Question about the PA.

If you have a full charge and use the PA will it take away from the full charge or the battery is unused?

Yes, slightly. One of these fine days I'm planning to crack it open again and measure it, but it seems to use 'control power' from the battery, the PA supplies only the heat (the major part of the power used, of course).

Dreamer reports a day's heavy use reduces the charge by one light, give or take. A recharge every week or 10 days should more than cover it?

I need to check however I find my sessions are longer or maybe my imagination is running wild!

Oh, in your case, I think both are true.....

I do notice when using the PA some subconscious thing it telling me 'free power, live it up'.

That must be the case.
Since I received the PA I find I'm more medicated than before?
Flowers are the same?
Checked my Battery and it was full after 4 full sessions with the PA!
Whatever a full session is now?
Seriously I was going to buy a couple more vaporizers this pass week-end.
No need in my case actually.
Some people have different needs than myself.
I understand this however how medicated does one needs to be?

MVapes I think you have lost it so go back to the boys room and stay there:uhoh:.

Ataxian, how long was yours plugged in between sessions? In other words how long in total? Four sessions of whatever time:rofl:. OF said heavy use, that is for light weights:nod:.

OF, I'm really interested in further developing your car PA. I might try to track down some similar parts and see what I can throw together to keep the Solo getting the amperage it needs.

By all means do. I'm planning the fifth prototype right now, looking at 3 and 4. Number 3 is getting some heavy use, still no issues. It runs quite cool even driving it at step 7 for 3 sessions back to back.

The parts are easy enough to come by. All the parts needed for version 2 came from Jameco. V1, 3 and 4 involve several sources, kind of a PITA if a guy only wants one to use.

Feel free to PM me if you need help or just want to chat a bit about it. I don't see the details as being of much general interest?

So I just got my PVHE and Power Adaptor. I love the stem so far. The writing on the power adaptor makes me laugh "Do not expose to Vapor" but....

Planet Vapes threw in a bag of chips...wtf....also the high temp o-ring and the screen came with the stem.....nice! All that and a bag a chips...lol

love the Solo!

I'm so jealous,I love ketchup chips and they are impossible to find around me. My PV order can't with plain old Doritos, it still made me laugh when I opened the box

Why don't you guys go bug Pipes? I think it's about time he got involved and started thinking of making a run or two.....provided the demand is there. And I think that's the case?

I suspect he (or someone else so inclined) could offer a package (regulator, car cord, main supply, cable/adapter) that would give you charge and PA at home and on the road for less bucks than the factory PA?

Besides, bugging Pipes is fun by itself......

I never heard of Ketchup chip...They have French writing, must of been headed for the French spe\aking part of Canada, that's Quebec correct?

Side note- A guy name CripSkillz made the ecig tank in my avatar pic.. I met him on another ecig / vapor forum. He is a glassblower who is also into vaping and medicating. He was making these awesome tanks like in my avatar. I am trying to find him again, the assholes of the other forum ran him off when he started maiking ecig catrtos for oil. Like I said he is a very skilled glass blower that makes awesome pieces. Anybody known him? is he ever on this forum?.. I want to find him..

We're getting better with making our own bitters, though.

True, true. Now if we Yanks would only get serious about a proper Stout......

Unless they've changed the rules, I think everything for sale has to be labeled in both English and French.....which is kinda fun given the long standing relations of the two countries involved......

When I make one of my own and am happy with the result, I will be more than happy to make a whole batch at once for FC members :)

I'll post about it in here whenever I'm ready to do that - i'll remember to let you know even if you're not checking the thread at that point ;)

Thanks for taking a photo of this - you don't happen to own a multimeter, do you? I'm only asking because I noticed this PSU's specs are very similar to what's printed on a PS2 Slim PSU, even though Wikivape (whatever it's called haha) says a lot of people have damaged their Solos using it...

Anyway if you do happen to own a multimeter, measure it and see how many volts it really puts out.... if not, no worries at all :) I'm just trying to find out why the PS2 Slim PSU has caused people problems in the past!

Cause they went on fire I believe. Try to put the ps2 in the search and look all the way down the list for older posts.

Sorry for not being clear - the only visible difference in the power specs listed on both PSUs is the PS2 Slim's is capable of putting out almost up to 6A. I plan to crack open both PSUs and do some testing and see why this happens with PS2 Sim PSUs.

I also heard that it tended to be a problem with older Solos, which makes me wonder if older Solos were incorrectly taking too much amperage from the PSU as opposed to drawing only what it needs (like normal). Either way, it's not too important, but just some things I was wondering about and might find an answer to soon.

Funny how folks shy away from gear that catches fire from time to time isn't it? I guess not everyone rents?

I agree with the Lady, it seems a quality issue. Solo draws about 2.5 Amps for the first few seconds, dropping under 2 rapidly as it heats. 5 Amps is overkill, I'm doing fine with 2.5 and 3 Amp supplies and the in line regulator dropping it to 8.

Likewise the 7.5 Volt unit from Jameco I posted a while back does a fine job 'barefoot' (provided you fix the connectors). That doesn't fit the car PA 'need' though like the regulator does.

You need to get past 7 Volts and stay under 9.

I don't think it's a model issue, guys have had the cheap PSUs catch fire with new and old. My 'take' is the PSU doesn't like no load/partial load cycles? For whatever reason while perhaps OK for the original task it's not a good choice here it seems.

Haha, hadn't even thought of the load cycles question. Yes, that explains a lot as the PS2 doesn't ever leave the PSU in a state like that. Must be the case!

Must be the case!

Just a guess. It needs some repeatable tests to become a theory.

"Must be the case" is a long way down the road from there since we didn't capture any data on the failures. Still, the reports of failures should be plenty basis for a 'wave off' on the idea and search for a solution without a history of arson?

So in the end we could settle for not knowing why? Just knowing 'maybe' is enough?
