Sweet. That's definitely better. This is a homemade setup?
Some-what; it's a collaboration by myself and my local smoke-shop owner. I told him exactly what I wanted/where and he sourced the parts, then we put our heads together to put IT together!

To anyone else hitting Pax through a custom rig, we'd love to see your ideas brought to life!

Oh my goodness! That is a beautiful rig, any chance of a parts list?

We're here to fuck shit up.
Sheeeeit, my custom rig is my custom bubbler, but I rarely use my Pax through it. My Pax is pretty much only for on the go use. I love handing it to someone on medium with a fresh oven and watch their face when the flavor hits them and they exhale a huge cloud.

So, I was here about 150 pages ago... just want to report back that my PAX is as awesome as when I bought it! I'm on about a year of moderate use, I don't think I got one of the early ones so maybe that's why I have such great luck, but I am very glad to see Ploom seems so great to stand by thier product. Fantastic to hear, I have to honest, I was skeptical of that 10 year warranty but it looks like everyone is having good experiences. To anyone looking to buy a used PAX, first ask the weirdo selling it why they would do such a stupid thing, then slap yourself for considering giving up the piece of mind by having Ploom behind your investment completely. Seems if there ever was a company worth giving your money too, this is one.

My question though, why does Ploom seem stagnant? I've been happily vaping my PAX and out of curiosity I figured I'd take a look at the PAX website. I would have thought they woud have a new model, maybe more accessories, a stainless steel or titanium limited edition... something? I thought this thing has been very sucessful for them, so why nothing new? Just would like to see the company pushing forward! But no matter, I'll keep enjoying my PAX.

I think long ago I posted being a little put off about how un-economical the PAX seemed to be, I was unfair in saying that. I usaully have a great supply chain, but about 4 months after I got my PAX I was unable to hook up with any good quality and I don't bother with anything else, I'd rather roll up old roaches or scrape a bowl. I did however have about 2-3 ounces of ABV that I had put through the PAX, so I decided to see how bad it was to re-vape it. Holy shit, it got me medicated. I was definitely not vaping to the fullest I could have. So now I need to give this device it's fair due and say it's pretty economical. I usually pack...

OHHHH HELLLLLS NOOOOO I've been watchin the Bruins game and the 'Hawks just won the cup. Dammit, I gotta go.

PAX water damage:

So, like an idiot, I dropped my PAX in the toilet (thankfully it was just water) while emptying the oven. Do I have any chances at all of this thing still working? I have it in a bowl of rice now. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I can't say enough about my experience with Ploom. I used the chat function on their support page and told them what happened. They emailed a prepaid shipping label to send it in. Honestly, I was expecting a response along the lines of, "Sorry, water damage voids the warranty. Thank you for choosing Ploom".

Instead, I got this:

Hello,
We have received your device and are happy to say that we will be shipping a new Pax out to you tomorrow! You should receive a tracking number once your new device is on its way. Don't hesitate to reach out to the team here at Ploom should you have further questions or concerns. We are happy to help!

I had heard of their amazing customer service before I bought the Pax, but they certainly went above and beyond. Thanks Ploom!

Wow, I knew Magic Flight covered user error, but I didn't know Ploom did. They were great the few times I have had to use their customer service, but that is beyond the call of duty in my book.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
How do you use the Pax with glass ? I can't seem to find any adapters for sale. Is there anyone who sells an adapter or are people just making their own?

For the most part everyone makes their own, mine is a simple 18 to 18 glass adapter and then a piece of tubing attached to the mouthpiece. This is my glass and pax setup

Yep, my first return I removed the locking ring after cleaning the mouthpiece, upon reassembly it permanently locked shut, I felt like an idiot.

yewwwwwwww Long time reader first time poster. Thought it was about time I jumped in and joined the fc pax gang. This site and this thread have been an absolute eye opener, such a great resource of info regarding vapes and glass.

Little bit of history. I thought vapes were the biggest waste of time until I met all of you. I Didn't know they could pump fat thick clouds of fresh vapor - that rate in comparison to smoke! and I just figured they were weak as pizz. Nothing I thought would actually do the job.
This was all because of my past experiences. First experience would have been about 10 years ago with my mate's "flea market" vape. It was a conduction, on a plate in a glass jar with whips. No temp control. So useless. had a few other experiences with old crappy market vapes and completely wrote them off. Never again would I even bother repeating the word vaporizer in a positive way.
BOOM Fast forward to 2013 and my ignorance was blown away! I saw the puffit and for whatever reason I watched a video. Daaamn some guy just pumps out this visible cloud of vapor and im like wtf was that. watched some other vids of other modern vapes and I was blown away literally by clouds and stuff. Ignorance over, curiosity completely set in.
within the day I had a Pax on order and on its way down under. so sick.

So yeah complete convert in opinion of vapes! My ignorance had kept me in the dark for way too long thank you pax for making vapes cool!

I've had my paxy for about 4 months now. Runs like a dream, pumps clouds nicely and milks glass as well! And the main part medicine! and flavour and clean the list just goes on.
I haven't had any problems with mine apart from when i pulled the mouthpiece apart to attach to gong, I too got my metal tube stuck in the pax and freaked out. Solved.
And the main issue I've had was it not detecting the mouthpiece when its a gotten a bit dirty so it would not start to heat up. (frustrating) But again it was my fault as every time it is cleaned it works perfectly.

Before I received mine I was worried after reading so many problems online, so I just wanted to post a positive experience of usage. The battery could def last for longer but hey charging is easy and battery mods easy.

Im not telling anybody anything new here so I will end my dribble. All in all yet another pax lover. Im now also getting a extreme q and a vxl cloud  And argghhh i need all this fresh glass to go along with it. It never ends, man the missus is going to have to keep a close eye on me!

Damn im never gonna get through every page of this thread! Its always grows on me hahaha love it, More mods more gong attachments yeahhh!!!

This is worth mentioning. Unfortunately you're right, a lot of people come here looking for help on issues they are having. So the thread can give the impression that Pax is a problem child.

I find it to be quite the opposite :)

Ill take this as a cue to show my 2nd gong adapter :)

Arizer Extreme glass elbow sg18 and hi temp food grade silicone tubing connected to the metal tube from the mouthpiece. (the tube just pulls out, sometimes they pull out easy sometimes hard. Watch the washer!)

I like this because i have a dewar seal on my bubbler so its just like using a lighter like old times :) Ergonomically feels right.

Hey guys. I just got a cobalt pax in the mail today. I love the design and the sleek packaging. I know that the device works by colors, and it has a party mode. Can anyone tell me what party mode does specifically? I've seen the lights flash colors, but does it do anything to the plant material (Such as heating, etc.)? Also, I've seen people talk about multiple party modes. I'd just like to hear an explanation about this mode, or any helpful tips. Thanks.

The party mode I have experienced is the flashing lights activated by doing a spliff roll towards yourself, the device doesn't go into sleep/off mode it stays on so you can pass it around. There is some vids on utube showing it also.

This was posted back on June 2. It mentions multiple party modes that activate depending on how many rolls you do. I believe they all function the same and just disable the standby mode so the unit keeps heating, but each one has a different light display. I could be wrong on that, I only activated them once to see the lights.

Is this thing just trashing me or does it really keep doing different stuff when I roll it in my hand. So far looks like 3 rolls per mode, 1 fast party, 2 slow party, 3 I think it makes the light motion sensitive, maybe 3 or 4 more modes. Am I nutts or just didn't read enough yet?

If you buy the pax off someone does the warranty transfer

Hi.....new member here: I just had the best experience with Ploom. Bought my Pax from Craigslist a couple of months ago - it came like-new in original box WITH original purchase receipt. About 2 weeks ago, it stopped charging. I tried the charger in various outlets, but to no avail.

I emailed Ploom and the representative said that the issue is warranty related. He emailed me a PREPAID return shipping label! As I am traveling, I told him I did not have the original box or receipt in my possession. He requested I send it back anyway (as they honor their warranty). One week later, I got an email letting me know they had pinpointed the problem (the contact point had come loose); fixed it and put it back in the mail on Tuesday.
Today, the package arrived. :p When I opened the box, not only was my Pax there with it's charger, but also, a Pax Cleaning Kit!!!
I'm old-school and feel that good customer service has gone the way of the Edsel. But, Ploom has proven that it's making a comeback. Fast, accurate, FREE, attention to details........folks, you do get what you pay for! I would save and scrape together the $250 for a Pax before succumbing to buying a cheap semi-combustion pen with a 90 day warranty!

{As for whether they honor units purchased from a private party, it didn't occur to me to mention it to them (esp because I have the orig receipt). So, I guess I'm saying if they don't know.....well.........

pax ma'am,
Hey guys! Enjoying my Pax for about two months now, great stealth and I love the fact that I don't have to worry much about the smell!

Recently though I'm finding it quite hard to draw and produce a good amount of vapor. I'm actually able to last 3 sessions on just one load by setting it to red temperature by the time I get to a 3rd session and I still get a good amount of vapor on that. But now, I can barely get anything on my second session. Even my initial draws during my first sesh of the day doesn't seem to produce the same vapor it ones does. I do the same amount of hits so it's not that, I just cleaned it up (by the way is it fine using the pipe cleaner with those sharp bristles?), my stuff are the same stuff that I medicate with, and I'm sure it's still heating up. I tried blowing through the vapor path and it isn't clogged. I pack the bowl the same way that I always do.

Any ideas?

Quoted from 2 Paces :

When you take the screen out, you will notice the air tube hole on one side of the oven. The screen is actually bigger (a little longer) than the oven. So it will not fit flat against the floor of the oven, one end will be sticking up a bit when it is in place. So when you place the screen, place the end that is NOT over the hole first and makes sure it rests against the floor of the oven. Then press it down gently so that the other end seats itself just above the air tube hole, but is as far down as it will go.

This will leave a little bit of air space between the screen and the air tube hole. If the screen is placed the opposite way, the screen can constrict the airflow to the tube if it is flush against the hole.

Well, guess I let er get too dirty, can't get it to heat now. I've had it apart to clean everything but I think the problem is on the outside of the heater tube that is not easy to get at , any tricks to clean that area besides a qtip again and again.

Do you mean that it won't switch to purple (heating mode) or that it switches to purple but doesn't heat up?

Stays suck on the temp color, like the mouthpiece is always removed, before some wiggling/jiggling would help it make connection but not so lucky the last couple trys. I know it's my fault for letting it get dirty so I'll not bitch about it and just try and clean it.

Hi FC Forums ... New member here and this is my first post ever right here on the Pax thread. I'm the proud owner of an amethyst Pax, had it for several weeks now and I absolutely love this thing! Just yesterday a friend and I were stepping outside to hit it and friend says "do you have the lighter?", to which I quite smugly replied "we don't need one". Yeah, I know vapor dissipates quickly and it would probably be just fine to stay inside but Boyfriend doesn't see it that way and insists that I partake outside. Anyway, I digress.

I'm the type who researches things before I buy, particularly something that costs this much, so I had read this entire thread and a few others on the subject and visited several local shops to see this thing up close and personal before purchasing. I had actually decided to go with another brand of portable vaporizer (more reasonably priced) but the salesperson happened to mention that the one I had selected (can't even remember what it was now) wasn't a 'true' vaporizer and *would* combust. Another 2 minutes of indecision and I'm saying "give me the Pax"! I don't regret it!

This is my very first purchase and use of any kind of vaporizer, portable or otherwise. I'm an old school user, been using a one-hitter for years and realized I needed to switch to something else when I started coughing up phlegm with what looked like bits of herb in it. Not really a big surprise considering there's really nothing to stop the fire, ash or herb from being inhaled. My first attempt at 'healthier' smoking was to switch to a pipe with a screen. Ugh, too inconvenient as I like to have it with me when I'm out and about and a pipe is just too conspicuous and too much trouble to use in general. So, back to the one-hitter. Not long ago we attended a cookout with some friends and he's telling me how he switched to vaping and about how much longer his meds last. That's what started my research. Friend even told me that he had a vaporizer that he did not like and that he'd give it to me if I wanted it! Unfortunately he never got around to showing it to me so I don't even know what kind it is. Hopefully I can check it out on my next visit.

Anyway, fast-forward to now. Today I stopped in the local shop to pick up some extra screens for my new toy (no, I don't *need* them but I have a fear of losing the one I have) or tried too... they were closed but with a sign on the door that said they'd open later but for cash only sales. Ok, I think... Fine, I'll go run some other errands and swing by on the way home. I finish my shopping and head home and yep, they're open now so I stop for the screens only to enter the store to find the store employees packing up stuff... grinders for sure and who knows what else but there were bags and boxes being loaded into an SUV that was backed up to the front door. Turns out they had been paid a visit by some DEA folk a few days earlier and told that they could no longer sell certain items!

So sorry for this long first post but let me get back to the Pax ... Before errand running today, I removed it from the charger and pushed the mouthpiece down to release it ... Nothing. I then spent about 30 mins trying to pry, pull, wiggle, tap, etc to get it out...nothing. At this point I'm in a panic and have already checked to see if any Ploom reps are online...nope. I had to leave but planned on asking the local shop if they had suggestions but after repeated attempts to click the mouthpiece out, it finally just started working again between one of my shopping stops. Weird! I still love it but that was scary!

There's definitely a learning curve, I've already dropped it on concrete and watched the mouthpeice and oven cover fly in different directions and I've also experienced the temp light issue but it's easily resolved. The way I look at it is that's the Pax saying 'clean me!'. Cleaning's a breeze too and only takes a few minutes. Still haven't tried the lubricant.

Thanks for reading if you got this far! This is a nice place, I thing I'll hang for a bit!
