MiniVAP Vaporizer

Thanks a lot tep! You took your time to help me.
But it's like vapefiend says, the cone is really soft!
I can easily see myself losing the teflon mouthpiece if I take the unit with me around!
It's not very stable on top of the unit, it can fall easily.
With longer mouthpieces like the silicon tubing it's even worse I think.
I hope Jeorge will take my suggestion soon.
Until the teflon doesn't fall off, the seal is better and everything but the portability is reduced to your terrace or garden imho.

Well, I tried, and will see tomorow for myself how the new cone holds up. I know this should work without any of us 'tweaking' it, but maybe a little bit of teflon tape on top of the new cone might make for a better connection? I mean, wrap a few layers of teflon tape around the top part of the new cone, making it a little bit bigger and as such maybe making a better connection to the puthpiece and or silicone?

Hope you get this worked out, bcause when it works it works like a charm...I for one have not touched my solo anymore since recieving my MINIvap, and for being such a solo admeirer that says a lot...

Is it just me or a bowl with the new system lasts a lot longer?
Just now I'm keeping puffing and puffing from a single load of 150mg more or less (something less than half a chamber). From my earlier experience by now my bowl would be spent and I would get harsher hits or no vapor at all.

Sounds like a better and more even session...it is more than possible that you've mastered the vape :) or its just easier with the new bowl...

I wish I could try the MiniVap... :)

Dunno what you mean exactly?

How do you load yours? Do you use the basket?

I think the cones make a huge difference in and by themselves. The chamber is more airtight improving the amount of hot air in the chamber and possibly heating the load more evenly?:2c:

... Personally I do not like the silicone tube, but one way i found it worked was sliding the white piece of thick teflon over the top cap(the little rim on it fits nicely), and then sliding the silicone over this piece. It is a bit of a tight fit, but once it is on, it is hard to rip it off by accident...

An adaptation I like is the use of the Magic Flight Launch Box hose with the clear plastic mouth piece. The hose seems to be the same size as the one included with the mini. And the clear plastic mouth piece has no noticeable restriction in the air flow like the white or black one does. This same hose will fit perfectly inside the hose that comes with the Extreme vap from Arizer. And with the 18 mm gong joint on that hose gives you a connection to just about any piece of glass you would need to use.

can you post a picture Lostclusters?
@tep: I use the basket and I load more or less 150 mg per load. It seemed to me I got longer sessions meaning more satisfying hits per load. After "x" hits my load gets spent (not particularly brown with the old cone). With this new configuration I think I'm getting "x+n" enjoyable hits before the load gives harsher hits or no vapor at all if the load was small. I also think that the ABV get a little bit more dark brown.
It's just a couple of day of use but I already came out with some theories and a new mouthpiece :D Too bad tomorrow I'll stop vaping for a few days hopefully.

Party vape? How about everyone loads it's own bowl and you pass the minivap to cook it?

have recieved a testing device. here is my honest minivap review (copied from my blog):
No doubt, with 469€ the MiniVap Vaporizer from the spanish company HERMES MEDICAL ENGINEERING, S.L. is the most expensive portable vaporizer on the market. There are just very few products in the same price range.
I had the opportunity to test it for a while now and find out myself if it's worth the extra money!
Hell yeah, I really like the MiniVap... what really surprised me is the fact that the vapor is very smooth. It's not even harsh a bit! For real, the vapor is much less aggressive compared to other devices. If you have problems with your breath, throat or lungs (like me), you'll find the MiniVap much more pleasent and less aggressive than others. I've enjoyed that a lot, cause most vapes leave you with a very dry throat, but not this one. Sadly I have to give it back again, soon...
But to be honest, I think it also has lots of disadvantages against some cheaper competing products atm. For example: it's not really mini, actually it's also one of the biggest and most heavy portable devices, as well. With the battery atteached it reminds me pretty much on a maglite flashlight. Also it just has very few temperature settings. The mouth piece and the whip are also a bit short, burned my lips while drawing too hard. Some further gadgets would have been nice.
On the other hand it heats very quick and it's very easy to clean. The herb is stored in a thimble similar thing that you have to insert in the heating chamber. Another screen keeps the grinded herb from inhaling them.
Btw. I was told that they will have a new version on stock soon and they will upgrade old ones for free! Most of the disadvantages mentioned above will be fixed (smaller and lighter battery, new temp settings...). That's what I call amazing customer service, if that's really true. Time will tell!
I know it is a lot money for a vape and not everyone (like me) has 469€ to spend for one, but if you have a (medical) need for that ultra soft vapor, you should consider to get one for sure. It's a top notch aromatherapy device with real medical qualities! Otherwise, a cheaper one will probably please you as well.

I wouldn't recommend anyone the cloud in these times...

The most important thing in a vaporizer IMO is reliability...
Ok ... I get your point ... however, making the assumption that they are going to pull through one will be able to recommend the Cloud in a few months (or now if one is willing to accept the risk) ... it is worth noting that I got my MiniVAP in Jan, and although it has always worked on adapter ... I currently have 2 units and 2 batteries and the 3rd unit/battery is supposed to be arriving any day and I'm yet to get a functional unit on battery ... just saying ... :) ... I'm also assuming that MiniVAP is going to come through and eventually make things right for me.

They first sent me the wrong unit (just the PA unit, no battery, even though I had ordered the unit with battery and no PA0. They sent me a battery once they received them, but it didn't work ... so they sent me another battery ... which also didn't work ... so then they sent me another unit ... and they've been waiting for stock on the new units which they finally received and sent me one week before last. So yes ... I've been 4 months with a MiniVAP without ever having one work on battery. The main reason I bought the MiniVAP was as a heavy hitter, travelling unit, specifically for use with battery and it's never worked for me on battery.

My Cloud problems have been significant as well ... but ... my point is every vaporizer out there can have potential problems and my point still stands that the Cloud and MiniVAP each have their positive features and I appreciate each for what it is and how well it performs. (Also to note ... the only other vaporizer I've purchased this year, the Cera, I've also had problems with and need to send it in for maintenance/repair)

Would I recommend all 3 of these vaporizers I've had problems with? Definitely. They are the 3 I use the most often right now despite that they are the 3 I've had the most issues with ... I guess being on the bleeding edge of R&D and being a relatively early adopter that's the cost ...

For what is worth the MV seems more humble, with all due respect.
Of course they have issues but they are nothing compared to issues with the Cloud...
And I highly doubt that the support from MV team will be bad like VX (IMO), sympathy is zero with VX as I already wasted 800$ for a unit that lasted a week...

With my Arizer solo I have zero problems and LSV as well... just saying...

I agree to-date the MV has fewer problems but then again I'm pretty sure there are many fewer units out there.

I'm confident both companies will do their best and will get all issues resolved to my satisfaction eventually (I actually currently have 2 100% functional Clouds right now despite being without for a long time)

I has issues with my Arizer Solo and Extreme Q although I did truly enjoy both products.

My service experiences were FAR from stellar with Arizer ...

Actually in order I would say the following is the order for the quality of service received from vape manufacturers for which I've required service (from best to worst)

1. Thermovape
2. MiniVAP
3. VXL
4. Arizer

I don't want to appear a fanboy or anything but I received the right item I ordered, with battery, and as far as I know it's working fine, battery included.
I agree with you that Hermes Medical is a pretty small company, with every issue it comes with it.
I think that sending everyone these new accessories is pretty nice from them, they could easily charge 50€ for it.
This attitude bring me to think they are not there only for the money, but they care about the customers and the quality of what they sell too.
Probably if I had to struggle with a faulty unit for months I had a different opinion! But I didn't.

@m0sh or anyone following Cloud thread: I read some weeks ago there are some faulty units. Also read from a Vapefiend post that was better to keep a disalligned unit than asking for a replacement and have a non functioning unit. Anything else since I was thinking to get a Cloud someday?

Hey guys! I got my cone today and the only thing I can say is, "BOOYAHH:tup:". It works Greatt! and I absolutely love it! The one thing that sucks is that it doesn't work on my Mobius;this is because it is a dewar joint and the MiniVap hits the top of the mobius when in use. The way around this is to somehow raise the joint up. I do this with a 14.5mm adapter and it works greattt!! This silicone waterpipe adapter is far superior than my previous setup. I had a 18.5mm male gong attached to a piece of silicone and that is attached to the Minivap; after a couple minutes of use the silicone would slip off of the minivap so you have to be careful. With this new setup it is sturdy and feels solid. I do not need to worry about the silicone piece falling off and breaking my adapter. Another plus is that the flavor lasts longer. Before the materials would still be in the heating chamber as you are not hitting it resulting in the flavor to dissipate because of conductive heating; whereas now, after every hit the material is isolated from the heating chamber so the material would not be heated. Fantastic! Now the one thing is that my 14.5mm adapter that I used to raise my dewar is stuck in my Mobius because of the pressure I put on it... Now what??????:bang: AhhhHahhh!!!:myday: Look below my friends....

*NOTE* When you lift make sure to rotate afterwards, distributing the lift force across the circumference of the adapter. Example: Lift, Rotate, Lift, Rotate, REPEAT....

Update...Jorge emailed me very quickly. Told me theres a bug in my firmware that makes it shut off without warning..Also he said theres an updated heater that will shorten heat up times a little bit, and reduce the whistling. I have to pay 17 euros( i guess) for shipping .I think its worth it though. Just have to wait to hear back from him for the address..Im a happy camper now. Hopefully he will finally exchange my original cone..I can only hope. Then maybe Il use it for tobacco or just sell it. Either way Im glad to be feeling justified for my extragavent purchase, again

Glad to hear you are being helped out. I personally have had nothing but good help from them.

@Jcat, I know this would not be the normal way of working, but maybe some one you know also owns a minivap so you could let him/her test your batterys and stuff? And you really sure you are twisting the battery far enough. it will come to a stop first, but then you twist it a little bit further till it 'clicks' in place (sorry if this sounds like stupid question, not intented to be, just trying to help and make sure the obvious was not looked over)?

tried the new cone on the go real quick, mouthpiece seems to connect fairly well to it, so I don't know how come some here have issues with it? Maybe my teflon piece has abit of residue in it acting as a glue? But honestly, the connection seems the same as my 'prototype'black cone and holds up fairly well...

And there were two of them in the package and both seem to work okay...So this again shows my experience with their customer service, no extra costs involved.

Surprised to read here about the future updates, I hope it will be available to us all soonish.

Dunno about the whistling thingy, sure it will be worked out though.

I definitely don't know anyone with a MiniVAP ... in fact ... I own more vaporizers personally than I know of in existence within a 850km radius around me ...

I'm positive I'm doing everything correctly and the battery is being connected properly (it comes on for 5-30 seconds after the battery is at full charge when the battery is connected). It's an issue with the unit(s) I received according to Jorge and it is getting taken care of ... just taking a really long time. A new unit is apparently in the mail on its way to me ...

Thanks everyone for trying to help though!

Do you think he wants to collect the money from us who got the accessories without even knowing when he was shipping? I'm glad I received those accessories, but I only asked to be on the list for the new cone. It would be so lame from him I'm sure it won't be happening. It was a nice surprise but think if someone went 2 weeks on vacation and couldn't receive the shipment..
As for me, I wanted to get an AC adapter, I would have gladly have ordered it with the same shipment if I knew he was shipping the long waited cones.
Said that I would pay anyway cause I'm happy to support the project but I don't think he's going to ask it like that.

My guess is what he meant to say was that the new parts will be available on the site soon. I have a feeling the early adaptors so to speak will be getting theirs for free...:2c:

Really hope to hear more about the updates. I really would love to use my minivap with different herbs and some of the more interesting seem to be vaped at 150degrees C so I really hope they can include that temperature.

And whats that about an updated heater? You sure he didn't mean updated firmware? Sure is exciting to see things are on the move so to say :-p

I highly doubt that is what will happen. I think he is referring to a complete upgrade of your unit.
