Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Hey HerbalReview. Is this a pax killer?

Get back in here I want to know!

I wouldn't say Pax killer. The Pax IMO does a better job at lower temp settings, where the Ascent shines when it's on higher temps. The Pax tastes like ass on the red setting, and I can go all the way up to 420F and still tolerate the vapor with the Ascent.

The Pax is smaller and more discrete, but WAYYYYYYYY harder to clean/maintain. I'd rather have the Ascent, but I can see the justification of people that decide to go the Pax route.

any way to see a pic of the damage just out of curiosity? do you remember if the glass straw was pulled out when it was dropped or fully retracted?

well i guess thats why you got the extra stem pieces...for times like these...

thx & sorry to hear about that...

I might get a photo up... busy day today so not sure when I will have that done. It was retracted at the time. If it was out of the body it would a have likely broke/shattered. The distance it fell and the hardness of the floor I was honestly surprised that it only cracked. I believe the impact caused the outside stem to smack against the inside stem when it hit the ground.

The industry is big enough and with enough usage habits and needs that nothing will really destroy the compassion. This is my favorite portable. I think it tastes better then the PAX. The PAX has a smaller form factor and the oven holds more. Those are the two advantages of the PAX over the Ascent. The Ascent tastes better, produces better dry vapor, hooks up to water better, and just general is more enjoy able to use. If you are a heavy user though and like half a gram+ per session then the PAX is probably the only portable that can hold enough material for your needs. So there is always a balancing act between needs/expectations/reality. Unless Sticks, THR, and myself are crazy... I think the Ascent will be a very popular portable and be received well by the community.

I'm curious... Ascent vs. Solo: cloud production; battery time; use with bubbler (e.g. Ion Perc); etc. I know this has been touched on earlier, I think by Stick, but updates are sought if yet available:clap:! Thnx!

Vapor concierge
good vid, vst...I would have to agree on all points except the buddy rim. When I hit the buddy rim I think I get a little air coming in around the edges of my mouth and maybe reducing vapor density (I have no proof and didn't notice anything to support this on exhale). With the stem I feel like I eliminate that. I was trying to figure out why you feel the opposite.

Sticks, it makes sense although, Nigel:p , I don't have any proof. He might be making a really good seal right on the unit and it might be giving him a slight advantage over the stem. That is my speculation and I am sticking to it:nope:.

SLiM - if you have a sec - Did you have the rubber cap on it when it fell? And if not, in your humble opinion, do you think it would have helped protect the glass from cracking?

No I did not have the rubber cap on. It cracked on the other end of the stem, so I don't think it would help.

Had it bee in the pouch or a protective bag it would not have been damaged at all.

Thanks for the nice comments guys and thank you Nigel for the Olive branch comment about me spending some time with the device before making the video. I really wanted to have more tangible useful tips and tricks for using the Ascent before making the video. But this thing is so simple there is not much to it. In my follow up / Final Thought / $50 Davinci Gift Cert Giveaway video (will all be one video) I will get into a bit more of a "optimum usage" type demo. I will also talk about my experiences of using the Ascent with Butter and kiff.

I think that is the key to using the Buddy Rim. It's all about where your lips are and how good of a seal you have.

I liked the video of vapor s Thompson but as a medical user and patient I really wish he would of used herb, what ever he was using wasn't very visible in vapor and isn't this a vapor site for herb users that vaporize??.
I really don't understand why a company would send a vaporizer that is intended for cannabis to a non user to review, it makes o sense to me.
We all kow that vaporizers are made to serve one purpose and that is to better medicate in a more healthy way eliminating combustion.
Cannabis is what vaporizers are built for, without the herb we wouldn't be at this cross road with V.A.S lol

I'm a medical patient here in Canada I would truly benefit from you using the mentioned meds.
Don't get me wrong i appreciate your time and effort, I just look at vaporizers as a nessessaity rather then a toy.
It serves a purpose for me and it was built with that in mind.
Its all good eh! , fellow Canuck...

Hmmmmm... I mean... Hmmmmm... Being a Pax owner for almost a year, my eyebrow is raised at your comments. Still, I'm keen for another portable and am set on the Ascent, especially since it appears the Ascent is easier to maintain.

And yes, I agree the Pax tastes like total stank ass on the red setting. I'm a low-setting guy, medium if I'm feeling cheeky.

Nice review man, I enjoyed it.

Hey THR, wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing your opinion of the Ascent vs. Pinnacle. (since the Pax vs. Ascent was brought up)

I know you were digging your Pinnacle for a while so I am interested in what your thoughts are. Thanks.
