did we already discover if the grill can be removed? (sorry if we did, trying to follow this thread closely but I'm following some other threads too and I mix them up sometimes)
I was just wondering if the grill itself needs to be cleaned every once in a while?
Think debris that fell trough the air holes or accidently spilled oil (like what stickstones experienced)
that seeps trough the air holes?

Quick question guys. I'm new to the forum, new to vaping in general actually, and wanted to know how long you guys estimate it would take to get a DaVinci Ascent in my hands if I'm just discovering this new product, haven't pre-ordered, etc. It looks like most of you have pre-ordered through various outlets, or direct from DV. I'm trying to make a decision on which vape to purchase, I've done a good amount of reading/research on these forums and others and am interested in the Pax, Ascent and Solo, but time is a (big) factor in my decision. Is a good estimate 2 to 3 months from now, being able to get an Ascent vape on my doorstep, or potentially longer? Thanks for the help, it'll go a long way in helping me make a decision on first vape purchase.

We are happy to update you with the latest launch info of the Ascent Vaporizer by Da Vinci. After extensive testing and feedback from industry experts, we have identified an improvement we wish to bring forth on this initial release. The Ascent vaporizer will now feature a "vapor seal lock" that tightens the air seal around the bowl and allow the chamber to aspirate with greater vapor density.

We want you to know our commitment to building the ultimate vaporizer is at the forefront of our mission. We are confident that these improvements will continue to raise the bar in vaporizer technology.
FYI - The same message also went out to the pre-reg list via email just now..
Saw this before the email arrived ;)

If sooner is better for you, I'd recommend the Solo - it's great and available now. If you can weather a week to a few more weeks (my guess) waiting for the Ascent, that's ok too. Or, Solo now, Ascent a little later. You'll have two Best in Class:).

I hate waiting longer, but I'm happy DV is waiting to release the best possible product. In fact they should be commended for not rushing a product that they don't feel is 100%, just to start lining their pockets.

Gee you guys are quick..I was just about to post here too, but you beat me to it. I'm going to spend the evening combing through the 9 pages that I am behind on, but feel free to ask questions on the upgrade.

Honestly, we just feel this small improvement will do a lot for the unit and I don't want anyone to feel they got the raw end of the deal because they were an early adopter and got the first production run where tweaks weren't made. I know this won't make every one happy...but I can sleep at night.

Please stay tuned to our, DaVinci's, dates for the updated release...no one knows it before I do after all. Everything else out there is mere speculation.

Yup. Went out to email.

Basically, they have taken information from what our people and other reviewers have said, and saw an opportunity to improve the product a bit more before release.

I don't think any of us can fault them for trying to make the product as close to perfect as they can. :)

Hope this doesn't mean DV is listening to that Will guy. Did any of the testers here get asked or request the vapor seal from DV?

No, but I and a few others here did question the wispy vapor hits at lower temps with moderate to light loads.

Can this mean that in order to bring about the improvement, a further delay to market is at hand? Or, has the improvement been already built in and release is imminent? I hope the latter!

Well that sucks hey, a other delay.
How long will this take, weeks months?
This is kind of a turn off considering this will be the 3rd time its been delayed and after the last delay every company has been advertising a release date June 21st.
So i guess I can forget about getting my unit til mid July maybe even the end of July.
I only thing I see that needed improvement was the oil can( how it works with oil and the unit ) which made wispy vapor.
This needed improvement oil needs high temps to vaporize the glass can sucks up the heat needed thus wispy vapor.
Man this really sucks, I hate this waiting game especially when all companies are saying for sale around the 21st of June.
Cheers, medical mark

I really appreciate the receptive quality and business stance of the Davinci company. The improvement mentioned above answers the very question I've had about the Ascent: Can it produce good quality dense vapor? If it can do that, it's gold! Sounds well worth waiting a bit more.

correct me if im wrong but i think it was dreammr who suggested a rubber bracelet type band that wraps around the seal. is dv gonna go with that or they thought of another way. hopefully it is an internal part of the vape. i dont really want to deal with a rubber band but depending on how much it would help idk

I had the rubber band idea but it sounds like they are making it an internal seal, like an O ring type seal either on the stem of the screened glass piece.. or on the outsides of the bowl... never know thy might do all three... that would guarantee a sealed air path... if they use my idea then your welcome DV... man I can wait to get one of these things

So if they were " almost ready" to ship and everything was coming out of china from the distributor, that means every box goes back to be re-opened and redone?

Isn't that like putting the baby back on after its born?

If the release was so close, seems like they would have to go in full reverse to change anything at this stage.

Unless they weren't really finished, boxed, shipped and " ready to go".

Does that make any sense?

Just getting very sick of the delay. And I really thought it was going to be close this time.

I dont believe that was dreamerr, I remember it being a guy who almost got flamed for the suggestion!!!

All in due time, didnt you go thru this same thing with the cera!!!!??????
Any product is at risk of delays and unforeseen circumstances, but rushing a product out so that YOU or Thousands of other medical patients can have it in your hands does not justify putting out a sub par product!!!!!

My apologies but this release date thing has been :horse::horse::horse: to death!!!!

I back davinci %100 percent, if the have tweaks that can improve there product to satisfy even the most demanding medical patients, so be it!!!!
I for one need a heavy hitting portable for my PERSONAL needs, looks like davinci has struck gold & now with the vapor lock it might take ascent to a whole new level!!!!

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
OG is correct. I suggested the piece that is already in the package that covers the mouth piece. DV is talking about solving an issue we suspected which is some type of air leak which is making for wispy vapor. The person that suggested the rubber band was saying put it around the whole thing to hold the bowl piece to the main body and that IIRC was what everyone was fussing about. In that persons defense, he was trying to solve an issue it was just not aesthetically appeasing. We still have no idea where the air is leaking in from but DV must know as they are now going to fix it before we even get it to complain about it:clap:.

DV thanks for listening to us and trying to solve all issues before it comes out. As much as I want to have a new vape I don't want a shit vape. I will wait six more months if it is my perfect vape. Heck even a year I can wait if it fits my needs perfectly.

Can you please do me one favor and add to the instructions how to put on the cap for the stem as now we have people putting it on two different ways. One way it will get lost duh... DV:rockon:

Thanks dreamerr, you hit the head on the nail!!!!!(edit lol)
Great detail and memory!!!!!

Some one here showed the cap you came up with in the correct fashion ( I believe)!!!
First the circular "O" end slips over the glass mouth piece then the cap seals the deal, by doing this ,its a safety so you dont ever loose the cap its always attached even when its uncapped!!!!
I hope i made sense here !!!!

In one of the videos above, one guy thinks the internal spare glass screen is a mouthpiece attachment or extension, its not, its the internal glass screen that the mouth piece slips into inside!!!!

I know the rubber band wasn't a appealing look it was to test it and see if that is where the leak is.. if yes then they could go into research and development on how to fix it.. I.e. the seal they mention around the bowl.. obviously a rubber band wouldn't be a finished solution... I mean come on people..

I said to try a rubber band so the testers that were concerned could try something immediately to find a solution

Just for the record, quite a few people didn't figure that out right away. [In my defense, I didn't have anything more than a photo to play with. :p ]

But even THR didn't get it at first. So, I'm not going to fault any reviewer either. ;)

[Plus, TorontoV gets bonus point for using archivists gloves to handle the device. Kinda meaningless after dropping it onto pavement several times... but still cool. :)]

Haha we were giving VapeLife shit for complaining about the air seal. Turns out it actually could be an improvement.

So now 99.9% glass air path now? lol.. hopefully not. I hope no hot air touches it.

someone wanted dv to include a rubber band that had ascent engraved on it as a permanent solution. idk if that was you...and its not a bad idea and i can see how it might help. it doesnt appeal to me very much. they could also use a band to test it. i think a more obvious test would be to cover the screen holes with your fingers and inhale. if your getting some air still, theres a leak. also you could cover the grill area with your hand and inhale when its closed. you could easily see how much air leaks through the seam and through the sides of the screen. how bout a little lever that squeeses the two parts together to seal them. like on the little hinge part, if it was threaded and a tiny lever came off that and you turned it to twist the screw and seal.... idk if anyone undestands what i mean but haha thatd be kinda cool.
