I think if anything there would be scent from the 15 minute session you just had that might linger. Don't leave goodies in it and shouldn't be a problem.

To all newb who want a vaporizer for smells concerns , IT WILL SMELL .
It's not a magic ordorless thing ,
please stop asking .it will smell.

it smells while vaping,
it smell while cooling down ,
it smell when not using .
it smell when charging / laying around.

its just a matter of how hard will it smell .

a used vaporizer will smell ., but not as much as a roach would.

if you want a vaporizer to be sneaky with your parents , it will not work. they will notice one day.

there should be a sticky about this .

it doesn't smell when charging...no vape does due to its charging. if it smells just sitting there then it needs to be cleaned.
that's my point. it doesn't smell more when charging. but a used vaporizer will smell anytime if it's not clean.

Because vaporizing smell less then smoking doesn't mean that i doesn't smell at all.
i just want it to be clear for everyone that ANY vaporizer will produce odours.
less than smoke ? sure !

when i bake a pizza i expect to smell pizza.

Doesn't matter what it smells like, a puff of this and the room smells like fresh laundry

Has anyone tried the programmable temp increase over time yet?

And is there a way to cycle the set temp points manually? In other words, I'd like to be able to set 3 or 4 favorite temps so I can just hit the up button a couple of times to get to where I want to be, instead of holding down the button and watching the display as the temp increases in single degree increments...

The vape odor does not linger like the scent of combustion, just open a couple windows and you'll notice the scent disappear in a matter of 10-15 minutes.

Also, some people may having room mates who aren't supportive, or a nosey landlord, and they may be concerned about scent.

It's true.. no one posted anything a long time after that.

Arrrrrrgh I was hoping for a release today. Who's betting it'll be out this week, and who's betting it'll be out next?

i bet the 21st (4 days)...its already been "hinted". but honestly, all this waiting has me willing to wait a lot longer - in march, i was super excited, now im "whatever" about it. ill wait & see if this is really the "perfect" vape. if not, theres always something else around the corner...

Woah that feature is cool. Even though you can turn it off and turn it back on to keep using it, I can't see myself doing that. I'd be scared of getting the batteries too hot.

that would be nice if it beeped like the solo cuz if the lights are on but the heater is off, id prolly just assume it was on (without reading/analyzing the digital screen to see what it was trying to tell me) & waste time sucking on a cold vape! cuz although i like the stealth mute on the solo, i often use it with the noise on so i can know when to put the vape back on after the auto safety shut off...

i can totally see myself zoning out watching basketball just like stickstones while this thing shuts off & cools down...

I'd like to remind everyone that we still have this thread- http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ascent-vaporizer-the-gibberish-non-device-tech-thread.9803/ and that we have a couple of rules that can be enforced here.

Stay on topic. Please avoid derailing or side-tracking discussions.

Don’t make short posts that offer no significant content.

People will be reading this thread for info. They don't want to wade through a bunch of chatty posts. We had enough of that in the original thread.

Seeking My Shangri-La
I not saying there aren't users who use .05g or less per session. All I'm saying is that the Ascent doesn't seem like it is designed for those users. Log Vapes and other one-hitter vapes are more conducive to efficiency with ultra small loads IMO....
Thank you for the honesty. I am one of those who likes smaller loads.

Guess I'll wait for now...:tinfoil:

So is the ascent going to be the pax killer everyone is talking about.
There are many Pax killers...the Solo being a great example...

i will believe it when i read ANYONE get theirs from GV before the people that pre-registered with DV. if that DOES happen..... my disgust with GV will be shifted to somewhere else and i do not want that to happen.

Hey Stickstones, is it an autoshutoff for when it overheats or just a timed auto shutoff like the original davinci? if it's the first, you could probably stretch the session even more when vaping on rather lower temps because the ascent won't get that warm that fast...or am I wrong here?
I like the auto shut off feature in the original davinci alot

Update for release: CONFIRMED this week

I just received an email from gotvape.com, quote:

"...the item you ordered is a pre order item only and it will not be release until the end of this week. At that time the pre orders will start shipping out in the order that they were placed. You order will likely not ship to you until sometime next month."

I ordered mine last night. So there you have it folks, end of the week.

and what makes GotVape the authority on when it will be released?? i am still waiting on an announcement from DV here. i and i am sure plenty of others that pre-registered on DV's website will be plenty PO'ed if GV orders go out before people who pre-registered with DV. i cannot speak for everyone but i can assure you i will be one of them.

DV.... don't do that to us loyal followers..... don't make GV the first route to get one.... if thats the route then all my months of watching this and the other thread will be a giant waste. cause i will never, ever give GV my :2c: figuratively and seriously!!!

Hey Stickstones, is it an autoshutoff for when it overheats or just a timed auto shutoff like the original davinci?

Programable motion timer.

As was stated previously, the device can detect motion, or the lack thereof, and shut itself off after a while.

So, you have a session that is quite good, set the device down while forgetting you even left it on, and it shuts itself down. IF it is still be handled (motion) it figures you are still going to use it and doesn't initiate.

While I like the motion sensor, I also like a fixed shut off timer where I have f.i. 9 minutes of total vaping time before it auto shuts off, every now and then I noticed that I leave my vaporizers untouched for a minute or so while the're on and it consumes (for me in my case) more of my batteries because I have to re heat to finish my session.
Either way, I'm in the line to get one !

it has the motion shutoff thing and what appears to be an overheating shutoff. They act completely differently. The former just shuts down. The latter turns the bowl off but leaves the display on while it cools.

lookhigh...more than I need to get there.

mmenzie...careful...you've been real good!

DA Vinci just posted a vapor demonstration with the gong adapter on their Facebook. Looks awesome!!!

This is the video that TheHerbalReview (link goes to post) posted here back on the 9th.

Also, it is mentioned in JoeKickAss' excellent collection of FC reviewer's comments/pictures/videos, found on page one of this thread:
