hey hey,

A new sword came today from CA, new designed unit brand new (replacement), accessories and so.

One goody: the heat element in spare. One lacking thing though.

First try: raw to see heating element change color and heat. S1 batt and S2 batt. When you see them glow so quick and hard, YOu feel combustion is not far and this katana can slice you and your lung in piece.

hmmm feels good.

Very nice handling, less heavy feeling like the original one, all is adjusted good. Upper cap does rotate easily. I did not open two threading (upper cap and heating element access)... YET!
battery threading is smooth and more short coursed than before.

First shot from it result=no comb+2Hts: very very efficient vaporization like 2 sec with S1 config, 3 spots of dark coffee colored abv in blend. two good hits with prob 0.02.

second try: S2 config with S1 batterie=2 little clouds close to the defective unit behavior, shades of burnt in the middle

third try: S2 config + 1 filter on heating element (2 filters total) 3 biiig tasty clouds, shades of brunt in the middle.

next step: two spacers and 3 filters. now i am vaped. and may be 3!

Damn i am able to make a 3 spacers sandwhich to filter that giant heat.
and upside down position to test too.

yummy.

Thanks FV.

I think the tolerances on the swivel cap are tighter than before. Mine doesn't rotate as easily and is harder to remove. You have to be careful not to unscrew the heating element access while removing the cap. Something you maybe haven't noticed yet is that you can also unscrew the battery compartment (more on that in a moment). It's threaded right below the switch. Hindsight: I should have taken pictures of a completely disassembled FV before I used it. I'd do it now except I just dropped my camera off for repair yesterday.

I had a bit of a scare the other night when my GM FV seemed to fail completely. The light would not come on no matter what I did. Needless to say I was bummed, so the next morning I took it completely apart (including removing the heater screen) to test where the circuit was failing. I couldn't find a fault so I reassembled it and lo, it worked. I asked FlashVAPE what he thought the problem might have been and he said that it might have been that the battery compartment had been loose. It must be tightened to make a complete circuit. As I said, I've accidentally started to unscrew the heater access a few times so this makes sense to me. It's probably the same effect at work.

The former unit FlashVAPE replaced so gently had a drastic drop of performance, battery cap false contact.

For the tolerance of upper cap, the unit i have is the opposite of former one (it was very tight), rotating easily and not sliding (translate).very twin central O-rings depdendant so particular unit dependant imho.whip make it turn very fine to observe clouds throught a window.

I renonce to access to heating element for now to unscrew the manufacturer adjustement. Let it be.

Different story for upper cap which clogs the glass pretty surely overtime. typically i found another place for the O-ring from the glass part in my former unit.

Let see multiple spacers and filters configs!!!

There are newer updated units?? I guess the one I bought from planetvape 2 days ago must be the older version :( that's kinda shitty

I don't think it's shitty at all. It's not as though the "new" FV is a completely different and way better model. The latest version lets you unscrew the heating element access so that you can replace the heater screen. This is a nice feature but one you probably won't miss. Suppose you got one of them, however. We know that FlashVAPE will shortly start sending out units that allow you to replace the switch. By your reasoning, that would now be "kinda shitty" for you. Assume you got one of those... well, you can see where that leads. You might as well resign yourself to the FV you just got always being "kinda shitty", because FlashVAPE's philosophy is to improve the device incrementally.

Pakolo,
It seems as if Flashvape is almost taking a software design approach to its vaporizer by developing constant and recurring iterations to its device based on user experience and feedback, particularly on this forum. The problem as I see it is that the iterations seem endless and that consumers are left to wonder if the device they purchase will ever be completely satisfactory. While I applaud their efforts to improve what I consider to be a very good device, I can see how this approach might leave buyers of earlier versions somewhat dissatisfied.
As far as I know, Flashvape is the only vaporizer company to take such a radical approach to upgrades.
What do you think?

I wouldn't trade my original FlashVape for anything . It works and is fuckin' amazing . But I could see adding another newer model to my tool box in a year or so . I think its a great idea to keep improving the old design instead of making a new product line . Its just Damn near prefect now everything new they add is a little extra icing on the cake .

What do you think?

I don't think it's a radical approach. Other companies have integrated incremental upgrades (or at least changes) to their product. For example, Magic-Flight has done this from the beginning, just not as frequently as FlashVAPE, but the MFLB is a mature product (not many new announcements) while the FV has just arrived (lots of new announcements). We know that VXL made incremental changes before they announced the Cloud+. Companies like Arizer have simply made changes without telling us what they are or when they were introduced.

There's nothing to be done about the dissatisfied. Leaving aside the lag in the pipeline as retailers reduce old stock, there are always edge cases who get the product the day before the new version is introduced. If the manufacturer compensates these customers somehow, that doesn't solve the problem, it simply moves the edges. I think introducing small incremental changes as FlashVAPE is doing is probably the best compromise. I'd rather see that a company is trying to improve its product rather than sandbagging changes for a big "new model" announcement. It means to me that the company places high value on getting the best product possible into the hands of the next customer. In the long run, I think that's a better philosophy.

Also, in this case the design changes are improving the ability to repair the FV yourself, not the way it works or the quality of the vapour produced. Let's not confuse design changes with accessories, by the way. Some of the recent announcements have been for accessories, which can be retrofitted.

I've got an original version, but I'm with Pak being glued together is not a problem to me. It's secure for now, if it gives me grief FV will have to get it open and put it right....and in the process upgrade the threads so next time I can do it. If it ever comes up. My MFLBs are all on original screens......

A guy can grow mighty old and do without waiting for a product to be perfect. IMO when a superior product with solid backing like the FV comes by, and you're in the mood and have the bucks, go for it. Moving forward is the key. FV is ahead of the bunch in it's little corner IMO, celebrate that and enjoy it now....not later?

i agree with user concern to FV, Cheers to FV! HIp hip hurray!

the answer for the HE upgrade will be the stats return of life of an heating element (HE).

imho This part is, with the violent and numerous temperature cycles getting meca deformation and stress, overtime this can affect electrical contact with copper wires.

Other return that could be interesting is the defaults that can be found in a used HE : mesh lacking, thinnings, corrosion etc..

If you want the swivel cap to rotate more easily, simply add a little bit of lubrication to the o-rings. You will notice a significant difference immediately afterwards.

thx for reply. My actual swivel cap does rotate easily and it is very pleasant unlike former one.

Second day of observation : 2 spacers and 2 filters. every lucky mofos that have the new FV should try it.
  • Giant cloudsss from the first day of FV!!!
  • The S2 battery is the same since i picked up a fv back and Still proper heating HE
  • with S2 batt the HE turn into a cherry within 1 to 3 secs regards to batt lvl, the S1 is small cherry within 2 sec approx
  • The session was perfect: 2' whip maintain 4 sec then pulse breathe vapor,
  • hold button untill taste tell to do so.
just 2 tiny tiny spots of moderate coffee brown. more even abv than simple S2 config that was charred in the middle.

the 3 filters+2 spacers was to me not convincing. The game is to reduce radiant heat to favorise convection. The volume convected must be efficient to create cloluds to be inhaled, i prefer to let a distance between HE and the first filter.

VERY SHARPEN TOOL. oh god you missed you. So blasted right now.

Love FV Love it.

I use my dad's old trick for lubing fishing poles: the sides of your nose below your eyes are usually a bit greasy. So just wipe with your fingers and apply! Human oil Lol at least you know it's nontoxic :D

Haha, that's how I lube up the O-ring in my SCUBA tank. Never thought of trying it on the FV, be back in a sec...

It does help a bit. While I'm here, I should correct myself. I said that possibly the tolerances had changed but that was Jack Herer talking. I'm sure that it's actually variances in the O-rings, so it is unit-dependent as Vapodudule pointed out.

Good news from FV, they shipped my replacement unit(heating element failure), i hope that this unit will do the job for many years of flashvaping, i receive today the mflb concentrate tray, it work but i think it will be better with FV (but i think that it could fall on the side, isn't it?)

Third experiment: 2 filters,2 spacers=perfect tool
  • maintain pushing button till edge of taste/temperature
  • 3 sec no hitting
  • pulse hitting throup whip and looking at density from the unstable flux of vapor on each interpulse breathe. And during breathing, strong density i see going in this tiny hole.
  • stop pushing button
  • keep breathing and shaking device to take last aromas
  • fresh new S2 batt
  • 0.05g of fresh flower FG-grinded top strain.
5 marvelous clouds (last was pop corny), could have been 6 ou 5.5+combustion.

even light dark avb going to avb n°1.

Love this tool of mass extraction. for FV too.

I had some extra acrylic so I made some extra stems:
Hb2Mwwb.jpg

The one on the left and the luxurious 5" long tube are for me, but I cut and sanded extras for people who want stems that won't break like glass (but they might crack if you bend them). They heatshrink just fine too.

I have 8 of the extra ones so the first 8 to pm or ask me will get one. They are roughly the same size as the 3" original but some are slightly shorter or longer so specify if you have a preference and I'll try to accommodate!

Edit: Just tried the long tube, not bad. It cools the vapor a bit more but not as much as I thought,
I still like the 3" best.

This is great! Vitolo is doing the very same thing (only for a different vape) over on the MFLB thread with some I sent him a while back. He's having guys send him a SASE with which he'll return a pair....one male, one female.....folks might even start breeding them?

Suddenly FC is breaking out in free stems! How cool is that?

Its nice to see the small iterations of changes coming into the pipeline. I think they're minor enough not to think our current ones are any less good. They're just nice refinements.

I was wondering though, how long should the 3.7v S2 batteries last for? I've been thinking i see a drop in performance in the past while. With the new spacer in, I can hold the battery in for 20+ sec and get small clouds. I used to be able to pull big clouds. I'm going to trying the reverse the battery idea next. With nothing in the bowl and a fresh battery, the heating element seems to only faintly glow orange, is that usual? How bright is it generally?

Beefsupreme Flip that battery and watch it glow . It really did make a big difference in mine , before I was using the 3.7v S2's in conduction mode now after I flipped the battery It's much hotter and much better with the spacer . Can't hurt to try , might work for you as well .
