They aren't going to respond cause they are in the middle of a mess with the ascent. Since it is new the suggestion is use it for a few session, charge, use charge and in a few days it should act normal. This has been reported before and that was the fix...training the battery. If not send that shit back.

What's going on with the ascent?

lwein stop making me laugh...flatlands it is off topic so go to the http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/a...ther-nonsense-thread.9803/page-38#post-431993 thread and read.

The Lady didn't tell the full story, go to that thread, read in amazement and weep out loud......

Dreamer's right I think, they've kind of got their hands full right about now....and then some. I also don't think that crude little indicator is all that great and useful anyway. It's not easy to give a simple yet accurate indication of three separate batteries that make up the pack.

Give the Ascent dust a bit of time to settle? You can sort out the battery deal a bit later, and until then enjoy your DV?

Strange, the unit still works fine. The only affect it makes is that it's impossible to see the screen in the dark unless the green or red LED is on. Apparently the backlight has flicked on a couple times for less than a second each time. We were hoping for a secret way to activate it/deactivate, but it seems more likely to be because of a loose connection or something I guess.

I figured out that it takes about 7 seconds to go from the highest temp,405 degrees back down to 375 degrees. that is about 2 seconds every 10 degrees. if there were no display the unit could be maxed out at 405 and then reverse back by counting it out and get to the preferred temp,of course the unit has a temperature memory to keep it at a certain temp and even someone blind could learn it. :)

Actually in a way that's kinda cool and does make it more stealth at night . C No Ego has a great answer to using the DV in the dark If your friend doesn't want to return it . Me myself would probably keep and use it a while if its working well (its hard to beat a DaVinci when its working ) . But I do think you would need a replacement to get it fixed .

It's a beautiful summer day, low 80's, broken sun, gentle breeze on the patio and some free time. So, I decided to load up my version 1 Davinci and play some vapo-roulette: When will the THC kick-in?? I was using near consecutive 5-second pulls (only pausing long enough to hold-n-exhale) while cranking the temp 10 F degrees between each pull starting at 375 and ending at 415 (it'll go to 430 F, but I won't). At that pace, I finished what was offered up before any asswhooping could happen... maybe 4-5 minutes into thinking that I'd won the game, the Davinci-assisted THC hammer came down with a thud.

Suffice it to say that 1) I just wanted to share the experience, and 2) it's taken more than a half-hour to type what you have been reading. I, meanwhile, have left for Pleasantville.

Hi all, new member first time poster. I've only recently gotten into the vaporization scene. In my case I'm using a DaVinci for tobacco. Or, was using... because the thing appears to have died after only 2 months. When I hit the heating button, the red light flashes exactly 9 times and then shuts down. (This is both when plugged in, and charged on battery). The temp gauge now consistently shows the room temp as 47° F (?) so I'm not sure if this is a thermostat failure or some kind of error code?

I've tried a few things such as shutting it off overnight, giving it a full charge and then trying to run on battery only, no luck so far.

I know others have had issues similar to this, and it sounds like a send-in-for-repair scenario, but unfortunately I am leaving town tomorrow for a couple weeks and wanted to bring it with me. Was wondering if anyone came across any successful workarounds, a way to "reboot" it etc or am I just SOL?

Gotta say I have had some issues with the quality of this device (flexi straw sheath coming unraveled, cleaning brush bristles all fell out after about a week, screens fell apart, and now this. Any advice appreciated!

Get a solo? If you send the DV back in and it will be a quick turnaround have the mail it to where you will be?

Thanks,
Been thinking about the Solo but Im not sure I want to travel with it... internationally.. if ya know what I mean? Also looking at the Pax but Ploom told me there were no authorized dealers in Canada. When I'm in LA I might try to get ahold of one.

In any case my travel plans are still kinda up in the air and I'll be in 3 different cities in 3 weeks, so I don't think getting a replacement DV on the road is going to work. Oh well. Was mostly just hoping someone out there may have had a similar problem with the DV, and knew of a workaround.

Thanks for the feedback! I was looking at the Ascent but after my DV experience I think I would wait a while for some real reviews...

orange...

If the unit is under warranty still, call DaVinci and get a return authorization, to expedite the process. I'm not certain about the digital temp readout, but the red light flashing is a normal "warning signal" that the battery charge is low and the device is about to shutdown. If you're charging it and the battery is not taking/holding the charge, then it's defective.

EDIT: Having re-read your original post, please do whatever meets your needs.

Any tips on how to get an oil can out? Good tool to use? 'picker' stick doesn't get it done for me.

like grab the side between the outer can and the inner bowl? Not much clearance in there, but that was my last resort.

Is getting the oil can stuck something others have issues with?

Turn the unit on till HOT and then you should be able to get it out with the picker or something similar. It is glued by resin on the side walls.

yeah it's a combo of glue and ABV. But the can is so light, physics takes over. The gravitational force + me trying to tap it out force is not strong enough to overcome the frictional force holding it in place.

A picker with a mini-umbrella would be ideal, but those don't really exist AFAIK
