Are there any authorized sellers on ebay for the iolite? I only ask because I see it posted by a few sellers that claim the items still covered under the 2 year warranty but I don't see the unique seller code provided anywhere that says they are legit.

Edit:I've backed out and requested a cancellation of my transaction from the seller for not providing proper dealer authentication. Once that clears I'll be ordering from gotvape.com

I'm a bit paranoid about these things but its better to play it safe in my mind.
That's where I got mine- great service when I needed to email them about shorting me my whip tube. I passed on the deals on ebay for the warranty concerns. I wanted to be covered if I needed to be. I've had it over a year- no issues so far!

I'm on their site now and they have the offer posted for the iolite with the comfort pack all for 199 but when I go to add it to my shopping cart it doesn't say anything about the comfort pack, just the iolite. Should I assume its already included?

Personnaly i have clouds like the one with a volcano classic sets at 6 max and no more, and a bit less after a few puffs.

I never wait more than the first heating cycle plus another heat, at first i get no clouds but taste and then after 2 or 3 more heat cycles i start getting clouds.
Imo you should not have to wait for 10min, that's way, way too much.

Hope that helped a bit.

Good luck !
I only asked him to let it cycle for 10 minutes to see if it is getting hot enough to turn his herb brown. I am not suggesting that he or anyone would need to let it heat up 10 minutes with every use.

I was trying to help the guy out, but it seems that he is frustrated and beyond the point of troubleshooting. :peace:
My bad Budz Bunny, was also trying to help so there is no missunderstanding.
But indeed the poster seems to frustrated to read anything.:uhoh: :brow:

Back to Iolite, after a year or so mine starts to not functionning correctly. Sometimes it stops heating while still hissing until i ignite it again. Will have to take care of that.

But I m still happy with it, and they just sent me the new mouhpiece for free.

Vaporstore and Vapeworld are also authorized iolite dealers, and unlike Gotvape, offer discounts to FC members. Why pay $20-25 more than you have to? Vapeworld also includes an Aerospace aluminum grinder and a 320ml can of Vector fuel.

I usually go about 20 minutes on a bowl, sometimes 30. Usually in one session, but sometimes over two. I found that when I started vaporizing that my tolerance took time to adjust. Meaning that initially I would get blasted with 1 bowl, but now its just a nice buzz. Problem is I can "smoke" (like in the olden days) a LOT and just cant get to where I can with a good vaporizer.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE PEOPLE GETTING OUT OF ONE BOWL?
How long is a session? How much do you put in the bowl? How fine is it ground? How big are your hits? What's the quality of your herb? There are too many variables from one person to the next for a meaningful answer to your question.

I would like to bring everyons attention to an edit I made to the first post in this thread in relation to buying off of ebay and non authorised dealers.

http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=264

If you have any questions on this please ask or email me at ciaran@my-iolite.com
I have a few honest questions: based on this-

i-olite said:
Edit: Please be aware of the following extract from Oglesby and Butler's policy regarding unathorised resellers.

"As the manufacturer and owner of the iolite vaporiser and iolite brand, Oglesby and Butler Ltd have the final word as to who or what entity(company or sole trader etc.) are authorised internet resellers of the iolite vaporiser. All of our distributors worldwide should be are aware of this and be aware that NO internet reseller is authorised to sell on eBay, Amazon, ioffer or any other online marketplace unless explicitly authorised directly by Oglesby and Butler Ltd. This came into effect on the first of February 2010. Any iolites sold by unauthorised resellers will not be covered under warranty and we hold the right to refuse repair outside of warranty if the iolite is sold by an unauthorised internet reseller. This policy also applies to traditional retail resellers (brick and mortar shops) who sell online.

We would ask all present or future customers that are interested in buying an iolite on the internet to contact us first before buying to make sure they are buying from an authorised reseller. For ultimate peace of mind email us at info@my-iolite.com with the store name, web address and dealer code to make sure the dealer is authorised and the dealer code is valid and in date. All online stores that are sponsors of Fuckcombustion.com are authorised resellers.
First- If this is an excerpt, where is the policy above posted? I cannot locate it on your webpage, nor anyplace on the internet for that matter. Please direct me to where customers may find this info.

Second- why not add a list of authorized resellers (all resellers online and shop) to your website instead of asking customers to vet a purchase with you first? That seems terribly customer-unfriendly.

Third- Based on how many sellers there are just on Ebay alone selling your product- are you experiencing a lot of diversion (theft) of your product?
Many sellers are moving large amounts of your Iolites on Ebay (all are quoting your warranty in their auctions.) If they are getting your product from an O&B authorized reseller, then the warranty should be honored through the authorized reseller to them (the Ebay seller/store) so that they in turn can get the product repaired for their (& Your customer.) To deny even this, you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Fourth- based on this: NO internet reseller is authorised to sell on eBay, Amazon, ioffer or any other online marketplace unless explicitly authorized directly by Oglesby and Butler Ltd.
Are you saying there is a now a two-tier reseller level or a stipulation for your established online dealers that they cannot sell on auction sites without getting your permission? Are all your distributors/resellers aware of this policy change? I did catch the "should be are aware of this" in the quote above.

If you are going to continue down this road, you really should consider putting a banner or notice on your website to your potential customers regarding the authorized dealer stipulation. There is but one mention regarding this warranty voiding issue (#10 on the list of what's not covered on your warranty pdf: http://www.my-iolite.com/downloads/warrantycard-rev1-2010.pdf )

I can't see where this is mentioned anyplace else. :/

I own one- purchased from an authorized dealer but I can tell you, this is leaving a very bad taste. I am very interested in hearing your answers to my questions and concerns above..

I have emailed Ciarn at O&B to address these questions and related concerns, just so this post is not missed..

I purchased mine from an Ebay seller that stated they had the 2 year warranty but found out after that that wasn't actually the case. My msg to the seller after purchasing...

Dear greatbuysusa,

Your description of the Iolite portable vaporizer states it is covered under the 2 year manufactures warranty by Oglesby and Butler Ltd. That warranty (as stated by the manufacturer's website) is void however if the internet seller is not an authorized dealer. I was unable to verify if you are in fact an authorized dealer with a unique seller code provided directly from the manufacturer. I no longer want the item if it is not covered under the 2 year limited warranty and would appreciate if you could cancel the transaction and refunded my purchase.

- spikington2

And here's their response a few days later.

Dear spikington2,

Hello, my apologies for the delay in contact. We are awaiting
approval to become a licensed distributor, which should take
another 2-3 weeks for us to get approved. Regardless, we
support any products purchased directly, so if you have any
issues you can return the item back to us, and we'll handle the
rest.

Please let us know if you're still OK to go through with the
purchase and we will ship ASAP!

Thanks for your purchase!

Regards,
Ed

- greatbuysusa

By the time they sent the message, my unit was already in the mail. Looks like I'll be waiting awhile to get the unit, return it for a refund then order from a reputable site. Guess that's what I get for trying to save a few bucks. :(

i would like to begin my very first post on this board by saying thanks to everyone...the positive, the negative, the indifferent, the good, the bad, and the ugly...after having read all 106 pages of this board and concluding to roll the dice on an iolite i waited what i felt was an appropriate amount of time before tossin' in my :2c: ...and i have to say that it was probably best, as my relationship with my iolite seems to be evolving...

when i first got the thing, i was hopefully skeptical i was hoping it was as good as all the people who are happy said, but i was worried i'd get a dud and worried that i wasn't going to enjoy vaping as much as i wanted to. thanks to the advice on the board, i didn't have too big learning curve, but since vaping is different it took some adjustment...having said that, i just recently gave away a vintage grafix i've had since college for free because "I don't need that shit anymore" fuck combustion indeed...

then when the honeymoon was over, there was the realization that i needed to make sure i had a reasonably affordable supply of good butane (GotVape.com has been nothing but awesome with respect to this experience but 15 bucks plus shipping is a little steep for a can of butane - not a good deal unless you are ordering more stuff and getting a deal on something else). turns out the local liquor store has Newport, Vector and the crappy yellow can stuff. problem solved. back to lovin' iolite.

then i encountered my first (and to this point, only - knocking on wood) stem breakage. thankfully, it wasn't severe (i twisted a little hard when the unit was hot and the steel part came loose from the plastic, but thankfully to the bud-honey worked like a sealant and glue long enough for GotVape (again, these guys have been great - ask for Lisa) to get me some replacements. again, problem solved. back in love with the iolite...

then came lake tahoe...this was my first and only experience with any problems associated gas or the piezo...truth is, the unit is tempermental at altitude. while i was able to use my iolite, it was not the same iolite i know and love at home (which is at the beach, therefore at sealevel). it was crazy. while up in the mountains my mind kept going back to all of the negative posts and the problems i'd read about, but as soon as i got down to sacramento it was vapin' like a champ...i breathed a sigh of relief filled up the gas tank and the iolite and hit I-5 south toward so.cal...happy again

recently, my college roomie came to visit from europe and kid was skeptical because "them vapo shits dont do shit but make you cough. suffice to say the thing has been a hit. now homie is talking about quitting cigarettes and only vapin' the herb...fuck combustion indeed

anyway, i ramble...the point is that the iolite has been (imo) as good as expected. has it scared or worried me on occasion? hell yeah. but thanks to the thoughtful posts on this board i was able to get through it. whether you input was positive or negative, whether you liked the thing or hated it, i learned a lot from the many posts found here. thanks fellas.

as someone new to vaping (iolite is currently my only vape), i am now in the market for a home vape that i can use as a main vape to give the iolite a break sometimes. obviously, the volcano would be my first choice, but i dont want something so expensive. whats up with the MFLB and PD? any suggestions are welcome. thanks again.

Geeza,
All I can say, is I empathize with you. I've worked in a field for 7 years now where I deal with large corporations resolving warranty issues and facilitating repairs with other large corporations: Samsung, Sony, Extron.. big $$$ items, and I have never seen a warranty policy as poorly thought out and so slanted against the customer. I usually never get involved in asking the pointed questions like I did above. I've checked my email and see no responses yet. :/

You are not incorrect in your anger, for both O&B and hopefully the seller on Ebay can make it right with you directly considering his sale included a warranty that is invalid?

Either way, O&B is acting very unethically by putting the task on you to enforce their agreement with the carrot of a new Io if you succeed. Wow.

That is THEIR job to do and their job to cut off any dealers if they are not abiding by their rules.
And furthermore, this clause in the agreement of no Ebay selling? I do not see anything in that clause saying the warranty is void if the authorized reseller sells to another individual in bulk. The auth reseller is not selling on Ebay, from what I can infer- the warranty should still be valid to the authorized reseller. Yes, it gets cumbersom, but still: Io --> Auth Reseller (warranty valid)---> sold in bulk to person A (warranty valid)--->you (no warranty).. however Person A should be able to go to AuthReseller to get warranty support.

I smell a rat. We will sell thousands of Iolites to our resellers, knowing they will in turn sell to folks who have an Ebay store, and we get to keep the money &move all this product without the concerns of supporting it after the sale because we altered the reseller agreement! How did they relay this change in the contract to the resellers? Letter with request to sign & fax back? Phone call? Did they alert them at all? Hmm wish I were still friends with the business lawyer dude.. I'd have some interesting conversations around this one.

I'm still waiting on O&B to please address my post from earlier. Still hoping there's some integrity and that perhaps these cumbersome clauses can be changed or a work around can be made for those caught in the middle. O&B, these are your customers you are hurting. Enforce your own agreements with your resellers and cut them off if you need to, but don't leave so many people who are buying your product, supporting your company in the lurch.

Parts of these two statements are very racist and hurtfull. I understand you are angry but there is no reason to stoop to racism. I would ask you kindly to please edit or remove.
We are angry and there is no racism in sticking em where etc etc and as far as bein a paddy well im ENGLISH and proud!!!! however I do buisness correctly and pride myself on custoner care and sattisfaction!!!! mod note: this is now the second time you have stepped out of bounds with your iolite rants. The forum rules are simple...be nice. You can see how indigal conducts him(her)self for a good example of what is an acceptable way to express your discontent around here. We're not going to get into any english/irish stuff on this forum. The iolite has certainly had its share of reliability problems, and we want to know about them. What we don't want is emotionally charged posts about the problems or repeated posts about the same problem.

Is anyone freaked out by the fact that the iolite sounds like a butane torch lighter when its lit?

It looks like a nice product, and I am leaning towards purchasing one, but Last month, when I tried the iolite for the first time in a medical dispensary, it sounded exactly like a butane torch lighter was going on inside the device, and the taste was a little funky. It kind of concerned me, since the device is ran on butane :uhoh:

Does anyone have some insight on this?

I tried it out for the first time yesterday and when it worked it turned out awesome.

I'm having a couple problems though.

-I have a lot of trouble filling it with butane. I'm using Vector Quintuple Refined and it seems like when i push the can down onto the receiving nozzle, butane escapes from the can and soaks the iolite, making me a little afraid of turning it on. I have 4 cans, and the problem is worse with some more than others.

-After I fill it with butane, it takes me 5-6 pushes of the button after I set the dial to "1" for it to actually ignite. Sometimes it doesn't ignite at all and I empty the butane with a pen and refill it.

-It smells like butane when I turn it on. I don't know if this is harmful or not.

Thanks for any help.

Personnaly I don t find the hissing noise to loud. I use my iolite everyhwhere, and the only place it can be annoying is when I m at work... so i turn the fan on in the office to cover it.

@Idolizabroke

When the butane escape when u trill the fill it up, it's suppose to mean that it's filled up already.
Other than if you don't live in a cold area you shouldn't have to push the button several times.
The smell of butane is maybe due to the fact that the ignition is not on, if not I don't think it's normal.
Just my :2c: here.
