Vapes on Planes - Traveling With Vaporizers

The thing is that there are other flights, thats why I cant just ship it there and back.
Some other people seem to have had success taking it with them in luggage.

I will take it as an aromatherapy device ;) with the cup, some oil for it. the stems will be completely separate though.

Im having a hard time accepting that its been so easy for me to take all kinds of glass pieces and smoking utensils(100% clean of course), yet when I want to take a vaporizer its become a chore.

Thanks for replying though, I thought this thread would be left to die for the most part.

Definitely :)

Now I am thinking of maybe just shipping it there, since as you said airports around here are rather.. umm.. thorough.

I'd vote for shipping it, I have sent mine to a hotel or three :)

Don't mean to make you paranoid but flying SUCKS these days. One other consideration is, when you consider the shipping expenses and if you can live with a launch box because the shipping is fast and it's cheaper and you'll have something to show for your money, maybe order another launch box shipped to the location and you can always put it up for sale here. Or leave it with a friend where you're going. Safety first especially in these highly troubled paranoid times. Take it from a guy who used to enter the Uniondale mini cinema for a midnight movie showing of Andy Warhol's "Bad" or "Pink Flamingos" with a filled bong in one hand and $1 for a the movie in the other. And that's how I used to experience the day to day world. Only problem is that we live in a different world today.

No no, I completely understand, things have changed. I understand the worry as well. Rest assured whatever I do will be well thought out! Im not leaving just yet ;)

In 1988 I flew with a band to England and Germany; we had an album out. My crazy friend Alan, the singer, when we arrived from NY to Berlin, he was wearing his black leather jacket and dark wraparound shades - right before he exited the plane he clicked his heels, gave a nazi salute and exclaimed, "It is GOOD to be back in ze Fatherland!!" Then when we flew to London we were stopped by security because of our appearance; they opened up everything including Alan's Old Spice deodorant bar. After the guy examined it and put it back in the suitcase, Alan took off his shirt (and he's a hairy guy) and applied the deodorant to his underarms. The security guy said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!" He said, in a mock British accent, "I'm freshening up for the Porteus's (family we were staying with)."

This is shit you can't get away with anymore!

Any issues with carrying a brand new MFLB on international flights? I'm going from India to Canada and i'll just put it in my checked-in luggage.

TwztedVaper,
Any tips on carrying a used vaporizer back from Amsterdam to the US? At this point I've almost decided to just buy a wooden vaporgenie and leave it at the last coffeeshop I go to before I head back to the US.

Very bad idea, trying to get anything like that from Holland to America.
Leaving a nice gift for other stoners at a coffee shop before you leave wouldnt be a bad gesture :)

has anybody tried to take a vapor genie coil on a plane? its pretty inconspicuous as far as a vape goes. do you think that it would draw attention if i split it up and half in my carry on and half in my checked luggage?
thanks

I haven't done it, but I'd try it. Just make sure it's super clean, and put the mouthpiece end in your checked bag as it looks like it could be a smoking device and your carryon gets a closer look than your checked bag.
:2c:

Stu,
I'd break it down, clean it thoroughly, then break it up between multiple bags. I'd also blast the hell out of the ceramic filter with a jet lighter.

Unless its ticking, or they detect bomb residue. I think you will be fine. I went to the 9/11 memorial the other day and had my Wispr in a camera case. I sent it right through the x-ray machine full of gas and herb. My wife thought i was crazy for trying such a risky move. To me it was a good way to find out. I was watching the officer look at the x-ray as it passed by. He didn't even give it a second glance. I think on a plane your best bet is to put it in your luggage. If its empty of gas and herb what can they really say.

CarlosSpiceyWeiner,
Hi folks, my first post here. I vape with a doctors recommendation as a way to control my asthma(and stress of course) and it really works. I just thought of a solution to travel via plane with my MFLB that I will try on my next trip.

Clean vape and tube completely with 90% Iso, buy a pouch of Drum tobacco, load a bowl and keep pouch in same area as vape. If you are questioned you simply can't smoke tobacco anymore so you vape. Before returning repeat. All assuming you can get herb at your destination.

What do you all think? Better to put in bag for Xray? I'm even thinking of having in my shirt pocket and putting in the search bowls. Perhaps being obvious and not caring will set them at ease. I think the tobacco idea can really work ;)

Since the MFLB is wood, I am not sure it can be completely cleaned of residue that would test positive. I really think the ThermoVape would be a better solution, but that still begs the question of the medicine itself. Taking flowers through an airport, especially international, is not a good idea, tightey whitey method or not. I don't feel like ending up on "Locked Up Abroad" on NatGeo.

i agree with t-dub. it is also recommended not to expose a large amount of liquid to the wood of the MFLB as it can warp it.

Well I had to go to PDX to pick someone up today and had the opportunity to sit and watch TSA for about 20 minutes. That place is tight as a tick, cops everywhere. Then comes the guy walking down the security line with the German Sheppard sniffing everyone's bags, carefully, before moving on . . . Now they may be looking for explosives, not drugs, I'm not sure, but no way your getting by the dog if you have what he is sniffing for.

Hi guys, I am currently in a Paris airport heading to GR and coming from Dominica. While living Dominica by ferry (same as airport... customs, security etc), I was sitting on a chair at the port with my MFLB, vaping and saying goodbye to that beautiful island. Suddenly I see at the end of the corridor, two custom's officers and a K9 heading for the toillets. I immidiately emptied the ABV behind a chair opposite to me, put the box in my pocket and stayed calm. The dog came by and didn't even sniffed the ABV behind the seat. I also had a Space Case 1 gr container in my handbag and luckily no smell came out of it. After some time when I had started to relax, the same guys pass by again, this time with a different dog!!! The second dog sniffed nothing either... That was yesterday... Today I am toking in the airport's toillets and have already checked in my bag and the small container.
So what is it with dogs and ABV? They are not trained for it?
