Extreme Vape Temperature Question

I have been vaporizing for about a year and a half now. I just purchased an Extreme Vaporizer, and have a few questions about the temperature. I see a lot of people talking about 300-something degrees C to vaporize the herb.

Before purchasing the Extreme, I went through two Vapir vaporizers. When I vaporized with the vapirs, (the Vapir One 3.0 and later 5.0) I did the following:

Started at 165C
-no vapor at 165, raise to 175
No vapor at 175, stir, raise to 185C
-No vapor at 185, raise to 195C

After doing so, I am VERY thoroughly medicated, and my herb is the color of tobacco almost.
What was confusing me was the much higher temperatures with the Extreme. The lower temps with the Vapir seem to get the job done fine, and I was wondering what the difference is, or if it's just thicker vapor, or what.

Any help would be appreciated. It should be in the mail tomorrow, and I don't want to waste any herb or time.

The temperature shown on the extreme is not necessarily an indication of the temperature of the herb, but more of the heater itself.

The model you will get will likely be the latest (3rd), which shows a maximum temp of 260 degrees (Celsius) - Note that the 1st model showed a max of 350, 2nd showed max 250 and 3rd 260, but nothing has actually changed with these models except the position of the sensor, so neither model gets to a different temperature than others.

You'll likely start getting good hits around the 220-230 mark, depending whether you receive a 2nd or 3rd generation, and you can turn it up from there.

Do yourself a favour and read the Extreme thread (it's long but lots of good info) or the Extreme wiki for more info about temps.

Just came in today after the longest 5 day wait ever, and all I can say is WOW. The taste and everything is amazing. I just did one bag and am pretty thoroughly medicated. I vaped at 195C, so there should be a good 2 bags left. This thing is awesome.
