapeWorld. I have been given authorization to send it back in for warranty service. They were very cool about it. I am going to send it back tomorrow and hopefully get a working Pax back before the end of the month!

I love the PAX. At first when I got it I was just like meh. Now I love the shit out of the thing. I use it at least once a day while I am out and about. Next to some sort of oil pen it is by far the stealthiest best portable vape I have used. good clouds, holds a good amount and is pretty fing reliable as long as you keep it clean. Some people whine about having to clean it. That doesn't bother me. It takes a few minutes. It is much easier and more fun than cleaning a dry pipe. Not to mention quicker and cleaner. IMO there are no more negative reviews on this forum of the PAX than any other of the devices on this forum that are considered top-notch on this forum. And as far as getting defective units that doesn't concern me with how good the customer service is.

It may not be the best piece if you wanna rip 3-4 ovens out of the thing every day. Though at the same time other people on here do exactly that with no problems. So who knows.

wow are we really debating weather or not the pax has ridges now. I am done. :bang:

Relax, bud. We're all friends here. Yes, I'm still curious because I've had 5 different PAX in my hand since discussion of these ridges/notches has begun and not one of them has had ridges or notches. I have one more to check, but my buddy thinks his has the notches.

Also, I still haven't seen a decent picture of the ridges/notches with the screen removed.

Basically, if Ploom won't confirm, if I can't see a decent picture, or if I can't see and feel these ridges/notches for myself on my PAX or any of the others I've checked, then yes, I'm still interested in some actual proof.
