If you don't like the music, turn off your volume or play your favorite elton jon music instead.
You can still read instruction:)

Update here. I "bled out" my iolite...just air came out. I waited a few days, refilled it last night. I turned it on and after about 30 seconds it made some weak, pitiable sounds for another 20 to 30 seconds and then just stopped. I waited about another minute and tried to hit the piazzo button several times and got a tiny blue dot a couple times...but it wouldn't do anything after that, no welcome orange glow. Like dead. Okay, as I am not a technical person and opening up my device would likely seal its sad fate, what else can I do to revive my once lovely Iolite? I bought it from a private party at e-bay, so doubt I have any warranty service. Bah. Any other ideas???
Thanks (and real glad I have a MFLB :D )

That has happened to me a few times also. I just fill it up with one of the gases they recommend and bleed it out a couple of times, not just once. Keep bleeding it and then come back a minute later and do it again etc etc. And bleed it with the nozzle at the bottom. Just keep bleeding it.

505streetracer:
Start your IO empty and let it cycle a few times.
Shut if off.
The insides are now hot so be careful.
Unscrew the mouthpiece.
Use the small end of the tool to push out the screen through the mouthpiece area.
You can be a bit forceful. Keep pushing and it will come out.

You can soak it in ISO and it will clean up nicely.

I've had my iolite for about 6 months now. Almost gone through 2 cans of colibri butane. When I first got it I loved it now it's not working so good. I noticed that when it was new the orange light thing would always glow really bright now it hardly every glows like that. Usually only when it's warming up and it seems to be taking alot longer to turn the weed that brownish color and getting that done Taste. I have tried bleeding/purging it but it did not help. Considering doing a warrenty claim. Anyone else's iolite do things like this?

Is the Colibri an approved Butane? Sounds like a poor quality Butane problem to me

Yes it is. It's what came with it when I bought it and it says its approved on there website. However I have read online some people saying that they have problems with colibri in some butane lighters. I wanted to try vector butane but it looks like they dont sell it in Canada

Colibri is fine to use, I have had my Iolite for almost a year and have no problems using just Colibri. Try cleaning out everything and putting in a new screen. I did this when my Iolite was not performing well, and it worked miracles. The cleanliness of the screen makes an enormous difference in the performance.

I actually just cleaned it a couple days ago. My usually routine for using the iolite is once it's warmed up I'll hit it, let it do a couple heat cycles, hit it again and repeat. I recently noticed that the first heat cycle after a toke, the orange thing will glow nice and bright but after letting it sit for a minute after, all heat cycles after, the orange thing is really dim until I hit it again and only the first cycle after a toke will glow nice and bright. Anyone else notice there's doing this aswell?

Iolite - Keep gas on??? Reignite during session??? (merged)

Hi ive had an Iolite for a few weeks now and I have 3 questions.

1: I have a few friends with iolites as well. Some of them keep the gas on the whole time. After the initial light up, you turn off the gas and keep it off the whole time right? Its just a waste and toxic to leave it running?

that leads to my next question...

2: If you only leave the gas on during the first ignition until the orange glow goes away and you hit it a few times... the taste gets a little more bland. Does this mean that I should turn the gas on again and reignite it? Is it worth doing that? Another way to understand this question, is there ever a time you turn the gas on besides the initial ignition? And also what happens when it randomly hisses after a few hits when it glows but there is no gas running?

3: If I take a few hits and it starts to die down a little, and I want to shake the herb up in the bowl... can I just open it up, shake it around, then close it and keep hitting or should I reignite???

You're answers are much appreciated!!

hey bud

you need to leave the butane on durring the whole session. by turning it off after the first heat up youre letting the unit cool.

it has a bleed out period after you turn it off where it expels the remainder of the butane it scooped up.

just turn the gas on and hit the piezo button and leave it on until your session if over. after you turn it off, as i said, it will have a few more heat up periods as it gets rid of the rest of the butane that it sucked up.

hope that helps.... you've been wasting a bunch of herbs by turning it off after it heats up.. i dont understand how you can even get high from the unit only being on for such a short while? :uhoh:

the manual should say this as well...

hey guys, been lurking here for ages. i'm wondering if anyone's run their iolite without a screen, and if so, if it's had any negative effects. the retaining rings for my screen are broken and it's pretty hard to clean the screen any more to be worth using. i'll have to wait some time before i can order new screens, as i'm pretty broke, and won't have money to spend on screens for a few weeks probably :(.

Honestly I say just hit up your local head shop and buy a five pack of screens, there super cheap, you can then trim one and push it into the right place.

Hello. This is my second post on this topic. My iolite has stopped functioning. I have "bled" it several times. Today I put more butane in and it wouldn't even hiss or start. Nor would it bleed....so I have no idea what to do next. Aside from keeping on using my MFLB!
Any ideas or solutions? I bought it on e-bay from a private party over a year ago so I assume I have no warranty protection.
Thanks!

It doesn't sound good shortwind. As for warranty, the first post in the thread spells out the coverage. If you bought it before Feb. 1st, 2010, you're covered. If not, you're not. If you decide to check into out of warratny repair, their US # is 888-710-3055.
