Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Any insiders have any definitive dates? I'm almost mad that I was down to the Solo or the Pax for my next purchase, then on a whim I caught word of the Ascent. I was so excited to at least have a better portable vape than my MFLB!

But I'm willing to wait, as this looks like exactly what I want out of a vaporizer. I'm not too impressed with the chamber of both the Pax and the Solo, so I'm hoping the Ascents smaller and easier to transport chamber fills the role.

Hey HighRy,

I was the same boat in wanting to make a move on a new portable vaporizer until I started researching the Ascent. Their Facebook Page says release is right around the corner, but who know how long their corners are! I have heard a few other 'release' dates around, from July 15 to August 15. Hopefully it will be released before the summer is up!

Hi if the initial reports of the ascents oil jar produces half hearted whispers, what is it like with some solid hash?
Would you have to load the hash, say a nice crumbly brown or a sticky black into the glass jar to use it or could you just put it in the ceramic bowl and would any of it fall through the small holes in the bottom?
I am just trying to figure out if the ascent is a all singing all dancing jack of all trades or weather its just good at doing one thing. i.e herbs?
As I suffer from Fibromyalgia I need something good to medicate with, and since I have been toking for the last 30 years I still enjoy a good hash, as most people don't recognize the smell and I find greenery enjoyable but to stinky.

When mine arrives, I will probably fit a screen on the bottom of the oven, just to prevent fall through. No biggie:cool:.

It's not ceramic, hasn't been for some time. It's Stainless Steel and definitely not rated for concentrates. You need bud, ABV, cotton or similar to keep it from ever actually contacting the bottom. If it goes down the holes there's no way to ever get it back, the oven is glued together in key places.

Edit: Forget that, I had the wrong vape, it's not Solo. Having never seen one, it's only a guess, but if putting solid hash in the bowl was a good idea I suspect the maker would say so? He's sure to have considered if not tried it.

OF - I'm confused by your response. We're talking about the Ascent, not the Solo. The Ascent has a glass bowl. Cotton or screen should work great w/hash!

I just got home from work and decided to give both of your suggestions a try since I had some bho and traditional hash...
I took pictures I may post, but anyway...with the unit PLUGGED IN, I placed both (seperate of corse)in the glass jar, lid off and vaped them both at 430° (max temp) for about 10 minutes
Conclusion...the vape plugged in made a little difference in the amount of visible vapor, but (as slim stated) still nothing close to the gpen or oil dome. ..I think the reason is, is because the ascent doesn't get red hot like a nail or coil BUT I definetly feel the effects (which may explain some things when I read this post in the morning)
The traditional hash had slightly (not too mention worthy) more vapor production than the bho and after vaping the hash was still present, just soft. So if your looking for huge clouds with hash of any kind. ..not gonna happen with the acent (in glass jars at least) but if you dont care about clouds and just look for effect. ..its effective and dont think I would want to try it without them because if the holes got clogged the airflow would suffer (imo)

Hello all! My journey to this forum started when I decided to replace my No2. Still worked fine, but really too big to carry around.
I rolled $250 in quarters and dimes from my change purse the night I saw the Pax. Found this forum and decided against it. Saw the Thermovape T-1 and decided against it. Mivape (we all know what happened there), Inhalater, Launch Box and so on. Finally found the Ascent and have been waiting patiently ever since.
In one of my Ascent related day dreams, I thought about a docking station with a fan built in to fill bags. We saw VST shotgun in his review. Just throwing that out there to maybe get a conversation started while we wait. This thread has been looking a little thin lately and I need it to help pass the time!

One thing i'm curious about is whether the Ascent really does heat the entire bowl evenly without needing to stir. I'm finding it a little hard to believe that I wouldn't need to stir at least once to get all the vapor. Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not?

It does NOT need to be stirred at all to achieve an even browness throughout the bowl. And if you want to avoid using the screen, dont fine grind...I find breaking it up by hands works really well and nothing gets through the screen and it is still evenly brown, if you would like pictures to confirm/analyze I can take some later

Can you shake the Ascent ?
Instead of stirring .

thanks for the confirmation on that. so after a while of hitting on one bowl without stirring, the bowl gets fully cashed? You don't get any additional vapor at all from stirring toward the end of it's life? that's awesome.

ime, you can pretty much always get another cloud by stirring just about any vape with flowers in it... but it ain't always all that great.

So I put a flower (0.2gr) whole (unbroken, exactly as pictured) into the ascent and used the vape-cycle setting and vaped it at 375°f for 3:00, 385°f for 3:00 and 400°f for 4:00I just noticed a taste but no real visible vapor, until it hit 400°f when I looked into the bowl it was still pretty green. ..So I vaped it again at 420°f for another 7 minutes and was feeling good, so I took the flower out, it broke into a couple pieces while removing it from the bowl (as pictured) the texture of it was dry and brittle-ishThen I broke it up with my fingers and it was an even brown all the way through...I hope that adresses your concerns about the need to stir/shake the contents of the bowl

Can we talk about potency of the smell of the ascent excretes? I know that we've touched on the subject before but I really feel that we skipped over the major details. can anyone that owns one comment on how smelly a room will get during use AND after use? Also how long the smell (if any) will remain?

I touched on the subject before and I will say it again...its smelly, it has four holes on the bottom that create zero draw resistance effect...but they do smell, I was smoking in target and heard people commenting, as well as on the bus. It might have something to do with the strains smell too, it dissipates faster than smoke, but there is still a smell...more-so thansl some of the other portables I have used

Thanks but does the herb in the vape smell or does the vapor smell? Like if I am vapeing in a room and I put the vape away how much of the smell will linger ?
