Underdog Log Vapes

There have been times were I just had a bunch of bubble hash and no herb to use as bed; so my solution was using two screens on a silicon stem; the normal, bigger one, and then a smaller one on top. That way there was some room between both in case any hash melts through, and also, just the small screen on top will get clogged.

Been using the underdog for 1.5 years now and don't think I've ever actually tried this.
I am going to tonight though!

So I have to stop in to show Dave some love (no-homo;) ). I've been on and off having problems with my power supplies for a little while now. The man stands behind his work. So far he has supplied me with a spare VVPS and some back up cords just to get the pup back to flexing her heat around:goon:.

Excellent customer service and the dog has kept me foggy enough to be not only my daily, but only driver since order. No regrets, glad to have bought the UD when I did. Once the sad day rolls around and the pup goes off to the clouds, will be buying again.

You guys are the shit.:2c::rockon:

Ok so after using it all night last night I can safely say that I have my new "daily driver"! Dave this thing is amazing, I had no idea I could get so vaped from little specs of bud!! Thanks to everyone for their hash tips, both methods worked great, I'll probably use the "herb bed" method unless I'm out of flowers, since it lasts longer.

I think so far the nylon stems are my favorite, I like the way they sit inside the element, and the bowl size seems perfect. I really like the effect that a nylon stem filled half with bud and half with keef gives you, amazing taste, like 6 or 7 good clouds, super potent! I haven't had a chance to use my GonG stem through water yet, but I will get the adapter for my 18mm kettle bubbler and try it soon.

I can already tell that I will not be able to stop with only 1 dog, I got the Red Elm stump because I was born and raised on a farm in Indiana and there was an enormous Red Elm tree in our yard, I always used to climb and play on it.. So, as I said before, that one I had to have! The next one will be a twig made from some eye-catching wood, something that screams out for me to purchase it, i'll know it when I see it for sure!

Anyways this is an amazing product and I'm really glad to have purchased it, keep up the great work Dave, and thanks for the outstanding customer service!

Speaking of your location,
I just remembered I got lost in the mountains of Bozeman, Montana when I was a young teenager. Like 4 hours. Scary stuff but beautiful place!

Sexy log vapes definitely fit the Montana motif :D

Still loving my Dog!

I've been having some issues with my MFLB power adapter (my portable), so I decided to take my dog with me on a long car trip (2011 Prius). I use my wall wort almost exclusively at home and really like how hot it runs my dog (despite the wear I know I am putting on it and the fact that I accidentally combust now and then....usually when I stir a dark brown stem and decide to take another hit).

My Prius and/or car adapter (one that I bought from MFLB for the the MFLB power adapter) was not getting my dog hot enough for my liking.

Any ideas? Hopefully some easy and cheap ones?

Thanks!

Sorry if you already knew this but Dave sells car adapters on his website for $16.99, specifically for Underdog use. http://underdogvapes.com/accessories/electrical/car-adapter/

Running (with a 12v cigarette plug adapter) on a car electrical system is somewhat hard to predict because the voltage can vary from low 12v ranges to near 14v range. In UD terms this is a range from not-hot-enough-to-use to combustion-of-herb/damage-to-UD. I don't have any experience with the Prius so am not sure what to expect from it in this situation. I'm also not familiar with the MFLB adapter you're using and whether it just passes full voltage straight through (like normal car adapters) or if it has some kind of circuitry to step down the voltage first.

Slightly more clunky but usually more predictable is to buy and use a small DC powered inverter and then a wall-wart (or VVPS for that matter) as normal. This should run the UD just like it runs at your house. A little invert like this can be found pretty much any place that sells electronics and should be less than $20. It doesn't have to be very powerful either, 50 or 100 watts is way more than enough power (the UD uses less than 10W). :peace:

Perfect! I knew inverters existed, but wrongfully assumed they were much more expensive than that. I suspect that the Prius is in the low 12v range (and there is even a note on the plug that says "12v max when all plugs in use").

Thanks!

Any idea on when the next refresh comes? Been interested in getting a vape and after research I'm strongly looking in getting a UD!

Is it typical to need to run the vvps at a higher voltage for the GonG stem vs. the nylon stem for the same cloud production?

I have been running the vvps at 12v (with great results) for my nylon stems when direct drawing, but when using the GonG stem and my bubbler at 12v, I don't get the same amount of visible vapor.

Should I bump up the voltage a bit? What voltage do you guys typically use for the gong stems and does it change depending on the stem or type of vaping (direct draw/water)? Thanks in advance!

I know that the wall wart, Which is what I have, runs at 13.5v....so try that because I get the milkiest rips ever :)

Hey Dogs, it was too freaking hot here today to get all the UDs finished for the refresh so I'll be finishing them tonight and we'll put them up tomorrow afternoon/evening instead of today.

I know, I know I'm a slacker.. I was having a real hard time motivating myself to get out of the AC and go to the shop.. it was, I shit you not, 117° in there. :o

Well, now we know about the sweat. Any blood or tears going into these Dogs?!

Some wisdom from last weekend's Western States 100 Endurance Run (which happened near your part of the world): frequent river soaks; a hat filled with ice; and a neck bandana filled with ice. Copious amounts of water mix well with wood and electrical work, right?

@ Meghan - yeah I imagine Sonoma County has been suffering the heat just about the same as us since you're just across the valley really. Way. Too. Hot. :uhoh:

@ I_wanted_truth - haha seems like there's always sweat and frequently blood in the shop but nothing major since the near-amputation of my finger 4-5 months ago. Tears are mainly confined to the office work side of Underdog. You did the Western States 100 ER?! That's hardcore shit there. I've got some friends who do the Tevis Cup (Western States Trail Ride) which is a horseback event that I think inspired the run? Both require some crazy endurance!

I'm finishing up the remaining Dogs for the refresh, including a handful of custom ones. I think it's going to be a small'ish refresh, once everything is said and done probably about 20 pieces. We're trying to get in the habit of doing smaller, more frequent refreshes so we'll see how that goes. I do have some really high-end, very nice pieces planned after this refresh.. I need to start using some of this nice wood I have piled everywhere lol.

We're working on some more website changes in the near future as well which should make it even easier to use and also easier for us to manage. Will be adding some more products, accessories mainly, and some more information including some "how to's". I've got so much wood in the shop and in storage that I'm thinking about also putting some of that on the site for people who want to buy some to make their own projects, or to save for a future UD, or maybe to provide to another vendor to have a piece made by them... just something I've been thinking about but not sure about it yet.

I'm also considering making some adjustments to our production schedule/capacity so I don't have to work 70-80hr weeks quite so often anymore. This would probably be done by simply limiting the amount of Dogs I work on in a month.. like limiting production to, say, 40 Dogs a month (including custom pieces). Again no certainty on this, just thinking out loud a bit here.

Alright guess I should get back to work, we should be adding these Dogs to the site this evening so stay tuned.

Hey Shred I got your PM just haven't had time to answer it coherently quite yet.. focusing on trying to get the refresh posted first. I'll answer your message later tonight or in the morning though ok?

I'm just sitting here at work refreshing the home page at underdogvapes every 30 or so minutes, with a hint of OCD, needless to say, I'm very excited to see the new pieces!

I have decided to use the stump for direct draw on my computer/gaming desk, and buy a twig for using with my bubblers and the gong stems!

New accessories you say?! :whoa:

@ Shred - no bother at all dude, it's not like I've never misplaced an email or message so sometimes it's better safe than sorry to try again if you haven't heard back from me. :p Nice video, I like that swirly glass.

@ Yoshi - working on uploading them now so hopefully they'll be up shortly (knock on wood!).. these pieces will hopefully be followed by some more in another week or so as well. New accessories are nothing really too exciting, mostly adding stuff to the website that we provide in the kit but people keep asking if they can buy more of.. like some of the jars/containers/etc.

Alright, I best get back to it.. then dinner, then packing orders so they can leave tomorrow. :peace:
