Well now to start it's just flowing super weak. I try to fill it and it sounds like its going for like 2 seconds then overflows. Then i try again and same thing happens. Well when I keep it running it just stops flowing. Yet I can still purge alot of butane from the tank so honestly I dont even know right now. I'm just frustrated to the maximum and I want to just be baked. Considering this is my only piece thats making it kinda hard.
While it is turned on try lightly tapping it on a table or something. Sometimes that gets mine going.

I gotta say I am disappointed to not see Iolite responding to these posts here like they used to.

Ironically right as I was about to give up I figure the I'd give it one more shot. I filled with my nearly empty butane can and it actually went fairly normal. Anyways it started roaring strong like it used to and after like 15-20 clicks it ignited lol. Oh man this thing sometimes...

LOL...

Wakenvape: If you are getting an overflow of butane as soon as you try to fill it, then obviously you aren't getting much butane into the tank. This is probably why when you turn it on (to 1) you wont hear much gas flow (roaring) and you can't start it - because there is very little butane in the tank. When you purge the tank when it didn't start you aren't helping the situation, because you re-empty any butane that did get in. I would suggest you check your fill port for debris. See if there is anything in there preventing the internal tank from being filled by your can.

I guess you're lucky that you were able to fill it with your old can of butane. Just remember to watch out, as the end of those cans can be "dirty" butane more likely to clog the internals of your Iolite.

Anyway, sometimes these can be tricky to start. I've heard of people tapping them, or shaking them to get them going, but that all seems anecdotal. The piezo electric starter I think can be tempermental and clicking 2-3 times should start the orange glow if there is sufficient gas flow, however sometimes this too can go south and require replacement.

I hear that there is now a US office for warranty repairs and replacement. If you keep having trouble, just contact the manufacturer about service.

Thanks for all the info Derf.
I've tried two new cans of butane both of them won't fill without overflowing. The only can that can fill is the old one and it's going on it's last few drops.
The blue light doesn't even come on anymore when i click it. Sometimes i see a blue spark but no blue flame at all ever. Well it was fun while it lasted time to buy a bong.

Edit: for now i'm resorting to mechanical pencil piece (metal) and toilet paper roll woo! I couldve done alot with that $200 too

Oh and theres no sound when i turn it on after i attempt to fill with a new can but thats pretty obvious since none of it is getting in the iolite so i'm just sitting here listening to it flow super weak hoping to atleast get a blue flame out of the 1000 clicks that ive tried

Lol it just stopped flowing yet when i purged it sure enough butane came out. It must be clogged or something and how to unclog is something i do not know.

the times that mine seemed to not want to start, I let the thing get really hot up on the defroster of my car and then it starts right up.

perhaps the fuel injector expands a bit allowing better fuel flow or clears an obstruction.

Well, I've come to the conclusion that my unit is semi-clogged on the inside probably from me using the bottom of the can butane. I don't see how I can honestly fix this. The flow no matter what is just super weak i have to put my ear up to it just to hear it. The last time and the last few times it has ignited was during spurts when I could the butane roaring in but it was only during these like 2 second spurts that i could get the blue flame to turn on then stay on for the necessary amount of time. Now it barely flows I guess i have to send it in even though they say it will take a month from when they receive it to ship it back..

wakenvape, your story speaks to me!!! Your experience with the IO has ended the same as mine. Is there nothing you could do to fix the semi-clog?

if you can purge and stuff comes out, i don't see how that part of the io can be clogged. if stuff can come out, it can go in. plus if there was a clog there, the purging would prob fix it. sux, i def hate to be without a vape.

Wow, a month is aweful. I had to send mine to Ireland and that only took a month. I though that now that they have a service center in the US it would be much quicker.

I must say that I used to promote these to all my friends, but have since been having second thoughts. Its like they dont care anymore.

I agree that a month is a long wait to be without a vape.

Still, running on butane these vapes seem to be tempermental to the quality of fuel used. Since we don't all have the luxury of 5X refined butane at the corner market, these problems are bound to continue to creep up on users.

The only action I'm going to take now is let it be for a few days. Maybe in time it will work itself out I don't know how, but I have been using it a little too much lately. A break is always nice. Also considering two full butane cans are now half full due to refill/purge/run/ etc etc. Over and over again no need to waste anymore.

On a side note I used less then I usually use in my Iolite in a homemade zoom tube and one hit got my eyes to turn red and dry instantly. That's the one thing I miss as weird as it is. I almost never got red eyes while vaporizing, which is good for stealth and all but there's a certain amount of pride that you get after blowing out a huge cloud and your eyes instantly drying out. Thats when you know you're gonna be toasted.. So I don't know I guess it's fine to mix things up from time to time.

Maybe i'll look into something cheap like a vapor genie as my alternative while my IO isn't working.

@Wakenvape. I just sent you a private message.

For anyone who has trouble starting the iolite after filling please follow the instructions below.

"When igniting, having re-filled from empty, switch on gas flow for approx 10 seconds before attempting to ignite.
For best results switch on gas flow for approx 10 seconds, switch off again. After a wait of approx another 30 seconds ignite as normal. In the event of over filling you must allow a period of 5 minutes before switching on."

Also you can weigh the iolite after filling to insure that gas is in the unit. weigh the iolite before and after filling. From empty there should be 2 grammes in the difference.
From completely empty to completely full is 2.6g in my experience.

Hey guys, I'm mulling over buying an IO as my first real vape. I'm just wondering, though, how efficient is it? Will I be able to get the most out of my bud?

Hey just created an account here to ask a quick question. Im sure that this has been asked but i cant read through 100 pages looking so sorry. I just bought my iolite yesterday and smoked about four bowls out of it. It lights fine and always keeps heat, but i feel like after getting noticeable vapor from the first two bowls it is barely kicking out vapor any more. Im not sure if this is a problem with butane (Premium Colibri), the screen, time i allow to heat up, or the quality of herb that i have used. I really want to get this thing ripping the way you guys claim it does and like i have experienced the first two vapes. Help appreciated.

Faulty stems aside, the Iolite has only one real main shortcoming in my book - it is a fixed temp vape. It is factory set at 365'F. At this temperature you will vaporize 100% of the THC in the bud, but there are other cannabinoids which are not released at this temperature. These other cannabinoids augment and alter the effect of the THC high, and some people prefer to vape at higher temps (380, 390) to get these altered effects. One such advantage to vaping at higher temps and getting the other cannabinoids is for pain relief.

If you take the used herb out of the Iolite and put it in another vaporizer with a variable temp that you can adjust to higher temps, you can get a slight bit of more use out of the bud. You could also do an alcohol extract or butter extract on the Iolite's used herb and cook with the extract and get a little more use out of the bud. Both of these facts provide the ability to further "process" your bud and get the most possible use out of it, but by itself, the Iolite is not using up EVERYTHING in the bud.

On the other hand, smoking is even worse, as you are burning off a lot of the THC and cannabinoids when you set fire to the bud.

Tips for use
Make sure your herb is well dried out, and very well broken up - herb grinders work very well here.
Don't fill the bowl all the way full. 50% full seems to work well.
After you attach the bowl, wait 30 seconds or more for good conduction of heat into the herb.
Remember to inhale Sloooooooowly, like little sips, to maximize convection of heat into the herb.
ALso, between hits, give the iolite a little shake, it will re-distribute un-vaporized herb exposing it to new air channels and you'll get more use out of the bowl.

WHen you say you've loaded 4 bowls, you mean filled the bowl, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, empty bowl, fill bowl, repeat three more times, right? You don't mean you've filled the bowl and taken 4 rips off of it, right? If your fourth hit is less vapor-like, that is normal. If your first hit off the fourth bowl is not very thick, it could just be that you are loading and hitting too quickly, and the internal temp of the bowl isn't up to the full 365 that you want it at.

Hey there. I know it is a pain to read through a large number of pages, but please try, or do a search (your choice), but here goes the answers (in my opinion).

1. How fine is your grind. I find the finer the better, almost to the point of being dust. Some people want it a tad coarser though.

2. Is your herb dry? The Iolite works better with dry rather than wet hreb.

3. Are you trying to go all the way through a bowl, or are you periodically stopping and either stirring the bowl or crushing it a bit finer?

4. How much are you loading?

5. Are you getting high? If yes, then I say it doesn't matter if you can or can't see the vapor

6. How long are you preheating?

The more info you can give the better; the above 6 points are a good starter.

Hi everyone. Just got my iolite this morning. The girlfriend wanted to try some baccy in it so we did. Took a cig and broke it up. Only problem is, when we tried breathing in the vapour, it was far too hot. Are you meant to leave it a long time so the vapour cools down? Unfortunately we didn't receive a care package with it.

Any help would be appreciated :)
