Arizer Solo

hey you guys i just have a solo and im super poor but i would like to know about using a ps2 slim charger as a heating power source as i usually use it at home i have the right size port i found laying around but if i get the polarity right do you guys think it would work?

ill make it and report back when i get the money if it actually works or not and i will triple check polarity because i think thats what everyone gets wrong and ill make a little tutorial on how you guys can do it also

Welcome to the Forum.

Please take some time to review the posts on this topic, lots of guys tried it, nobody reported long term satisfaction I recall. Some reported overheating (even fire?) in addition to breakdowns. It seems the quality is variable (lots of junk out there....) and even at it's best is marginal for the heavy duty long term draw PA mode causes.

If you want to do it cheap, Jameco has a 7.5 Volt supply under $20 that's worked well for several members. You also probably want a $1.50 adapter they sell as well.

Pipes (and maybe soon others??) can also supply you a solution to this (includes charging and auto use) in a month or so when he 'hits the street'.

The connector is positive in the center, there's a chart on the bottom of the Solo. You need to stay above 7.0 and under 9.0. A tenth or two over or under will fault it out. While long term current is under 2 Amps you need to be ready for more. 3 Amps (maybe even a little more) for a few seconds, 2.5 for maybe 10 or 15? The 2 Amp supplies I tried didn't cut it.

Anyway, that 'obvious' approach seems not to be reliable, best check it out first.

Good luck.

OF

Edit: If the 'Dr. Electric' is more than just a fun name, why not make your own preregulator like Pipes did? A LM350, a heat sink, a couple resistors, a capacitor and some cables and a 2.5 Amp 12 Volt supply and you're good to go..... OF

Hi can anyone tell me how to reclaim the solo stems and make chocolate milk or direct me to the page that tells you how to do it. I've been looking but haven't been able to find it. Thanks!

I don't have a link, but the gist of it is you get milk (the fattier the better) to the point of near boiling with a microwave/stove, then stir your solo stem into it until all of your stem hash is out.

Surely you'll share the 4 things better than the Solo that you've purchased? I've got a credit card and I'm not afraid to use it.

You'll be getting a letter in the mail. Don't throw it in your stack of bills that you have no intention of paying (OF has done this... ask him) and enjoy my re-gifted gift.

:peace:

Stu...

Just received the letter my man. This O-Ring is amazing!! I am so pissed it's taken me this long to try and get something like this. This is an incredible innovation!!

Everyone here is awesome. I gotta remember to start posting more.

What do you guys find your ideal temps to be? I know it's "everyone finds their own"...well...what are your own?

Help FC, I have a Solo emergency!

I accidentally blew into my PN WT while vaping and water somehow got into the GonG and consequently into the unit. Now the unit doesn't seem to be heating up at all. I don't think that much water got inside, but I could hear it sizzling against the heating element after it happened. I shut the unit off and shook it until it seemed like all the water was out. Am I screwed?

Update: I opened the unit and everything seemed dry, no damage to the circuitry, battery or anything like that. However, I think the heating element might be fried. The unit has been turned on since the incident (probably should have waited longer, I know) and while the battery and indicator lights seem to be functioning normally, the heater does not work. At one point it seemed like it was heating up slightly, but the unit eventually shuts off once it realizes it won't be able to reach the selected temperature. Am I totally screwed or should I try reaching out to Kevin at Arizer?

Ok so this was a water pipe adapter that i made for the magic flight box, i then remembered i could fit my whip in the solo stem, this thing is fucking sweet. The in this pic is an 18/18 male adapter fitted into a slightly larger than 5/8th inch hole, the glass joint and wood fight tight but for added security and airtightness i added a thin bead of beeswax to seal it in, i don't think the adapter will ever get hot enough to melt the bees wax, its feels really sturdy in your hand and is smooth to the touch. I finished the Orange wood with Beeswax/mineral oil. The smaller hole is the same diameter as a launch-box stem, so it mates perfectly into the orange wood. Connected to the magic flight glass stem is a whip with another glass stem on the other side which makes a tight seal when used in conjunction with the tubing it forms a tight seal inside a solo stem. At leval 7 with top shelf flowers we had such a nice medication sesh today with the Mobius and a Sovernty. :science:
Enjoy

I did get tired of water last night and went right the the hes with the chillum attached as you have seen in Mr. Robots pics. The silicone tip is always attached to my PN. Now that I think about it I may try the chillum but I used to have a glass straw on it and it makes it to heavy with that vape. I still use it sometimes when I need the longer and cooler path.

Every Session now I have a SOLO STEM with a CHILLUM TIP!

i have reviewed this forum and last i checked 3 people did it and only one had success

i was told the original one from arizer was 8.5v at 5a so why wouldn't an 8.5v 5.56A (i think) power source work is the current too much?

what do you mean by long term current?

Search OF's posts and it explains the current and draw and all the bs I don't understand but it was an interesting read. Basically in my terms the solo is finicky.

The short answer is that not all power supplies are made equal. It's not that the PS2 Slim supply delivers too much current, it's that the PS2 Slim PSU can't handle the kind of power the Solo wants

Has anyone found a reliable source for these chillums that fit over Solo stems yet? I don't have a LHS believe or it not in my area!

How loose do you guys pack it? Do you stir? I know it's "ymmv" but if you don't mind, can you write out your process from start to finish? I'm having a hard time finding what I like since I've never smoked before...

I just fire up the Solo at 6-7, suck the herb in with the stem from my grinder, place the stem (GonG) on my vapor lung and two-three lung busting hits later I am thinking that while it was definitely enough to medicate me, the taste was so good that I throw the dark brown ABV out and suck in another load! :D No stirring needed, loose coarse grind for best convection effects! Cheers!
