You can put some wax in the middle of the herb on the Solo. I've done it. You don't necessarily have to put it on 7. I prefer my wax without mixing it with weed.

The easiest way to get a pretty good wax hit is to use a micro g style pen. There are zillions of them under various names like cloud and ellipse and many many more. They're all pretty much junk so just get the cheapest. Use a toothpick to load a small amount into the atomizer chamber and inhale. There's a lot wrong with this method. But there isn't much learning curve and you'll get a good hit of wax.

I love the Solo but IMO it isn't the right tool for wax.

Question for you guys.

I'm getting a gram of wax tomorrow. Now, I'm kind of new to the whole wax scene...I've just been mainly smoking herb. If i put some wax in the middle of some herb and put the Solo to 7, will it vape the wax you think?
I love the SOLO for FLOWERS.
Wine = Glass with Stem.
Scotch = Shot Glass.
I like wax straight up!
However I use something dedicated for CONCENTRATES.

Hi Guys, just received my backup solo a couple weeks back and I forgot how loose the stems get quickly. I have been running a #113 from PV in my original , it works great but doesn't fit right, I'm afraid to tighten down cap all the way in fear of popping the bottom screws so I'm left with a 1/32" gap under the cap. I need to tighten my new solo up so I picked up a couple 14x2mm to try, these are basically the same inside diameter but 1/32" thinner, they fit perfect (no more gap) My supplier could not get this size in silicone but said that the caterpillar dealer might be able to get, will check.
I read it is not recommended to use regular o rings because of vapor they give off? If they did give off vapor would you even get any? The air path should come in thru the cover holes with no air going between the oring and glass. I would think very little if any would get into the chamber? I have noticed a few times after I do a session on 6 when I've removed the stem there's been a piece of herb that ended up on the outside of the glass that's still green, the heat that gets to the outside is minimal.
Do regular o rings give off vapor at these temps?
Do they melt or stick to the glass?
I'm hoping caterpillar can get me these in silicone because they fit perfect in both my 107's but man it's hard to comprehend how it all works!
Thanks Will

Here you go, $13 for 50 of the right part:

I strongly advise against using rings that far above their temperature ratings. Common Buna rings are rated to 200 or 250. There are health concerns, are you sure it's not worth two bits to your to be safe?

Think about it, any vapor anywhere under the cap is sooner or later going to get sucked up and out the stem......that's the way air flows in the unit. In the vents, out the stem.

Hi Will:

I have 2 SOLO's fitted with o-ring seals. You need these on your SOLO's so you can do all kinds of maneuvers.

Does not slip!

Is this wrong?

samirfuzzywuzzy sent them to me.

I think the reason most don't have usb is because it is way slower to charge...guess that would be the less voltage thing and other stuff I know nothing about.

Edit: Had this page on for a looooooooooong time and wasn't up to reading. I just read OF's post and woohoo I still am learning but now as always I couldn't get through his post cause it hurt my brain:rofl:

The Solo has something like 2200mAH batteries in it, in series. so its a total battery capacity of 2200mAH @ 7.2V. USB is 5V@500mA. the Solo wants 12V to charge, so the voltage has to go up from 5V to 12V, a factor of 2.4. So the current has to go down that much, from 500mA to 208mA. call it 200mA because of over-head. there are chips that will do this, they are called boost converters because they boost a supply voltage up but reduce the current available the corresponding amount down.

So if you have 200mA to charge up a 2200mAH cell, that's going to be about 11 hours to charge it up. Now this is from dead to 7.2V so it will likely take less, call it between 5-10 hours. you could theoretically have a 20% charge after an hour. I guess it depends on how you use it if that would work.

But wait, isn't there a car charger for it?? Maybe Im dreaming. (Dreamerring)

SO that Mr Electric guy! wow. When I first saw that post I thought "super human" right off the bat.

This is about an hour later, but I wanted to show you this blast from the past. I have to put it in with this post so I don't double post. so for you its right now but for me it was an hour after the first part there.

So I was over at PV "shopping". I was looking at their news feed on the left. before you know it I was on their blog getting totally confused. http://www.planetvape.blogspot.ca/2011/08/new-solo-vaporizer-featuring-lithium.html

New Solo with an all glass vapor path??? What? I don't remember reading anything about this in this forum or hearing about it elsewhere! Is this just new? look at the time at the bottom of the post and it says 3:42PM today. whaaaa? I searched around a bit and then scrolled up. 2011. This must have been an early pre-launch bit of marketing. That totally confused me.

I think OF just left out a word. It is advised to use high temp o-rings. I think if you look back at the original 113 it is rated IIRC to 450. PV is high temp as well.

I think it is just the same one we have but time will tell.

Hey folks. So after weeks, maybe months of lurking and researching, I may have to pick up a solo over the pax. I really want to get a pax, but for a $250 unit, I feel as if all the bugs should be worked out. So hopefully ploom has a v2 pax in the works.

In the meantime, I guess I will pick up a solo. I'm trying to pick a vape (first vape) that can double as both portable and as an at home unit. I thought the pax would cut it, but I feel with all the cleaning and maintenance involved, it will end up being a disappointing experience. Kinda had a bad experience with my omicron v2...so looking to stay away from something like that.

Although the solo is a bit less stealthy, I'm hoping the ease of vapor production, and quality of vapor will more than make up for that. Bit of a pointless post, but I was just hoping more members could validate my thought process lol.

Welcome to the forum Erikim:wave:.

It is hard to say what is good for someone as you must know. It definitely will fit an at home and portable unit but...you have to get either ed's stem or the case for the glass one. You have to realize it is not as stealth but you can do the McDonald's mod. If that doesn't bother you then you are making a perfect choice.

So I just got some o-rings (shout out to samirfuzzywuzzy for being such an awesome person!) and I had a question for you guys. Once you have your o-ring in do you screw the top on all the way, forcing it down until it's tight, or just leave it on screwed a little bit?

Don't over screw...wow that sounds bad, or you will break the bottom of your solo. Tighten enough for the stem not to fall out....I think cautious is better some may screw a little tighter.

Edit: This whole post is just wrong:rofl:

Lol it definitely took me long to realize things. I do have a high tolerance, and with the vape high having diff affects, I want to make sure I got a great device.

I got pulled in by the pax's slick aesthetics, and stealthy convenience. But like I said, sounds more like a pain the the booty. I even considered a mflb with a PA, for both stealthy and at home, but even with the right technique, I doubt the box can cut it. So all that being said, I hopefully plan on pulling the trigger on the solo by this week....as long as the pax dark side doesn't suck me back in. Lol

I agree with your thought process. Now it's time for you to get off the fence and GO FOR IT!!!

have been wondering this as well?
I know some people have used organic cotton balls, but noone has really said which is the best method.
I've simply put concentrate on top of a little flower. Lots and lots more hits than flower alone.
But its its not going to be a dab...

I really hope u go for the Solo....its just awesome and u will be surprised by its efficiency.
Its been just a month since I quit smoking, and I can say it confidently that Solo will definitely ,hit the spot, for people with high tolerance...u jus need to give it 2 weeks of only vaping

Using cotton is definitely the best way to consume concentrated in the solo. It's so clean and easy. I've found whenever I just use herb the oil melts through the herb and clogs the screen.
