Who bought the Bocote Slender Twig????? I finally went for a walk to decide between E-nano and UD. So I decide on the UD and the Bocote Twig...partly because it's in my brain the most as I have been eyeing it even before the current refresh....so I come back and it's GONE!!!!! Who bought it! Step forward SiR. I challenge you to a duel!
It was me! I. So sorry! I've been talking with Dave about getting me another dog, just pulled that dog out of inventory last night! I promise I'll treat her right! I promise!

Quick review of the 14mm gong available in the online store at underdogvapes.com
Restriction/airflow are perfect as it gets through a 6-arm bubbler. Load size is great (in my situation four solid rips and by solid I mean solid). Distance from the heatport on the unit when mating the two together is great, nice even toast and flavor is really nicely translated.

Nice one Dave, thank you

Dave & Amanda knocked it out of the park with these new GONG adapters. My fave for all my log vapes. Should've said something earlier!

It may be time for me to give these GONG adapter things a shot. Running low on the Silicone for the first time in forever lol. Dumb question, but I have no idea how many pages back it would be... the GonG's use the metal screens?

It uses the stainless steel screen but I'm able to easily clean the GonG stems without removing the screens. Therefore I'm still using the original fitted screens.

I didn't even need to use alcohol, just blasted it with hot water and the screen/stem came out pretty clean!

Just got my UD in the mail.. Came home from work, smoked a fatty, drank a beer, took some hits out of the Supreme, and then went outside too see a box laying next to the door!

First impressions of a UD Indian Rosewood Twig with the 3/8'' core and VVPS power supply: Hit it right on the head with this combo! Much more beautiful in person than in pics. Started out with 13 volts - too high. Then 12.4 - still too high. Then 11.0v - right on the money.

Hits have much more of an impact than my Ash PD. The Underdog is much more easy to draw from. Plus it's effortless to blow rich clouds getting close to that of a dialed in SSV. This is definitely the little log vape that could.:o

Highly, highly, highly recommend this vaporizer!:tup:

Ooh me next! Mine came today too! Here's both of them with my kettle bubbler :D

I love how you get an ever so subtle hint of the flavor of the wood, and how incredibly different (both fantastic!) they can be. I want to keep buying them to taste all of the different kinds of wood!

I've been eyeing those purple SCS's for awhile now. Nice choice

And beautiful pups as well :p

Thanks! I really like the purple to green contrast with herb and that shredder.:leaf:

I forgot to mention how awesome the wood grain on this Mulberry twig is, it reacts to the light and gets lighter or darker depending on how you're looking at it! Truly beautiful work!

No matter how hard I try I can never take a picture that captures how good looking my pup really is. I'm a pretty bad photographer, but I think it's one of those you gotta see it to believe it kind of things :p The wood grain is too deep and complex for a camera to fully capture, or my camera at least :ko:

But I'm with OG, especially with this new refresh this thread is lacking pictures. :smug:

A picture says 1000 words!

It doesn't seem like I'm going to be able to photograph the wood grain/light effect that I mentioned, I just can't manage to capture it.:(

You can sort of see the effect in my original picture though, but the pictures just don't do it justice, and I guess you'll just have to take my word on that. But as an Underdog owner yourself, I'm sure you know exactly what I mean!

So once again, looks like I owe Dave and UD a word of thanks . Power supply issues out the wazoo (only with one unit and a cable, just took a while to nail down exactly where the fault was), but over several cycles of communications and some trial and error ideas, we are back to fully functional. It's almost crazy how accommodating you have been. The last package came in last night, got plugged in this morning, and fogging by noon.

Good product, good people, great customer service.

Now I just need to place an order for some tubing and that GonG piece .

Well, thankfully last time around I ordered a replacement standard supply too. Have been chugging along okay, but definitely runs about a volt higher than I generally use. Nice to have the dial back, and after all of the back and forth it took I had to at least come give a shout out, since he wouldn't take anything else LOL.

Nice to see pictures of all the new Dogs in their new homes.. thanks guys. :)

Working my way through the standard Monday morning backlog of emails and messages, about half way through now.. will finish before the day is over.

After that I'm starting work on some special pieces and also on pieces for the next refresh.

I'll be back. :borg:

Great Scott!
Dave I haven't forgot about sending my King's Jester out to be retrofitted. Just busy busy busy!

I can't wait to get it back with a nice snug core. Do you have any WONGS for 18mm? What are people who want to use it with 18mm glass using?

Maybe I can get a nice milk shot with my 2 pieces.

Hey! I'm looking to upgrade from an mflb. I've only really had it for 5 months or so, but with daily usage it has just become a little too much of a hassle and has left me desiring something a lot more powerful. I think the batteries are much weaker than they used to be and maybe things would be easier if I got some new batteries, but regardless, my tolerance has shot through the roof and I know it will still just take a long time with the mflb. I guess what I mean to say with all this is that I need a better 'daily driver.' I want to be able to just breathe in and not have to do anything and have a super simple vaping experience, so:

the UD seems pretty perfect for me - I was originally thinking of going for a Solo or maybe waiting for an Ascent, but: the Solo isn't really all that stealthy as far as portability goes, and if something is portable it has to be stealthy in my opinion, so it would really end up being just a home vape - a nice one too, but why not actually get a home vape right? The ascent seems really rad, but if I can get the mflb to do the trick again with some new batteries, again that could take care of my portable needs and even if the ascent has all the cool ass features like the automatic temperature changer, it seems like maybe I don't really need to upgrade the portable route so much as get a better home delivery mechanism, and so I am left with the most logical option of getting a home vape. Also I reallllly don't want to have to wait so long for the ascent.

I have a few questions about the UD:

I will be in a dorm come fall, and so discretion is pretty important - why I would err towards the solo, but it seems like the UD is pretty mellow/low-key (much more so than something like a dbv or huge eq) as far as blending in. My question is, what is it like smell wise? While you're vaping and the plant matter is in the tube, is it passively super smelly since the plant is close to the heating element? Does the smell disperse a lot in between hits etc? I would be taking the usual precautions like window open, sploof etc, so it's not so much the exhaled vapor I'm worried about as much as any passive smell from heating the plant matter.

Also, this should be worlds apart from my mflb right, like infinitely better?

Stems: Is there any reason to not get 2 GonGs when I order it? Seems like they are nicer, don't have any plastics/silicone to weird me out, etc - fragile, but I'm careful with all my stuff. I don't have a water pipe, hopefully it's in my future but given that I am student and don't have a ton of funds/water pipes are usually not the most discreet, I probably won't have one for a while (side note: can anybody recommend any of those short, super simple bongs? I've seen them and think they're really cool but can never find any). Also, have I misunderstood something and the GonGs are only for use with bongs, not direct draw?

Finally, power supply/temperatures: I find I like to vape pretty hot because I am mainly an indica person/vape primarily for bed and I like the heavier feelings then - is it easier to get higher temperatures by just drawing slower and having it heat the plant matter for longer/less cooling because of less airflow etc, or do you have to have the vvps to get to higher temperatures? Or is this where you use the 'bowl distance' to adjust temperature? Is it still variable with a glass stem?

Is there a functional difference in the various designs, or is it purely aesthetic? The one that i realllly like is the Oregon County Myrtle - so beautiful, so simple.

Sorry for all these questions, thanks so much for taking the time to read them - maybe they have been answered before in this thread, but sometimes it is hard to wade through 270 posts trying to find the answer. Thanks for helping a noob out!

Also, customer service seems pretty amazing.

Smell between hits is very minimal as you generally remove the bowl from the UD. So the plant matter is not being continuously heated.

The GonG's could be used for direct draw, but they would be very short and probably a harsher hit until you paired it with something. I've used mine with just a simple J-Hook though with great results.

I haven't personally used the stock power supply but running my VVPS at stock ranges I can say will be more than enough power if you draw slow and have it packed closer to the element.

Between designs the only real difference would be heat up times and heat retention due to mass. Functionally though, all the same.

There is definitely still a smell while using basically any vape with MJ. i used the UD in my dorm room last year and found that the smell mostly was due to the process of taking out the MJ and grinding it up. of course it will also smell with exhaled vapor but a sploof and a window with a fan blowing out would definitely help the smell situation.

Also, this should be worlds apart from my mflb right, like infinitely better?

I own both the MFLB and the UD, which are my only vapes. they both do a great job for their intended use so i wouldn't really go with the word 'better' but yes they are worlds apart. the MFLB works great on-the-go and my UD is my irreplaceable home-vape. i think you'll find that they compliment each other very well.

I'm not completely sure but from what i've come to understand is that the GonG's are only for the use with water pipes. the silicone that Dave uses with his stems are made with high temp. food-grade silicone which can be found in commercial cooking products, similar to this product.

My recommendation for a short, simple bong that is affordable but still made with quality are the Travel Tubes made by SoulShine Familly Glass. They're a great company and have a good rep here on FC.

You can achieve hotter/cooler vaping temps depending on the draw. you can also change the distance of the screen to the heat port to additionally 'hone' in your desired temp. a VVPS isn't necessary but i definitely it to more easily vape at the temps that I like and to prolong the life of my UD. not sure if the bowl is variable on the glass stem, someone will have to chime in on that.

Is there a functional difference in the various designs, or is it purely aesthetic?

With the new UDs that Dave has been making, there is no functional difference with the various designs. except, i believe the nylon stems can only be used with the newest cores and not the classic ones. only thing i would be aware of is that some of the UD's are "Big" UD logs and maybe too big to make the clearance on certain tems of water pipes. however, this is not very common.

Also, customer service seems pretty amazing.

It is but there's only one way to find out
