My PVHES 18mm GoNG, fell on the floor about 60-70cm and did not break...it "danced" on the floor and one of the legs surrounding the center of the stem broke, but the stem is fine :)
What a relief! :)

Also cleaned my black leaf bubbler so easily...ISO+water+lemon juice+kosher salt

well I'm not sure if I need to switch the meter to a different setting for AC or not I got it to test Batts on DC... tell me if I did it wrong

but I got 8.71 to 8.90 as it slightly fluctuated.

Likewise the 7.5 Volt unit from Jameco I posted a while back does a fine job 'barefoot' (provided you fix the connectors). That doesn't fit the car PA 'need' though like the regulator does.
OF
So in the end we could settle for not knowing why? Just knowing 'maybe' is enough?

The Jameco PA is cheap and it works!

Now I can focus on things that bring value.

ataxian, I wouldn't trust cheap power invertors, my employer provided a bunch of these (different brand) and a co-worker had one get so hot that the plastic melted and he pulled it out of the socket but left the contacts and fuse in the socket because the invertor itself has melted into 2 pieces. luckily for him it was in a rental car for work and our employer paid for damages. I'm not saying it will happen with the model you posted but after seeing that, I wouldn't skimp on something that could potentially set my own car on fire.

edit: I just checked (still have that one kicking around but I don't use it) and it is a Kensington so not some no name Chinese knock off that I would expect to fail

I have had the same experience with cheap tools.

"OF" [It'll be quite inefficient of course if that matters (like when camping).]

What do you or "OF" recommend?

Yup, watch out for heat, it points right to where the losses happen. Some are OK of course if handled right.

As far as a charger for auto use, the car cord is the obvious choice, zero loss but needs an adapter to match the socket on Solo (unless you buy the factory cord of course), both the cored and adapter are five bucks or so from Jameco.

For PA use, I think the regulator scheme I'm playing with is the call. Hands down. Small, cheap, efficient and almost bomb proof (it includes short circuit, overtemperature, reverse polarity and all the nice protection features). Right now, I've got the only ones of course, but through Pipes that might be changing soon......if we all think pure thoughts and vape a ceremonial bowl of top shelf bud. I'm doing my part there, are you?

I will just wait until you come up with the correct solution.

For anyone who has received items from PlanetVape in the US via small packet air shipping, was it any faster than the estimated 6-9 business days? My PVHES stems shipped Friday morning and I'm in SoCal. Just wondering since tracking isn't offered with this shipping method.

Thanks for taking a photo of this - you don't happen to own a multimeter, do you? I'm only asking because I noticed this PSU's specs are very similar to what's printed on a PS2 Slim PSU, even though Wikivape (whatever it's called haha) says a lot of people have damaged their Solos using it...

Anyway if you do happen to own a multimeter, measure it and see how many volts it really puts out.... if not, no worries at all :) I'm just trying to find out why the PS2 Slim PSU has caused people problems in the past!

I used an old PS2 slim power supply and have had no problems. I used to own a video game store though, so these are most likely actually "original equipment" supplied with the PS2. Since these are still being marketed today for a 10 year old system, one has to wonder if the design has been changed to save money, but again these could just be "old stock" as well. But I think the main thing is to check your voltage and polarity with a good meter before plugging into your Solo. Just wish I have found one of these before I scabbed on the proper conncter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_4216wt_917.
Using the PA is just amazing and every time it is used, that will probably extend the battery life by that much. Not worrying about the battery level is reaaly freeing. Need to build more to station around the farm. Does seem to heat up quicker than the battery, though I haven't timed it.

I'm also in SoCal and I usually get shipments from PV in about 3-5 business days. The chips are always fresh.

So my next question is:

Should I dry run three twelve minute sessions with the PA or just do it normally?

I want to be able to use this thing within the first hour I get it ;).

I'm so jealous,I love ketchup chips and they are impossible to find around me. My PV order can't with plain old Doritos, it still made me laugh when I opened the box

I think it's a kind of symbol. Arizer is a Canadian product and Ketchup chips are a Canadian only chip? :p

Not sure how long it will take in the US but I live in the UK and my planet vape order arrived in exactly 7 days! Well impressed.

Got to admit I love my solo even more with these PVHES stems :) and the travel tube filled with ISO makes cleaning a breeze.

PIPES, get your ass in here cause OF said so....I will PM that later K?

I got my tips today. I only used it once cause I just got home. I had already had in me oh I don't know a bunch. I must say it is very cool air now wow. I did have to increase my temp to 4 as getting an visible vapor was difficult and I felt it wasn't doing much. Now on another note I got a new head cause I don't vape on 4 so I got some more actives. I am going to crank up to 5 maybe 6 and see what happens. If get hungry or tired I won't do it again. I will try the stock stem to see the difference in draw to compare. I am going to try it on my PN as well since it should fit that easily.

I am in agreement with OF though on more then likely going back to the glass. I like the tapered mouthpiece but would rather have glass in my mouth not rubber.

My thoughts to come.

Yeah, sure that'll scare him all right......

But good news for the forces of Goodness and Right. I've contacted the genuine Pipes and we've traded a couple of 'geek speak' PMs....he's (seriously I hope) considering the project. Time to think positive thoughts.

In other PA news, I've given a whole set of PA gear (charge and PA at home and car) to a buddy who has the factory PA to check out for us. Hopefully he'll be double checking my results. With any luck at all we'll have a collective plan going real soon.

I switchable PA/Charger would be so awesome. I kind of have that set up now with my solo stand and both plug heads in my nightstand garbage and I just pull the one I need. You all thought those pails were for garbage:rofl:.

I thought so at first, but found that I had to root around to find the switch anyway so I fell back to inserting or removing the regulator instead. The switch I put on prototype number one didn't make it to two or later versions. Not that it can't be put back, of course.

It also turns out you need to remove power to 'change gears' or the Solo gets confused sometimes and gets into strange modes. That is, hitting the switch while it hooked up and running can be a problem. Having to unplug the connection to remove or install the regulator fixes that.

We shall see.

Which would be basically what I do swap one plug to the other. You do have to wait that fraction of time or you do get the light show so you suspect correctly from my no knowledge:).
