well i kept going with it and haven't been noticing the taste as much. i'm definitely using the tygon 3350 silicone, as thats whats stamped all over it. devo i think you might be right about the taste factor, the last tube had some serious condensation as well, that could be a factor. either way now i really like this flexible stuff, it was such a pain passing the bong back and forth (the stock tubing wouldn't move the way you wanted it to).

thanks for the help Devo, i freaked out for a little bit (getting hi of course :ko:) when the taste was different, now I'm getting a much purer bud taste than before.

Just melted SSV's tubing on the element.

The situation is not as bad as my topic title proclaims it to be lol. I had put down my tube after taking a hit and a small part of it was getting blasted from the heat radiating out of the top of the ssv. The tubing didn't melt, but got soft enough to fold over. It sprung back to its form and shrunk a little after it cooled.
Other then that the tube looks fine and doesn't smell like melted plastic, but melted plastic and this whole... deadly poison thing sits in the back of my head. The bowl is only half way through. Would it be safe to continue with the same tube? i have no replacements.

Once it's cooled it should be OK. You should get some more tubing. You'll need it eventually, even without accidents. 7th Floor has very good pricing on their tubing for 10-20' lengths, or you can look for Tygon food grade tubing at USplastic.com (good price on the Silcon brand silicone tubing too). Size is 3/8" ID and 1/2" OD.

Hey Guys, so I've been searching around- Stuff available locally at hardware store is the WATTS clear vinyl PVC. I grabbed some feet of it in 7/16OD 5/16" ID

Googling around says it is FDA approved for food usage. Here's the website blurb:

Plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride has the flexibility of rubber and the clarity of glass. The smooth dense bore maximizes flow and reduces sediment buildup, and handles a wide variety of chemicals, gases and liquids. It is resistant to acids, alkalis and many solvents which makes this tubing an excellent drainage line.

* Clear vinyl uses first run materials containing only ingredients approved by the FDA for use in food and beverage applications
* Can be used with a wide variety of chemicals, gases and liquids
* Resistant to acids, alkalis and many solvents.
* Easy to use
* PVC, PVC tubing, tubing, plastic tubing, vinyl tubing, clear vinyl tubing
* MFG Brand Name : WATTS
* MFG Model # : SVHF20
* MFG Part # : 42143520
Is it safe to use with my Q?

Tubing taste.....

Hi guys!

Im new here and have got my Extreme Q for like 1,5 months. Thanks to all users of this forum, they made the vape-choice much easier, thanks!

The first time I used my Extreme Q was at a friends home. We smoked some Haze weed, has a very strong taste and smell. We used the whip and eventually got reaaaaaaally high. It looked like the perfect start...
But the next time I smoked (other kind of weed) through the whip, it still tasted a bit like the Haze. I thought it will take some time before it is gone, just go on hitting. But still now the weed tastes very strange through the whip. Whenever I make a bag everything goes fine (this is what ive been doing lately), but the taste of the tubing is awful; even when I just breath in through the tubing I has the same dirty taste.
Now my question is: Has anybody ever had the same problem(with any vaporizer) and how did you get rid of it? How can I remove the taste from the tubing?

Im looking forward for the answers, Ive searched the internet a lot but couldnt find anything close related.

Thanks!

I 2nd the silicone suggestion. I've since switched over and will never use anything else. I can REALLY tell a taste difference.

If I understood correctly the OP was stating that his tubing has accumulated taste fromm the herbs he initially used in his vaporizer. However, the tubing that Max recommeded above may help nonetheless, as it can be boiled to clean it of ay residues that may accumulate from use.

There is actually a thread somewhere on this site specifically dedicated to vaporizer tubing IIRC (you may benefit from reading that thread and posting this question there). The search feature can help you find that thread.

Also, if the residual taste is more of a toasted (almost 'burnt popcorn') taste, you may want to consider lowering your vaping temp a bit to prevent that.

You may also want to look into the VXC (Vape Exhale Cloud) from the 'planet of the (v)apes', as you seem to have discerning tastebuds and the VXC features an all-glass airpath (no tubing) There is a thread on FC about that vape (you can use the search feature to find that too).

I hope that this helps a bit.

Toke it easy

Do you think the standard Extreme-Q tubing can be boiled too? Or is it just the sillicone tubing?

Im going to get a sillicone tubing for sure. Just have to find a good shop to get it from(I live in Europe and selling from the US ).

To remove residues, you can run a tack or a nail through the tube. The head of the nail should scrape the condensed vapor off of the interior of the tube.

After you do this, you can use some solvent, like rubbing alcohol, to dissolve any further residues. You can add salt to the solvent as an abrasive. Do note that some have reported discoloration after running the tube through isopropyl alcohol (it makes some look more milky). You could always boil it, as was suggested before.

I recommend you doing the cleaning in this order as you can easily vaporize the condensed vapor later on. You could also evaporate the rubbing alcohol to retrieve some condensed vapor, but I tend to not bother with this because of the nasty chemicals in it (it is denatured so that you can't drink it).

tube problem with the whip style vaporizer

hello all , and thankyou for not removing my last topic mods :D anyways im having a very bad tubing problem , im not sure what the tubing i am using now is called but people know it as " needle tubes" the brown ones that the doctors tie on your arm to well ... give you a needle, and im having a problem with the tubing sticking together because of the resin ( vapor condensation i should say ) but i do not like the silicone tubing because when in-experienced people hit your vaporizer with the silicone tubing they always manage to pull the whip straight off of the element and loose all the stuff in the bowl ( because it is not flexible silicone tubing is stiffer than a rusted bolt ) ive even had someone using the silicone tubing pull the hose to hard to take a draw and since the tubing is not flexible CRACK there goes my whip , anyways it seems there is no in between ( and i have purchased EVERY kind of tubing that would fit on my whip they have at the hardware store ) Its either i have to deal with the stiffness of the tube and breaking wands or the residue making an air tight seal , to be honest i dont know witch one i would rather have they both are a pain in the arse :p BTW the needle tube works great FOR THE FIRST FEW TIMES after that it wont cooperate can someone please reccomend a kind of tubing that is flexible but doesnt stick together when it gets residue on it at the same time ( and by flexible i mean almost as flexible as that needle tubing ) but yeah , can someone reccomend a tubing to me ?

and just a note im almost on my 4th day of my tolerance break , the first 2 days i had this weird anxious feeling that i could not get rid of and i know its because im not smoking/vaping does anyone else get non stop butterflies/rollercoasters when they go without smoking/vaping ???

sorry for telling a life story but i aint got much else to do since i aint vapin :p and thankyou to everybody who participates in my topics

Silicone tubing can be very soft and flexible, much more so than vinyl tubing. For silicone try something like www.mcmaster.com part number 51135K31 (of course change size as needed). Tygon is another popular tubing choice.

vaporizer tubing (silicone) in the UK/EU (for da buddha/ssv)

yo, first post :)

anyone had any expirience buying replacement whip tubing in the UK/EU? anyone find/know any good websites? I don't really want to import from America, as it usually costs double what the actual tube costs. googling turns up very few results, usually buying in bulk from the manufacturer or 200+ medical grade.

i've found some PVC food-grade tubing on ebay, and it fits the da buddha wand fine but it is not very flexiable at all, and i am a bit sceptical about how safe it is to use, so i would like some silicone tubing that isn't super expensive.

this would be ideal:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#5236k931/=7k4e6k

Outside Dia.
1/2" (.5")
Inside Dia.
3/8" (.375")
Wall Thickness
1/16" (.0625")

really i just want something that fits the DBV, is safe (high temp tubing), and flexible (kinda ropey). what do you guys think?

Sorry to revive this thread, are there any Canadian vaporists that can recommend a site for silicon tubing for the Extreme Q?

I was about to order 10 feet from usplastics only to find out the shipping would be twice the cost of the tubing! Are there any other sites that offer shipping to Canada thats a little more reasonable?

Wanted to add something here, and someone had asked. I ordered 10ft of tubing from 7th floor, and cut a 6ft section off for a longer tube. I've had no adverse effects from the 6ft tube compared to stock length. No difference in quality of hit, or how hard I had to pull.

You guy's in Canada, have you thought about contacting Arizer directly? They're based out of Canada, and might be able to help you out.

Wipe/Tube Hash, can you just scrape it out?

Hello,

I'm going to make hash with my wipe and my plastic tube, I've read some topics about how to make it.

My questions:

1) can you just scrape it out and smoke it? I just tried a little puff to test, hash was having a bad taste (something like plastic)

2) which kind of alcool? Does Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol 70% USP would work?

3) how much time to evaporate at room temperature?

thanks for any tips!

I decided when ordering tubing for my extreme to just grab 9' of the standard extreme tubing available from vapeworld when I was placing an order. I intended to make 2 whips out of it and some pieces for the mini whip for the bag. Little did I realize that the mini whip tubing is BIGGER than the normal whip tubing, the bag nozzle doesn't fit into the tubing. What size do I need to order for the mini whip? Is the standard 1/4" ID, 3/8" OD, 1/16" wall size mentioned on the forums what I want?

That should be what Arizer uses-typical size tubing for most vapes (it was when I had one). If you need a larger size it would be 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD. You can get that size from someplace like USPlastic.com (food and beverage grade is OK) or silversurfervap.com, which has an excellent price on 10-20 ft.

I ordered the 7th Floor tubing for the PD stems here http://www.vapeworld.com/vaporizer-parts/7th-floor-vaporizer-parts/da-buddha-whip

I am under the impression it is the 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD. It is too big for the Extreme bag.

I also ordered this as I previously mentioned http://www.vapeworld.com/vaporizer-parts/extreme-vaporizer-parts/arizer-extreme-9-whip-tubing

And it is too small for the Extreme bag. My thought is that this is actually smaller than 1/4" ID, 3/8" OD, 1/16".

The mini whip seems to be a tubing that is between these two sizes, has anyone actually ordered tubing specifically for use with the bag and knows the complimentary size?

There is no size between 1/4" and 3/8". Tubing is often not a perfect fit. It'll stretch. Just put the end you want to connect in boiling water for about 5 sec. and it'll be pliable enough to fit.

what about a whip that has glass links in it like a chain...? basically there would be links of glass tubing that are so long (like a wand w/ no bowl), and then short pieces of tubing connecting them. you could use whatever rigidity of tubing you like. this would give you a flexible hose that would have more glass surface to catch the wand hash...

from what ive read reclaiming the resin from within the tubing of whips is less than desirable do to the taste...?

in short... more glass more resin

any thoughts?
