Discontinued The Herbalizer

I am trying to figure out what the thing sticking out the back of it is or left side when looking at the cross section. It kind of looks like a WiFi antenna or some kind of kick stand. Has that been discussed?

Was also wondering about that and then simply figured it must be for power if nobody else more in-the-know didn't say anything about it. Wonder if tweek nailed it??

I think it is a tactile switch that is engaged when the unit is sitting down, and disengages when the unit is knocked over or lifted up. The VaporBrothers has a function like this.

The other possibility is that it is an ambient air temperature sensor, which I imagine would be important for the precise temperature control they have in this.

I doubt it is an antenna. They can make them very small nowadays and the antenna gets printed right on to the circuit board. That's how they make the powerful antennas in those pico-USB wireless dongles or our smartphones.

Maybe it is a breathalyzer for weed... if you are too stoned you can't use this device

What's the compartment in the lid for?

My greatest concern at this point is availability of extra herb containers.

I do not represent the company but I would assume they will sell extra herb containers to those interested, from the looks of the build quality, you probably will not need one any time soon. FYI it was only after 5 years that I bought another valve for my Volcano, not because it wore out, instead because I wanted to try the Easy Valve.

Looks like a detachable power cord.

It can't be the stash box, because they're asking about something that hasn't been revealed. They posted information about the stash box way back on April 26th on the blog. Screen cap below:

edit: I guess it could be if the right hand didn't tell the left hand that the stash box was already revealed... :)

I have an idea of what it is. Seems like there are a couple cool surprises left.

Anyway more photographs:

You can see the light in the first image turned on. The next three images are the three ranges from mellow to intense. Those terms may or may not change in a later version... I don't know for sure if they have or will. In the first image the blue bars to the right of the set temperature indicator is the progress bar of the device cooling down. As you lower the temp that bar will shrink down to the set temp as the temperature cools.

The next round of photographs are really cool. :whoa: Will post those soon.

Secret feature? Hmmmmm....maybe a battery so you could run it without being plugged in? That's the only sensable thing that comes to mind, this thing seems like it does so much it's hard to think of what it could be. Maybe something for concentrates??? Please tell me there's a prize for guessing it lol

Great pics as always, SliM. It's worth noting that all the existing pictures are taken of a painted, 3D printed enclosure. The final bodies will have even better fit and finish. The display and surrounding infographics are also improved upon.

Yes there is a detachable power cord--a great feature, but not the hidden one. You guys are getting pretty close, and a couple of your posts could solve the puzzle if put together correctly.

Remote power on/off??

Maybe the cord in the cutaway is a USB cable and you can remotely program the Herbalizer? Like setting it up so you have to put in a password to unlock the stash box compartment or the lid or even just to power it on...

Or, and this is unlikely because it draws so much power, maybe the NASA engineers figured out a way to power it from USB ports on your laptop. :D

It is starting to look more like an RJ45 jack to me. Maybe it is hard wired for Gigabit ethernet. LOL Another thing to keep in mind is this is a cross section so assuming it is perfectly centered it could be twice as wide as the picture leads on.

@RJ45 jack ... it is far cheaper in parts and assembly cost to use WiFi. it's hard to find a processor chip that doesn't have WiFi or Bluetooth already built in, basically for free. Soldering an RJ45 jack to a motherboard is just adding another point of failure. And the software to add networking ...

The plastic box is the stash container that we've already seen the moulds for.

The weird thing on the left is just the power cord coming in, I'm pretty sure. Has two big internal contacts. I think the weird plug shape is just a rendering limitation.

As for the unrevealed feature, it looks like there's a one-way release valve that makes it so when you suck it draws hot air from the outer heater chamber into the herb, and if you blow through the whip it passes over the herb, closes the one-way valve, and is routed through the inner chamber of the heater. I assume this is a smoke-buddy sort of function, where you can exhale your lungful of vape into it and have it disappear. Since it appears to go through the heater, I figure it's just being incinerated to the point where all the aromatics break down, but maybe it's some sort of nifty mini-vapour-still or something that you can harvest reclaim from? Actually, on reflection, it's the probably just rerouting it to whatever it uses for the room deodoriser function. This could just be the hottest part of the heater, but maybe they have a strong UVB lamp or some other cool trick hidden in there too?

I guess this means the bowl socket serves as the intake for the room deodoriser function also?

This would be cool too. They've made the unit so self-contained in the "pod" in so many other aspects, it would certainly fit in with that philosophy to give it the ability to run under its own power, even if only for short durations. I doubt it's the case, though, what with size constraints, cost, and technical hurdles, but we can all cross our collective fingers.

Now, THAT, would be a sweet feature!

There's a small grill right behind the main latch in front of the bowl. The cutaway view shows that it leads to a cavity... my guess is that there's a filter in there, and you can put your mouth onto that grill to exhale into the Herbalizer if you need to be odor-free.
