The screen in the tip of the mouthpiece tube definitely gets clogged. It is actually interesting, when it happens you can take the mouthpiece out and look at it under a magnifying glass and you can see a fine layer of cannabinoid resin coating the screen, forming a barrier to airflow. You can always just take that clogged mouthpiece and smoke that resin directly from it, but that's a different topic :)

I think the best way to use the mouthpiece is to use that spring coil only. Don't grind too fine and draw slow and you won't inhale any bits and it won't get clogged.

As far as the other screen is concerned, i.e. the one inside the main unit, that will never get clogged. Since it is upstream from the plant material and is in the hottest part of the vaporizer, it won't get coated in resin. I have taken apart a unit that had a few months' usage and the screen was still shiny brass color. There was a tiny amount of pulverized, charred plant dust that got into the small cavity under the screen but nothing to worry about. Because you are drawing air from there, the tendency is for it to self-clean.

The only cleaning I do is occasionally clean the mouthpiece, usually with a lighter by burning it clean, and then occasionally scrape the inside of the main unit with a toothpick. I also clean both of those parts occasionally with a q-tip and iso.

I agree completely, the spring coil only is the way to go with a medium course grind. It allows better airflow from start to finish with no clogging. I think it provides a better, more even extraction over the screen in the draw tube. Also I agree that just scraping a toothpick over the bottom screen while warm is the best way to knock off the residual particles then a quick wipe with a q-tip. I am really enjoying this little vape. It works very well

Not to be all use every last drop or anything:myday: , but i would soak that mouthpiece and screen in Everclear. I clean all my glass with everclear first to collect the resin and glandular material that gets stuck.... it may not seem like much... but after a while you will end up with quite the little total decarbed tincture that you can just drink. (its in everclear:brow: ... the taste from the hash is not gonna be the part that sucks)

but if nothing else to preserve the screen (if your using a screen) its easiest ive found to just soak it instead of burning it off. ISO or everclear work best. screens that get soaked have always lasted me... in fact they usually last right up until after i burn it clean for the first time.... then they just get weaker and fall apart. in the even your using that coil spring, i doubt that would be an issue at all.

Have you noticed that finer grinds tend to not vape as well or is that grind recommendation only because of the coil screen so flower powder doesn't go flying down the windpipe? My "grind" is typically broke up with fingers or cut up really fine with sharp medical scissors in a shot glass. for comparison.

Got my firewood today!!! Looks amazing on the charger going to give it a test run after mowing the lawn is done! My guess is the screen probably wont get to clogged unless your grind is like the finishing grinder on mflb. But time will tell? i bet you could hold it upside down and use a few iso swabs with a qtip? Insuring none drips down inside the unit. Let me add Shipping was incredibly quick from michigan to utah in 3 days :D

Mine comes today too :) but I won't be able to try it until tomorrow. Let us know how yours is :)

Yeah I feel as if you could just knock out any excess herbs that are in the chamber and the iso swabs wouldn't be super necessary, maybe as a long tern kind of clean though..

Yes, it is so you don't get a mouthful of flowers if you are not using the screen.

If you use the screen in the draw tube you can go as fine as you want with your grind. But the finer your grind the faster it will foul the screen. If the airflow is restricted and your not mindful you run the risk of overcooking and possibly even combustion.

soooo, let me be clear in saying that for the first time i got the truly sour taste in my g13 Sour Candy. WOW:o so tart i gagged a little. but flavor from the yin/yang none the less. i did after a few good hits go a little overboard after a fresh charge and scorched a little... so this is possible. but frankly this is a pretty user friendly devices as this is my first portable (non-pen style) vape.... and first portable that did flowers....very satisfied!

only, to bad it cant do oil... yet:cool:

:science:

ps, im on the fourth load of the first charge. so far .... bliss!

hi everybody, first i have to say:Thank you al for this beautiful forum called "fuckCombustion" i have being enjoying all of your great thoughts and advises since last year june, but never logged in, because most of the time when you are all awke, i am asleap because of the time zone thing, i live in luxemburg, europe, i follow the firewood thread since the first line, and got catcht by it directly, bought it over etsy last week and it already arrived today here at my place after only 5 days including the weekend! great! know to this beauty of a vape: i took it out of the box checked the notice and started for a little offgassing, but there was quite non ;-) i could use it after a few minutes it only smelled a little wood on the first 2 minutes maybe...:-) then i did about 5-6 sessions until the lights no longer stood on, now the unit is charging since 15hrs local time so still 2-3 hours to go charging, but, i don' t know if it is an issue, there is no light that turned on for the charging indication and still there is no light, dear firewood, is thisa issue or will everything be charged in the next hours? thank you already for your answer.
again i have to say thank you all a lot, especially the ones like : dreamer, of, stickstones, medicalmarc, herbal ant, slim, joekickass....etc i stop know because all of you are great people doing great rewies and explanations, here in my country i am one of only few vaporizerusers, i guess i amm the onlyluxemburger having a pax, a solo a mlfb a firewood an extreme q a waldo and had a puffit, i am medical user, got spondylo- lysthesia (uncurable, constant nerv pain) had two times cancer and also got adhd to top it, so my life is crazy, i speak openly about the way i medicate, even if it is totally ilegal in my country, i outed myself officially 3 years ago, the cops leave me alone, they are maybe afraid of the medias, iam artist so i know alot of people there...:-) here they don't like scandals....but that is alll another story and off topic here, thanks again, i' m now hopping over to lurk a bit at the ascent threat...;-)

We always need more vaporteers who will spread the good word. It takes a lot of personal strength to come out publicly and proudly proclaim your usage. Keep up the good fight.

hi vaporEyes sorry forgot to mention you also

No need to acknowledge me. My information being useful to you is my only concern. Never cared for the spotlight much anyhow ;) .

your charger has the light on it, it should go from green to red while charging, and then back to green when finished. The lights on the firewood should not be on, the power should be off when charging.

oh kay! thanks a lot, for the quick response trever,,,,yess the charger light is red since the beginning,,,,so i was wrong with the notice....my fault, 'thought the unit's light has to get green or red.....;-)

just to update my previous post about my charger not working...

Firewood sent me a replacement charger and it fixed my problem. So it was a faulty charger to begin with.

When you plug in the charger, do it unconnected from the vape, and a green light should come on immediately. if no green light, you have a bad charger.

then when you connect the vape, the light should go red, indicating it is charging. it should go green in 4-5 hours for a full charge from drained battery. if it does not go green within 6 or 7+ hours your charger is probably bad. that's what happened with the faulty charger i got. it wouldnt go green, when plugged in unconnected from the vape and when i connected the vape to charge it did go red but then never went to green even after 10+ hours charging.

something to keep in mind if you're having that problem, but since noone else has mentioned it, probably rare occurrence. either way, marc will quickly exchange a replacement if needed.

hi burn! thanx for your post, my fw charger seams to work for the moment (still red since now +\-5hrs) if it is not changing to red in about 1-2 hrs i report back) i will also report about my avb etc in the next few days after some more sessions, but the taste already has got me and also the fact of the glass path...a bit like the new ascent..i even wonder already if not even better, because of the loads sizes,, i had tried like 0,05 grm and it wored like a sharme as with a bowl of +\-0,5 gr i dit after...also i had 5-6 sessions with the new unpacked unit, already with initial burn out offgassing...i used it directly after burn off to get the battery discharged for the first electric load.....still not green :-).... see ya soon !

my charges take several hours too (4+), I usually just try to make it last through the day and charge at night, when possible. If you are a heavy vaper, I could see the benefit of having 2 of these on hand to swap when charging.

yes that is the best way, charging while sleeping, i was just so exited when i recieved it today with the post and ha to directly try it etc...now i have to wait...but no problem, her the night only begins it is 20:29 right now still clear outside....so i hope soooon it is charged for the first real try s and impressions with a full battery....i also have to mention that i mostly use a medical weed called bedica that is made by the dutsh governement, i got it from the pharmacy, this kind of weed comes already grinded in boxes of 5gr and the gring is not realy fine the grinded bits are abaut 1-3mm thick and for the firewood (i think) they are exactely the right thing, i also only know the glass stem with the spring kind of wire, mine came without the ball screen and i think i don' t need the ballscreen with this kind of herb, that type of grind is also my preffered for the solo but thats just my 2€uroCents.... ;-)

greeen light!! after 5hrs39 of charging from totally drained to full.
now to the closer testing....;-)

ok, started with a very small load of about 0,05gr just to see the capability of smallest bowlsizes...useally i need about ,3 gr to medicate in one load,,, usually,,,but i got to say this thing brings me to the same good feeling with only ,05 not even 0,1 gr !!! thats how it should be! in that session, i also have to say, ther was just one real big cloud, the rest was very thin, but 1st i don't need big clouds if i'm brought/vaped where i need to be and 2nd it was really a very small load, i made some pics, but i am not able to find the way to upload them to the site from my ipad....and than 3rd when i like to see big clouds with a portable i take my solo... in a few moments i will try out a bigger load for comparison in terms of cloudnesss my dear amigos from over the ocean ;-)

hi again...second bowl already vaped, this one was bigger than the first, about 0,1gr, then it made more and obviously bigger clouds, took about 10 minutes to get baked, very uniform nice avb, just before black, i think i didn't used a lot of battery, i tried to wait 20 sec on the first draw but with the stem on the lips already, and i began to very slowly draw from the 20th second on, keeping the button held for another 3-5 sec, this does it very well, also the draw is a bit similar to the mflb, maybe because of the quite similar size of the stem diameter... i don't know...all i can say is...i'm sooo vaked :-))
something else..i know it has been mentioned some times before in the thread, but: the firewood is just beautiful, and feels very high quality when in hand, the taste is so nice even till the end of the bowl! i begin to like it like my solo...but still need to see how it will be in some month from now...also the solo will still be my everyday vape + the firewood, looking for, a third one with same capabilities, so i can vape throughout the day without needing to recharge when i am on the go...
forgot to mention the only veryvery little downpoint for the moment: the stem gets quiet hot after a few draws, i guess i will manage this with putting a silicone ring on top, like someone in this thread already made,(sorry, forgot who..:-)... )...

day 3 with the firewood, use'd it since the last charge yesterday night, took 3 sessions with +\-0,05 gr. each and when i woke this mornig i used it again with the same charge, another 5 total sessions until empty, the material was allways well done, i guess when you use it for small loads up to 0,15gr. you will be able to do 8 good sessions, because each session will be shorter then 10 min. the rest still perfect, i took away the 'springscreen' and replacedit with a small screen irolled into akind of ball and put it in the downpart of the stem, it is about 3mm thick it is not really a ball it is more flat on top and bottom, i find it same as withe the springthing,,but without any debris coming up, also i did put a silicon ring on the top of the stem to prvent big heat,, now everything nice ;-)

Glad you are enjoying your Firewood artist. It's a great vape isn't it? I love mine, and have been using it daily.
yes that is really true...i also begin to love this good machine ;-) i think with the good battery capacity and with my everyday solo i can go through a hole day on the road, so i just need a third vape for backup in case....:-)) totally VAS'ed,,,,;-))

update charged the firewood again at 18h15 now green after quiet exactely 5 hrs! feels less time than it took on the first full charge...maybe the battery was less drained this time before charging? but i'm happy (-; tomorrow new testing day ;-)
