Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Thanks for the advice Snappo. I'm really hoping the small 9mm filters will do the trick. I need a vape that I can fit in my pocket and take biking or skiing, and that glass filter setup would be too cumbersome. I recommend the carbon filter for people who are really sensitive. I've been a smoker (never tobacco) for 23 years, and have struggled with this issue tremendously since I was 18. When I first tried a vaporizer years ago, I found it to be less congesting, but still bad enough to mess up my day. With this method I tried on a lark a couple months ago, for the first time in my adult smoking life, I can just enjoy the high without hacking up phlegm. It's Fing awesome!
I'm going to try your excellent suggestion to use a charcoal filter. My lungs will thank you for it!

I've been checking out all the reviews and vids with the ascent and was really checking out where the ascent opens and the space between the the bowl and chamber and the nit itself.
On vapelife you can see the uniit has a little Aline of space between the two parts of the vape before its opened.
On the smell the truth review you can see a pic that definitely shows a tighter seal between the bottom and top of the unit.
Is this one of the improvements to the seal ?
It looks tighter check it out guys and tell me what you think. Ok
Clasp? Where and whats it look like? Maybe they just made a better seal between the 2 sections n this ascent.
Tell me what you think check this site out smell the truth and then check out vape wills first video, check out the ascent in the box and compare the two units and the seal between the top and bottom sections.

I can't really see a diff in design from these pics. What I do find in these pics are well-designed seals on both stem half and bowl! Of course it will be crucial to both seals that both halves of the Ascent tightly meet when closed. With regular use, a good sturdy hinge should hold that in check for a good while. JMO

Going on a assumption, I think thats a pre-release unit. I only say that because the buttons are not flush with the front like I think. Again thats assuming the ascent (release version) will have flush buttons.

I have only used the MFLB (my first vape which I bought this year). I am thinking about buying an ascent as more of an at-home vape, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. With the MFLB, I get decently buzzed at 1-2 hits, and really baked at 3-4. More than that seems like too much. I am not sure if it is because the quality herbs I use, or if I just have a low tolerance. Does that sound below-average for an MFLB? My main question is, would I get the same result if I bought an ascent or a solo? Or would I be able to take more hits to get medicated. It is very efficient, but not quite as fun to take only 1-2 hits, and it might be a waste to get an ascent when I have to turn it off right after it gets heated up.

Getting decently buzzed at 1-2 hits, and really baked at 3-4, is not at all below the norm. Sounds like your equipment is doing a good job for you, away or at home...so why change. There are many reasons why we might consider getting a new vape: performance, portability, stealth, multi-user, efficiency, style, etc. Or simply must have the latest and greatest. You're in a nice position - don't really need it, but kinda really want it:rofl:!

Yeah I'm a numbers guy and a sucker for the latest tech :D. Any idea how MFLB compares to vapes like these potency-wise?

Personally, my MFLB gets me just as high as my Cloud.... even with less material; it's more efficient in ime.

More manual operation, but once you get the knack of it--the MFLB is quality vape--producing nice clouds!

Not as consistent big clouds, but it's as good as any vape out there.

Vapour is vapour, but there are lots of people who claim that they find a difference between devices. This seems to be personal, so the best advice I can offer is not to decide based on potency but on other factors like portability, cost, etc.

I think it's safe to say that the ascent will get you more baked, faster than the mflb only because you will be using way more material (more material=more vapor at least in MOST cases)
(IMO) the flight box is like a one-hitter vape; while the ascent would be like a regular bowl...that's why there will always be a place in my heart and collection for the mflb, if you haven't done so yet get some upgraded batteries too

You really don't need to clean this thing very often. After my initial clean I wanted to see how long I could go before it got too messy to use... well as of yesterday it was still working, but it it was dirty enough that I wanted to clean it. That is quite a few uses over a decent amount of time with out cleaning... Cleaning was pretty simple. ISO and hot water did the trick. The hardest part is the triangle part of the inner glass stem. The rest cleans up quite nicely.

Well I suppose you could just stick your glass stems in hot chocolate milk, isn't that what solo enthusiasts do?
Either way the glass stems look easy to clean functionally and visually.
The part I would be worried about is the area below the glass lined ceramic bowl.
There know way to get in there and the herb could fall through and collect there eventually I suppose, since it can fall through if ground to fine.
I guess there not much to do when cleaning this this remove and soak, simple right.
Can wait to clean mine lol
Soon very soon.

What grinders are the Ascent testers having the best success with? I am in the market for a new grinder (current is 2 pc with no keif screen) to go with my Ascent and wondering how fine a grind the Ascent prefers. I was thinking of a Santa Cruz Shredder or Space Case 4 piece.

Also, I got the following response to my inquiry about preorder status to gotvape.com. Great if this is accurate!
"We are just awaiting arrival of our units in hand, I can assure you that you will have your Ascent in hand at some point this month. The manufacturer is going to be giving me an update on the exact arrival date on Monday, so I will be sending out a mass email.

The best part about sticking with us through this process, is that you will have a unit in hand before they reach any smoke shop in the world.

I sincerely apologize for the delay, but I know that it will be worth it because you will have the top portable unit on the market."

I have never used either, but I have a 4 peice sharper stone grinder...the ascent prefers a coarse grind though, anything too fine and you will find yourself inhaling plant matter with your vapor (yuck!) You can even just break it up by hand in the ascent and it will still work good

this is for Snappo or anyone else interested in using a carbon filter in the Ascent. I wasn't able to get any help or information on this board, but I did manage to speak to a helpful representative at torontovaporizer.ca, and she informed me that the inside measurement of the Ascent mouthpiece is 8 mm, so a little too small for the 9mm carbon filters. I did, however, find an 8mm carbon filter online, and i'm gonna make sure to have plenty on hand for the arrival of my new Ascent! Torontovaporizer.ca is also offering a free high quality Zeus Bolt Grinder with pre-orders of the ascent, and it only ended up costing me 238 bucks American!
here's a link to the 8mm filters

Do the filters cut down on oud production or smell? Never have needed to use filters for medical reasons, but they seems like a good idea...if I get my replacement ascent tomorrow I might give them a try

Not really a fan of filters, as they tend to trap the good stuff. Interested in hearing what others think when they try them out.

i'm not sure what you mean by oud production, and I never really notice the smell of vapor, so it's hard for me to answer that question. I can tell you that for somebody like me, the difference is night and day. Using a carbon filter with my vape filters out something (I don't know what exactly), that my throat and nasal passages react to very strongly. without the filter, my body starts to react within seconds of taking my first hit, and my nasal passages start to close up and produce mucous, my eyes begin to swell, and my throat gets clogged with phlegm. When vaping with the filter, I don't get any of those symptoms.

no problem SliM, thanks for checking anyways. Tweek, it's hard to say if any good stuff is trapped by the filter, but I can tell you I still get hella baked lol

I'm with you, given my lifelong chronic bronchial condition. The fact that you seem to be 10 times more sensitive than me to something I barely feel still tells me that something is there that I don't necessarily need or want entering my lungs. Even if it cuts down on a tiny bit of flavor, or a smidgen of THC/CBD, no matter. The med effect I'm looking for will no doubt happen. My David Goldstein bubbler is big on diffusion which I'm sure traps flavor and a few constituents along the way, but the end result is always a blast nonetheless! Why exacerbate one medical condition while medicating another if it's avoidable? I'm definitely giving the filters a shot!
