My gratitude for your posts.

I did manage to free up all the parts via 2/3 heatups to soften up the gunk.
The chamber pulls out of the plastic housing which I did not realize at first.

The screen was quite clogged but all is well now.

Thanks to all for your help!

Approaching 3 months usage on my first iolite.
I love it, this little guy helped me stop smoking.

I think it will need service soon.
Has anyone sent one in for just service?
How long has anyone had theirs last?

Mine could use some service as well. Getting it to ignite lately has been luck of the draw. I'd like to know as well if anyone has done this.

I have sent in a unit previously for a warranty replacement and had no trouble getting a new unit when my old one was having issues. I have never heard of anyone just getting their unit serviced but perhaps you would qualify for a replacement.

I purchased a mflb while I sent the iolite in and at first I thought I would not use it anymore bit once I got it back I have put the mflb away and it rarely comes out.

I got mine (I-Inhale) about 16 mos ago. Once I got my technique perfected it has worked flawlessly and nothing has broken. It does not get used much but it is great for driving.

Nice. Are you using the straw method to get the herb out of there? I just started using it about a week ago and it makes loading a breeze.

I don't use the stem bowl to load with. I think it helps the screen stay cleaner just a little longer.
I tap/pour straight from vial to bowl.

I still have to clean/replace screen every 5 days though..

Quite a few head-shops carry them now. Have a look around and maybe you can dodge the wait. Just make sure to get a clear commitment from them regarding the warranty.

I'd make sure they're an authorized seller. You don't want to depend on a retailer to support a 2 yr. warranty.

This is what I was getting at, making sure they are authorized so that Iolite will honour the warranty. Apologies for vague-ness

Let me tell you that I would not buy any greey market products again. The service is terrible with at least one ebay "dealer". I now have a defective iolite AND a junk NO2.

Warranty info from iolite-

Any iolite (or i-inhale, for early models) sold before Feb. 1st, 2010, has the two year warranty, no matter where it was purchased. After that date, any online purchase must be made through an authorized dealer for the warranty to be valid.

Hi,

When I use my Iolite I tend to pack the bowl, hit it and leave any non vaped bits in the bowl and turn it off. Does doing this waste on vapor and brown the bud anymore?

Sorry if that sounds dumb, im pretty stoned right now.

The herb continues to cook a bit even after it is turned off.

I have found that if I need to take a break from a bowl I can salvage it a little better by turning it off, keep drawing to both reap last hits and cool the bowl. Then I turn upside down, tap and remove the herb chamber. I have a spot I rest it in sitting propped up so herb isn't lost. Using this method I am able to get another session out of an interrupted session with minimal loss. Course I prefer not to be disturbed during the bowl but if it happens...this is how I handle - works very well.
