question......... anyone use the POWER manufacturer butane???? No one here in albuquerque,nm carries vector so ordered some online and wont be here till next week so i found a store that carries POWER butane 5x refined. Is this a good or bad idea to use this butane???? On the iolite web page it says its ok to use but i would rather check with you iolite guru's first before i attempt to fill mine.
thanks in advance
mario

No problems with Power or Lucienne gas.

chucku,
Thanks !!!! Just got mine on the 5th and i gotta say "this thing is the shit" Get great hits and the high is higher then i thought was possible. Every hit gives me a better high...Shit i am gettin old (38) and this is the first one i have owned. Dam WTF was i thinking. I dont understand why the high is so much different. Thats not a bad thing but a good thing for me... I have a severe head injury and with the iolite i am free to vape anywhere and everywhere and again the high is just amazing........
Thanks to everyone who took the time to post on this thread thanks you. The knowledge i have gained from this thread is just priceless.

Well I feel like I should update people from my last post 7ish months ago. I just stopped using Lucienne after my iolite started taking longer and longer to light, didnt hiss as loud and just wasn't what it use to be. I really should have check back sooner on the brand I was using because I'm now seeing many poor reviews of this butane. I ordered Vector and have since rigorously cleaned/vented my iolite in preparation for the new butane. I'm hoping that once I've used the Vector, the hissing will eventually be louder than it is now and that it will be easy to light again. I saw a similar situation where it took as much as a month to bring his 'back to life.' I'll keep this updated when/if things change.

My IO also got clogged due to my penny-pinching the last couple of drops of gas from a can.

I would hit the switch and had no hissing.

Empty / Refill routine many times.

Kept filling with Colibri and it started to hiss but very weakly and then would stutter-hiss.

Kept emptying and refilling and now about a month later all is well again in iolite land.

In fact just tonite an orange light on the first flick!
All from help and suggestions from this board.

Yeah, I have been using Lucienne and Colibri for the last few months and what is being described here sounds all too familiar! I bought mine from a LHS and Iolite USA said that it was a shop that was under warranty protection. Mostly over the last 6 weeks it's been the Lucienne but the shop I bought it from said it was very good! I didn't mention using it with Iolite. (but I am sure any of us know way more about the Iolite than almost anyone) I thought that my problem was temperature related, because it worked "just okay" in the house the last month or so, but before that it was rocking me pretty hard! I must have some dirt or deposits in the tank that need to completely evaporate...

I am probably going to have to go thru the hardcore purge and cleaning. I am very clean when it comes to the herb chamber. There are always 3 stems in rotation and I boil them to make taking them apart easier. On those occasions I replace screens and retainer rings as well.

I bought the MFLB as my trusty, all weather portable because of the fact that you didn't have to wait for ignition. I really like my Iolite so I too hope I can resurrect mine! :/

I will also report back on my findings...

I just picked up a newer used iolite locally for $80. Just did a bowl and it works awesome. The process is a little slower than any of my other vapes. About 10-15 minutes. The hits are thin and airy, but I am definitely medicated. The efficiency is great. I used a MZ stem to fill the bowl. It was a little more than a stem worth of herb. It seemed to vape it well. Left it a little lighter than when using a MZ.

My first impressions, works well and is very convenient. However, the retail price is quite high and the durability is questionable. Time will tell how long mine will last.

DaProfessor,

Hey guys. I've been using my iolite for well over a year now and it's still working in top form!

Quick question and I haven't searched the thread - I'm not sure how.

Is it possible to vape budder or oil in the iolite? How about hash? I know it will probably get it really dirty, I was wondering if anyone managed to work their way around it with some DIY or something.

Thanks guys!

is butane the same as lighter fluid ?

If you don't know the difference vaporizers may be too complicated for you.
never used one before they all seem complicated right now but the portable ones seem to have problems not sure about this one . does anyone know what temp this will go to as there doesnt seem anyway to control the temp on this vap?

dazza30 you've got some researchin to do, most of what you need to know about the iolite is in this thread somewhere. i know it's long but read as much of it as you can.
i don't own an iolite but it seems the most critical thing to remember is to use top quality butane. most iolite owners i believe have had good luck with colibri. look for multi filtered butane it should be 5x ideally. have never heard of the brand you have a pic of. you will gum up your io with cheap ass butane and have problems. as far as temp i believe the io gets to 374 degrees F. more experienced can chime in and give you more details but keep readin this thread you will learn much :peace:

** No other fuel type should be used.

bruce48,
HI. I've just joined this group and it is awesome. I had been lurking for a while (1year) because I had nothing to say. I bought IO-Lite yesterday and tested it. It was quite disappointing for me. In Turkey we generally use hookahs for getting high and I bought IO-Lite for health concerns, Efficiency, an of course portability.
I've read every single post at this thread so I know what to do. Thanks for every single vaporist in here :). Because of you I operated it as if I've been using it for years!
Here are my concerns:
1- Efficency: It is told Vaping is 2-4 Times efficient than combustion unfortunately tihs not even a slightest bit true in my case at least.
2- High: It has a very very different High than Hookah combustion. It gets apparent too late but it resides longer.
3- Herbs Last only 5 minutes (Manuel says 15 minutes) is it something wrong with my io-lite? I can only get 5 draws at most :( I fill half of the bowl filled with finely grinded stuff and I use 3 head thermal-pin too.Still consumes more than combustion. Please HELP!
4-Ease of use: Just Great!!
A-Fill the tank with Colibri, wait for 3-4min @ warm places (56-74F)-(14-24C) 4-5 min for cold ((36-54F)-(2-12C)) (Bottle down-iolite up just press it for 4-5 seconds YAY!:brow:
B-fill the chamber with half full herbs (herb filling is somewhat difficult though:/).

C-Switch 0 to 1, wait 5 seconds Hit prezo button, see the orange glow
D- When the glow is gone it is ready!
E- It is ready to take slow hits.
PS: Experiments performed between 36-74F ( 2-24C) at 1500Ft ( 440m) at 13 psi pressure (0.93 bar) %21 O2 content.

Your case sounds similar to lots of others that I've heard, and its true the first 5 hits or so are always the best and thickest. However that doesn't mean that your session is over, try sitting in the sun or under a light where its easier to see the vapour, you can also agitate your herb a bit to open up some new air paths. And remember that big white clouds are actually from the vaporization of benzene, the good stuff is more clear with a bluish tint, and is much harder to see, so just cause you cant see it doesn't mean its not working. Best of luck with your Iolite.

Benzene? I know that there are various undesirable hydrocarbons being released, but that seems like one poopload of Benzene. Is there any data source on that comment?
