Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

Thanks for explaining the funcionality of the tanks, i always just thought the oil was getting dripped onto the hot hammer rod.

You're welcome. We seem to have the same thing. I'd be surprised otherwise, really, there was some loose talk about making some up with different size pores to deal with different concentrate types. Perhaps, once back on track, that will be resumed?

I looked at spacing the other way, it seems to hold the can up off the bottom enough so the vapors don't get trapped behind some seal caused by buildup or leakage like happens sometimes.

FWIW I think the problems with the initial design sort of started with stuff 'dripping down' from the can, if it'd stayed trapped up there as originally intended it'd be a different world......and we'd never have the SR71 coming?

Hi G - my vote is for option #1, as long the "fix" is a good one (but you wouldn't offer it to us if it weren't, so yes - option #1). Thanks for giving us a vote!

I'm fine with continuing to wait for the final version (in fact I've never fired mine up......) but other guys are hanging on this one. You get to call, IMO, but for the guys who would favor 'something over nothing' I too would vote with option 1. Get guys making vapor ASAP, get them making better vapor as soon after that as convenient?

I'm struggling with the Persei and the 5.0 cartridges. I've got the Omicron working with the 2.4 carts, and I can get the Persei working with the 2.4 carts. I loaded wax into the 5.0 cart. I tried priming the cartridge with the Omicron first. When I started with the 5.0 cart in the Persei, I did seem to get some vapor from it for one short pull. However, now I can't get any. The cartridge does not feel blocked. I've tried putting heat on the middle to get the stuff to the bottom of the cartridge. The cartridge lights up. I put about .5 gram in it.

I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I think that cart is toast. If you're watching as "the cartridge lights up" you're doing dry burns. At full power. If it does start feeding it's probably going to leak chronically past burnt seals.

High performance carts are much less forgiving than 2.4s which is why the advice is to stick with 2.4s until you truly understand (and have mastered) the system. 2.4s will let you skate by minor issues that would kill a more powerful cart.

Remelting 'stuff in the middle' is always dicey, which is why you preheat, it should not be counted on.

There was evidently a load issue (I suspect the traditional not preheating the center part) that has kept the wicks from priming (you should not have switched from 3.7 Volts until it was primed correctly and the wicks running wet).

My advice is to salvage what you can, and stick with 2.4s until you load them such that they don't need any priming every time before putting marginal loads in high power carts and cutting loose. The high power carts can work well (lots of vapor at some expense in taste), but it takes genuine skill to do it well.

Good luck.

Hi everybody, been a lurker for a while and thank you all for the informative site. You guys were instrumental in helping me decide on a Persei.

r.e: delay of the Hercules chamber.

How does it affect other items that i ordered with the Hercules? Don't want to have to wait indefinitely to get my Persei.

Thanks!

BLAZING OG

Vaping is a way of life!
Me too I remembered late last night that the next day was the day advised to ship my old Hercules, so off it went today! I never tried using oils on it so I look forward to finally trying it out! When people finally get the SR-71, please post when you get yours, ill do the same!
Oh I intend to, as soon as i get it in my hands, off we go !!!!
lol lol lol
Iam glad you remembered, the more reviews or videos we can pump out the better for all FC'ers

Unless your tanks are radically different from mine, this is not correct. Mine definitely have a deep well in the bottom the heater rod sticks into full length. The sintered metal is not designed to drip anything I believe, but rather absorb and evaporate the concentrate from within it's bulk (much like the porous ceramic in TV products)....hence the vent in the top of the can.

Do you actually have the tanks? Are they really different from mine?

OF
OF, that interesting my tanks have the hole on the bottom but dont fit all the way down onto the rod just the tip, and by the looks of it the part of the rod that gets red hot is not inside the tanks !!!
hmmmmm maybe i got defective tanks, makes me think!!!!

Guys we have an issue with Hercules we have to push it back, one of the parts are causing an issue and we can do a fix in office but we rather do it right.

This is what we can do right now.

Do a in house temporary fix, and then send out new parts later,

or we delay the Hercs until new parts are made.

What do you guys want to do ?

If I can get to vaping asap, id rather do option #1

Great job D9V

I'am hoping those instruction come up quickly, I'am eager to test this puppy out!!!
I feel compelled to make a bunch of videos and get overly-medicated in the name of science.................A perfect excuse to get into the SR-71 and go soaring sky high!!!!!!!!!
I need my SR-71 ASAP for Further R&D (Research & development)

Thanks, BoB L for all those awesome videos, keep'em coming!!!! lol

Hey guys I gotta thank bob on this one, without his reviews we would not have seen this issue and we wouldnt have come up with a new kick ass feature.

AAF = Adjustable Air Flow.

Ataxian if you want to add the lock washers, all you would need is 2 x #10 External Lock washers, then what you need to do is take a hammer and hit em a few times to flatten them out, and once done, remove the nut that holds the ceramic rod in place throw both on, close one hold and tighten the nut. Re assemble to look the same way, make sure the ceramic rod is place like i explained and you should be ready to go.

Well aren't you the lucky one (j/k)! But seriously, I assume "POLLEN PELLETS" are some sort of concentrate? I was just wondering what they are because I've seen them mentioned before. I think I read that someone here invented them - idk, it was a while ago.

Of course he did! :)

Wednesday PERSEI Power!
Why you lucky so-and-so! (I'm a wizard with words tonight) :brow:
I'll be lucky to get mine by Saturday, assuming it ships tomorrow -
I look forward to your reports from the field while I wait for it, though.

I am diisappointed in the 2.4 ohm cartridges and I burned up my 5.0 ohm looking for heavy airflow.

Is this my best solution and is it ready for fast shipment?

I have some in my work shop. Will do before medication trials.

Will Do!

gh.
POLLEN PELLETS are a way of using up my failed carts.
Mixed with Keif and some fine ground Flowers and compressed like HASH.
HASH I PREFER.
POLLEN PELLETS ARE POORMANS HASH.
When I'm out I will make HASH instead!
I like HASH.
The SR71 will be great for all the different crap I make.
Fun to play with flavors:

I love to medicate is that so wrong?

I have about 7 - 2.4 CARTS.
lOVE 'M never pre-burn.

The HERCULES SR71 will be more forgiving however I love the 2.4 carts and plan to always use them. Now the HERCULES will be my night cap for sure! "OF" is the expert when it comes to carts! Black PERSEI with a BLACK HERCULES SR71 in a BLACK OLD CAR! 13 1/2 years old.
Please don't laugh at least it's paid for!

I managed to salvage a bit from my 5.0 cartridge and put it, together with bits of this and that into a 1.5 cartridge. I don't have an extra 2.4. After several attempts I got the 1.5 working and now it seems to be working great.

I do seem to be having trouble properly priming the carts. It took me a lot of effort to get my Omicron 2.4 working.

Can someone explain why a 5.0 cart. It seems they require more battery power, are more finicky, and burn up your stuff faster. It makes sense to have the 7.4 for the Hercules, but with these oil carts I really don't understand why a 5.0 cart would be better. Also, what is more difficult or challenging about the 1.5 carts? I don't find using it that different from a 2.4.

Finally, am I the only one who feels like the Persei doesn't feel as refined as the Omicron? This is based on the feeling in my hand and the operation of the power button.

Sounds like you figured it out! No but seriously. That's exactly why you'd use a 5.0. To burn more of your goods faster.

They heat up quicker, basically. You gotta be a little more careful on the button.

Nope, but again, it's how the PERSEI is designed!
You wouldn't drive a F1 CAR for a comfortable cruise!
But you would drive it to WRECK S***!

I would suggest those two statements don't go together. If you're having a lot of trouble with 2.4s you're not there yet. That seems like a lousy standard to shoot for. The challenging part is, I think, to do it right. Keeping the cart under control so it doesn't overheat the goods or damage the seals on one end, and doesn't plug up on you on the other. Five Ohm carts are basically twice the power of 2.4s (with each driven with the appropriate voltage). You therefore can get into trouble faster and deeper and you basically get one chance per cart to keep it pristine. 1.5s are between the two in power, favoring the high side. They were the high output carts before higher voltage and dual heads with Persei.

There are two heaters in each cart to control, one makes vapor, that part's easy. The other preheats the oil, mismanage that one and you cook the oil before it makes it to the vaporizing heater. Since that heater is twice the power too it's very easy to overheat it while messing with the other one. With wet wicks and 2.4 Ohm carts you barely have enough power available to screw it up, more powerful carts not so. You need to get to a point where controlling the vaporizing heater is second nature, automatic for you so you can learn how to control 'the hidden one' got get the oil to feed properly.

You can learn to ride motorcycles by jumping on a 500 pound super bike, but it's not the recommended way. Same general idea. It's an idea based on long experience of lots of users. That makes the basis of the advice, experience. Take advantage of that experience and advice or replow the same old field, your call.

Stick with the 2.4s until you master them, not just have good luck, own the suckers. Use only good concentrates that pass the foil test. Be careful to properly preheat the center section of the cart in loading. Weigh your carts empty (they're all different), add no more than half a gram, wait until you're down to .2 or so before topping up. Don't do dry burns for any reason. Follow those guidelines and you'll almost certainly have excellent, predictable, results. Same as the rest of us.

Use a random or unproven approach and expect random results at best? If there were better shortcuts we'd tell you........
