@justcametomind: actually i have no clue what you are talking about! i don't know anything about a two week vacation and I'm not sure what this has to do with the upgrades :/ my post refers to the review on my blog (I had to change)! I was told by a fellow fc member who follows this thread for a long time, that they will upgrade old minivaps for free (i ment the battery, temp setting... update) but jorge told me later that these upgrades won't be for free! that's it. don't want to spread false rumours. sorry, if i've got something wrong in the first place

@mrweed ... I don't think Jorge has 100% clarified what will cost and what won't. It is my understanding that the firmware upgrades to existing units will be free but I doubt a replacement battery would be for instance. Jorge may decide to charge a nominal fee for the work apart from the shipping, especially for units that are out of warranty I imagine. I would expect the firmware updates would be free for those still with a valid warranty. This is all just speculation from what I've heard on this forum and through correspondence with Jorge.

Any cone samples and what-not he is shipping out to those who have requested, are of course free (at least that's my understanding ... can't see a mfg charging someone for something after they've received it with no prior agreement indicating that they would be charged ... ) ... whoops ... starting to ramble again!

"we don't really know when the new versions of MV are coming, with more temperature settings and other issues. Updates won't be free but cheaper for old customers..." that's what he told me, I'm just sharing with you guys what he said to me. don't know more than that myself.

Well, I think it is more then reasonable that the updates will cost a few extra bucks...for now I am more then happy with the way it performs, as stated before I would love to be able to have a lower setting of about 150C...

I really appreciate all the updates given here. It is so easy to fall out of the loop with this one. Being of Spanish origin.

I tried to ship my minivap out through Ups today the global shipper. They informed me it would be an eye popping 170.00 Usd to ship to spain. Thats a stark contrast to the 20 dollars or so I was quoted at by jorge...Im pretty dissapointed all over again.I fear if I choose to pursue another global shipper that these rates are a comparable. And if I try to ship it through my local post office, I risk it getting stuck through customs.. anyone have any thoughts? I contacted jorge again and am awaiting my next course of action... Its hurry up and wait all over again

I got loads of stuff from the US and never payed more than $40 for shipping, with 2 exceptions but I import a lot. Usually takes no more than a week.

Go for USPS, they are cheaper. Its just a small electronic device

Maybe you asked (or better they wanted to charge you) for some quick/trackable shipment, if you choose something less expensive it's shouldn't be more than 20/40$ as Roger says

Hi Roger D

Nice pictorial demo of the new parts!

I don't use a bubbler, just the plastic 2 piece straw. I'm confused about what the white plastic cylinder is for? Is it only for use with a bubbler apparatus? Additionally I'm not sure which screen to use in the cone and if I need to pry out the chamber and replace the screen there with one of the new ones? I used the mesh thimble when I first got the Mini Vape in the interest of keeping the chamber cleaner. However I got a better draw loading direct into the chamber. Should I go back to the thimble?

Help appreciated

Bill

Personally I don't think it's recommended to use the unringed screen inside the new cone and also the ringed/new one, as Roger shows in the pictures.
First because if it was to be used it would have been shipped in a fair quantity with the accessories set we all got lately; second because the new white cone is softer than the black one Roger and other people got (this was presumed by me and confirmed by the vendor Vapefiend). Being softer I see a risk of damaging the cone with the edges of the screen.
@bill: yes that cylinder is to adapt the cone to glass.
I was perfectly ok with the old cone and the plastic mouthpiece as well, and thimble. With the new setup I think the airflow is better so I don't want to load the naked chamber. With the old setup I did load the chamber itself but I don't want the chamber to be dirty like that anymore.. For now I'll stick to the thimble.
I'll see a possibility to leave the thimble at home if I'll ever bring the MV to a party/concert so it will easyer to load/unload and it will not be lost on the ground.

I just got my new silicone cone (came with one screen in it apart from the thimble and it DID NOT have the ring around it ... just a plain old screen).

Used it twice loading the chamber directly as I always do (just subbed the other cone for this one in my MonG--MiniVAP on Glass setup) using the silicone cone inserted in the MiniVAP top and WOW!!! What a difference ... huge clouds and extremely even ABV. ... this might be my favorite vaporizer right now.

That's a huge compliment from someone that owns 2 Clouds :whoa:

I am using my Cloud HydraTubes with it :) (also allows me to compare apples to apples ...)

I love my Clouds but the way the MiniVAP produces with the silicone cone, I'd say it's about at par with Cloud density and ability to quickly vaporize a load evenly to completion ... taste as well is about on par ... might even have a slight edge on the evenness of ABV which is saying a lot indeed.

Will have a Sublimator tomorrow as well ... so should be a good vape-off ... Cloud vs MiniVAP vs Sublimator
