Hello.
Just got my DV. Ordered it from Vaposhop (great service) in the end. I will post on the appropriate thread regarding the retailer.Giving it a 3 hour charge now. Just so you know I had to switch mine on to get it to charge. The serial number is 1E2000186.
Initial impressions are very positive. It has a lovely feel to it, sturdy and not cheap. The green finish is very nice too. There's a rubber smell (which I like) on it at the moment but I'm sure that'll go once I do a couple of initial burn-ins. I'll report back once I've used it a few times and we'll see how it compares to my Solo.
Thanks, as always, for all the info here. The expertise on this forum is staggering.

Think you're impressed now, wait until you get the bill......

Seriously (for a moment), the 'new tennis shoe smell (as Brother Stu so aptly named it) does fade fairly quickly with both time and temperature (you might consider leaving it out in the sun for a while?).

Congrats on your new purchase, IMO a good machine but one that takes a little more 'getting used to' than many. Don't be shy about exploring techniques, this is definitely not a 'one size fits all' deal here. Most find fine grind, very dry, lightly packed a good starting point. And remember there's only a tiny amount in there, the better the bud quality, the better the vapor.

Best wishes.

Thanks OF. I don't think I would be able to afford the bill for your expertise and knowledge, let alone all the others! Always enjoy your posts and your comprehensive and thorough explanations, particularly on technical subjects.

3 hour initial charge cycle is almost complete so I'll do 2 or 3 burn-ins at max temp before I try it out.
Thanks for your advice reagrding the grind etc. Sounds like a good way to start.

Thanks as always.

You're quite welcome, of course, thanks for the kind words. Many of us are here to help those we can, this is great stuff, you know, much too good to keep secret. Guys with real needs can live better, cheaper and longer this way, a tough combination to beat IMO.

I know what you mean about 'a debt you can't repay'.....lucky we didn't use our real names here, isn't it? Real cowboys don't use their real names when the go to town you know.

Best wishes.

Sup guys, anyone have the stats on the tubing size for the DaVinci mouthpiece? I neglected to measure the bubbler I have (trying to do a similar set up as that nice one a few pages back)

Trying to figure out the best set up, the bubbler I'm using has the whip glass joint adapter, so perhaps a whip attached to that, then that tube attached to the DaVinci snorkel

Or straight snorkel to a silicone stopper with hole. (19mm joint size)

Hi all, is it ok to plug the davinci in quickly while warming up to the set temp just so it goes
faster? And then when it's at the desired point I unplug it for the session. Will this hurt
the battery in any way?

Should be no problem, lots of guys do that. IIRC it cuts a minute or so from the heat up time which probably means 3 or 4 more minutes vaping?

Enjoy it.

I don't have the exact measurement, but I used aquarium tubing. It was as little loose on the nipple that the Davinci tube attaches to, so I warmed up the aquarium tubing and stretched it open with needle nose pliers to get it around the whole metal piece. It was a big stretch but now that it's on it's solid, so much that I can pick it up by the tubing (although I try not to do this). The good part is that I can still unscrew it from the unit as one piece, tube and metal fitting. AND I slide the little black rubber cover back in place so it's all nice and neat. Only downside is there is no room for the braided fabric. But that won't be an issue it you're going for a long whip. Hope this makes sense.

First time on forum. Looks real informative. Now for my problem. I purchased my Da Vinci in March and use it maybe 2-3 times a week at the most. I doubt that I exceeded the battery life by this time. Day before yesterday when I went to use it and turned it on, all I got on the screen was three dashes and the small word "Actual" The only light on is the display. None of the buttons work. I plugged it into the charger and the screen did not change. Kept it plugged in until today and everything is still the same. Is this a battery fail problem or other electrical issues? I see that the battery warranty is only 90 days which I have surpassed. Has anyone sent one back for a battery replacement? What did they charge to replace the battery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could contact DaVinci directly @ http://www.davincivaporizer.com/contact-us/, call them using 800-366-7224
Or find one of DaVinci's posts on the form, click on there avatar and start a conversation with them here. I think that will be the quickest way to get you to a positive solution. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

So I had a couple issues that I thought would make for interesting discussion. When I use mine, I notice a small wisp of vapor coming out the top of my straw occasionally between draws, so I started covering the top of my straw with a Camelback nipple. It is a perfect fit and you just bite down like you would to drink from a Camelback. No more lost vapor. What other minor "comfort mods" have folks made to their DV?

Also, odor. Even though I completely clean it with cotton swabs and iso (also take all the screens and soak them in iso until clear) every 4 to 5 days, I find the unit has a mildly cooked herbaceous smell from a few feet away. I have been using multiple cotton pouches to deaden the smell and cushion the DaVinci for travel, but they begin to smell also after a few days. I don't feel like constantly throwing them in the wash with my socks, because they are a pain to relocate and don't tend to make it back to me in a timely manner. How do you deal with the smell and carrying the DV?

While I don't have this problem, why not make the inner bag a baggie or other plastic bag? Not only would it keep the smell in, but the smell wouldn't get out (to 'contaminate' the cotton).

Sounds like OF has the answer (again) dropping it in a ziplock bag seems darn near too simple . But it works.

In my experience I can clean the DaVinci itself very well with pretty much zero smell But the flexistraw is a different matter I can't find a way to get the smell out of the braided cover .
I have one flexistraw that fell apart so I removed the covering and use it when out and about with the DV . I do carry my DV in an Iolite case with the snorkel in a ziplock baggie if I'm going to be sitting back sharing with someone .

EDIT: also the old Hippy trick of a drop of patchouli oil on the case and me helps

I'd be willing to try it, though I worry about the crinkle sound when I take it out for a quickie sesh. I carry it with me for stealth medicating while out and about and also sometimes have to pack it away in a hurry. Of course i will have to try it out, for SCIENCE!

Does anyone know if the green light is suppose to come on when the unit is done charging? I need to know so I can RMA my unit if it's not functioning.

I cut the snorkel down as much as possible. It pretty much looks like the rubber mouthpiece is sticking straight out of the unit. I also use the oil cans for flowers to keep the oven nice and clean. I never have smell issues so maybe these two methods worked to lessen the odor. I have to put my nose an inch or so from the unit to smell anything. And it passes the wife test who hates the smell and can detect a fart in a hurricane.

That would be the function of the cloth bags that no longer absorb or transmit smell, right? Muffle the noise? Just how quiet are you trying to be here?

You might even investigate a longer stem and leaving it in the bag as it warms up and is hit?

No the green light does not come on when charged. The battery indicator will go from cycling to a solid battery when fully charged. Don't forget to have the main power switched to on depending on your unit. The DV2 with the magnetic lid can be charged with the main power on or off, while the original DV that has the lock button lid needs to have the main power switched on to charge.

I've got the DV2 with magnetic lid but still have to power on to charge it.
Also it has the same minor problem as my original dv, they both never seem to stop charging, the battery always keeps going, no matter how long I let it keep going.
But when I disconnect, I always get a battery with full bars so for me I don't need to send it back.

Okay my battery indicator does not become solid. I have left the unit charging overnight and the battery indicator still shows it to be charging. (This is the new unit btw) I do not recall having this problem on the old unit. I would like to send this back but their customer support is not responding to my e-mail.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
They aren't going to respond cause they are in the middle of a mess with the ascent. Since it is new the suggestion is use it for a few session, charge, use charge and in a few days it should act normal. This has been reported before and that was the fix...training the battery. If not send that shit back.

Belgianvapor pretty much said this two posts ago but I'll ask: When you unplug the DV does it show 4 bars ? if it does your DV is most likely OK .
