All these years, and all of these devices, I still; reach for the Iolite Classic when I leave for the Post Office.

Wow, you must have a much better PO than me. No Iolite ever made is half enough for that......

Lucky you.

Iolite 2.0 review:

To be honest, I never was very interested in the Iolite just by its look and the fact that I've made bad experience with vaporizers that use butane to heat. For me, it doesn't really look like a serious device for aromatherapy (you should never judge a book by its cover!), also I've imagined it to be much larger and very unhandy. So I was very surprised when I've opened the box and found a very small and light device, that isn't much larger than a regular box of cigarettes.
After filling the gas tank with butane, the vaping could start. Btw. I'm using butane from the supermarket, because it's very hard to find the premium butane over here which is supposed to give you the best results.
Anyway the supermarket-gas works very well for me.
To start vaping you simply have to fill the herb chamber, turn on the device and light up the ignition spark. A orange light will start to glow. When the orange light turns off you can start inhaling, this happens when the max temperature of 190°C is reached.
Note: the heating time might vary, depening on the butane you use and on the lighter settings in your device. mine gets the job done already after 25sec. The manual says 45sec though!
Even if 190°C is not my prefered temperature setting, the Iolite does a very good job. When it cools down too much it will automatically start heating again for a second. The heating process is a bit loud and the whole devices gets very warm though.
The vapor quality is good. Definitely much better than the devices where you can't controll the temperature at all, but what I like most about it is that this mechanical device makes you completely independent from any power supply! So if you're spending a lot of time outdoors, this thing will never let you down, unless you haven't any extra gas with you, of course. I will take this on festivals and camping trips for sure!
This thing is definiteley a recommendation

Mobility: 4.5/5.0

If your stuck using butane that is less than stellar, I'd suggest occasional tank purges to avoid clogging both the nozzle and mostly the jet. More so if you happen to be one to let the tank run dry before refilling.

Just picked up an Iolite locally, I think it's the v2
Does anybody have tips to make use easier/better?

anyone with any experience using this for wax and other concentrates? would you have to mix it with bud or can you use wax by it self? thanks in advance

I have impregnated cotton with wax.. (using 91% Iso.)
when dry , I have placed it in chamber and had great sessions.
That is as waxy as it gets!
Clean very well after each use if you do this

Thanks for the quick reply! How would I go about impregnating the cotton with wax and iso? Havent heard that method before sorry :/

I melt the wax in Iso... in a shot glass... just a bit.
then I dip the cotton in that.....
I take that cotton, and spread it long, and flat, on apiece of foil until dry.
I wind that around the center post in the "oven" (do so loosely)

You need to put a fair bit of bud or something in there. Don't try loose wax or oils. I often run .125 grams of fine ground dry bud with .05 or so in the middle (usually with 2/3 above and 1/3 below, it seems to migrate mostly up.

Works great, keeps going and going, tastes good but fouls the screen much faster. I tend to run fine screens but need to change them out every few bowls. I save them in a jar and flame them clean all at one time.

received yesterday and here my first impression: the technology achieved is very mature and indicates well the 2008 existence.

having both wispr 2 and iolite V2.0 let me say iolite has his own place on the market!! hurray for them.

Very very proud of my orange ovni who has his own case and can be put in even hot

I am considering the Iolite to Wispr 2 upgrade. My biggest gripe with the Iolite is the low temp. I like to get as much out of vaping as possible, but at 375 I feel like I am missing out on too much. 410 sounds like a way better temp to me.

You are and it is. Other handhelds achieve higher temps but theyre all battery powered. The Flash Vape, for instance, can get very hot and IMO is a better design than the Iolites. But not stealthy and limited battery life.

Yeah, the Pax gets to 410 on high and it is my main portable vape. The Wispr 2 uses 410. Some people here have said that Iolite is offering a trade-in deal where you get a heavily discounted Wispr 2.

My problem with the Flash Vape is that I want a set it and forget it vape. I like just being able to turn on the vape and it works. I like to vape socially so having a dummy-proof vape is a big plus to me. Also I like that with the automatic vapes I can heat it in my hand while walking normally. It seems like you would always need to be still while using the Flash Vape or very skilled. The Pax and Iolite are like smoking a joint where as I imagine that the Flash Vape would be like smoking a pipe or bubbler in public.

moving to a Wispr 2 is not an upgrade in my eyes.
My 3.5 year old Iolites all still are out in the community as different patients daily drivers and all still working.
I have a 2 year old Iolite classic that gets used daily with never a hitch.
I have had 2 Wisprs (one replaced under warranty the other given away to a friend for spare parts.)
I have had a Wispr 2 and found it to be like the Wispr (OK for 1st couple of days then blah...)
I sent it in for warranty and when I got the brand new one back, I turned around and sold it IMMEDIATELY while it was still brand new, and never looked back...
I repeat my hypothesis:
Going to a Wispr from an Iolite Classic is not necessarily an "upgrade"

@vito: Then what do you reproach to wispr2 or wispr alone? I never had an issue with wispr2 (ordered from europe and directly from iolite), may be a disconfort for lightenning the flame.

I perfectly understand the difference between iolite classic and wispr and why some could prefer and love iolite classic.

I actually use my orange iolite classic frequently for day use and love it.

Yeah, the Iolite doesn't get as much love as it should. Mine got stolen earlier this year and I had to find a replacement for it(went VB 2.0). Never even considered the Wispr.

Other than the noise it made it was extremely stealthy, reliable and once you got the hang of it, got ya really high. I miss it.
