I think it was explained early in this thread or another one that manufactures can't give you a discount because of how the contracts work with the vendors or whatever. Someone that was or is in the industry explained it and might again after my poor explanation. You can go to gv and get it cheaper and I did for the pn but I really don't want to deal with them as a lot of us don't.

The only discount I would like to have is time...it will be great if we FC'ers who pre-registered, get to pick up this Vape before the rest of the public buy theirs' through 3rd party companies...free adapters or whatever else will just be gravy in the deal...

Hey, I am the one that mentioned getting a discount many times and wish we did straight from them. That is why I relayed the story cause I never understood why direct was always more money which is why most of us in our daily lives never buy direct.

From what we were told we will get them first if we per-registered and I believe the first 100 will get the adapter and I forgot about the rest. I do think that DV will take care of us but only time will tell.

Without getting into the whole convection vs conduction (and this is not really for you Pak, but others reading this) very few things are 100% either way. I guess you could have conduction in a vacuum...

I had initially imagined that there was some porting or baffling used in the base to increase the length of the airpath (more room to heat it), but that has long since been disabused.

Are we correct in surmising from photos that it is just a straight short path?

I had mentioned this previously, but it has a lot to do with distribution/merchant agreements and not wanting to screw over your merchants. Keep in mind, if you undercut your merchants, you harm their business, and then they don't want to sell your product. And especially in a business where some people want to only pay cash, and others might have their local shop as their only source of information, you don't want to loose those sales.

[EDIT: On that note, I was in a local establishment that sells the Da Vinci. The owner hadn't heard of the Ascent, so I consumed 20 minutes of his time explaining it to him.

You are correct, especially about the "distributed in order of pre-registration."

Slight clarification to the free gift: I think the first 100 (non-FC) people get a free gift. I think the FC members that pre-reg'd and buy initially, all get gifts. So, not "everybody" gets gifts, but the FC members do and the first 100 others.

IDK about the Pinnacle, the Vape Critic pretty much said it's junk and I have no trouble believing that.
Now back to the Ascent.

Having just purchased a pinnacle, I can totally see why dv pushed the ascent back to make sure it's perfect! Don't rush something inferior to market. Take all the time you need dv to make sure you put out a great vape.

I owned a Pinnacle for a few weeks, it worked ok, with a glass adapter and my hydra tube. However for someone like myself who has owned lots of vaporizers both portable and plug in, it wasn't for me. With that being said my buddy who was a smoker loves it.... I gave him a great deal and he no longer combusts, everyone wins. Now back to the Ascent, I'm going with the black, snake skin style. What is everyone's choice?

Provided this is released before my itch buy me now trigger finger goes off on some other vape I like the wood, but I will go with the stealth black... Looks just like a cell phone, almost lol.

The pinnacle glass is really something special, modern diffusion in a pocket size!

When I get an Ascent (provided good reviews) it will undoubtedly be used through the PN glass as well:

Hello all. Thought i'd sign up and say hello since i've been following this thread with the rest of you since it was only about 25 pages long! This looks like this vape's gonna be the complete portable vape solution we've all been waiting for eh? Finally!

I've been a vaper for about 8 years or so now and i'm pretty oldschool about it. I really like my Vapor Brothers (Exremely nice company in my experience) and of course the Volcano - though i've owned/tried lots of others. Seems like there's never been a portable vape on the market that doesn't feel like a compromise compared to the table tops. They either don't pull right, or they don't make proper clouds, or they don't taste right, or you spend so much time worrying about battery life that it isn't even a relaxing experience anymore!

I tried the original Da Vinci a few weeks ago. I only got a quick shot at it but i was impressed, it felt like a breakthrough in portable vapes compared to things like the Iolite/MFLB/Solo and yet i already knew at that point that the Ascent was invented and soon to be on the market! We've all studied the spec on this thing, we all know in theory it's the one we've been waiting for to solve portable vapor frustration, it ticks all the boxes. Ceramic and glass, properly sophisticated temperature control, sleek perfect design, long life battery, use while charging, a perfectionist company who interact with fellow enthusiasts regularly on this very forum, understandably we can't wait!

Thanks to Da Vinci and everyone else for keeping me up to date while we all eagerly await the release!

So does anyone know what size the Ascents glass mouthpiece is? From looking at the pictures I'd guess it's 14mm in diameter, which would be the standard size.
I'm really intrigued by these hydratubes - can they be purchased seperately? Anyone know which shops sell them over here in Europe? Which size would fit the Ascent?

Yeah, my experience with the vb2.0 still resonates with me. I think I'm gonna go with the burl wood. Now, does anyone think I might be dealing with a unit that'll be more hot to the touch? I mean the other two are gonna be wrapped in leather while the wood is just painted aluminum. Aluminum unit would probably feel more hot to the touch than leather if all else is equal right? I should add for reference, my davinci is often too hot to hold nonchalantly, I have a special grip location that is adequate for the session and on the other hand my pax even during a long party session never gets hot to be unbearable no matter how I hold it. Maybe I'm just a wuss?

I am new to vaporizers, have been researching for a bit now due to living arrangements at the moment that make combustion difficult.

Do you all think its silly for me to start with this vape? I have read a lot about it and am in love with the design and promises from the specs! It's not that I have never vaped before but it just isn't my usual method. Should I start smaller? Its not out of my price range but I just really hope I enjoy it if I spend that much! Any input would be appreciated..(or I may just want someone to tell me YES go for it!)

I almost preordered last night from gotvape, but now after reading some of this thread looks like people think better to buy from DV directly?
