I think where most of the animosity comes from is the aggressive marketing and business tactics from S&B. In the past they have used their patents offensively and took part in trying to game the origional DaVinci thread by spreading misinformation about the vape. I'd imagine this is the reason some FC'ers have a disdain for the company.

Yes I remember that guy on the Davinci thread. Rather sleasy if S&B did put him up to it.

Nobody is going to deny the Volcano is a good machine. Where the debate is, is in how it compares to other similar vaporizers and whether the price premium is worth it.

The Volcano is overpriced in todays market with lots of other good machines to choose from for less bucks.
I got lucky and picked up mine used about eight years ago. I think where it excels is for use in vapour lounges or clinics where ease of use, simplicity and durability is important. A fine glass piece might not last long in those situations. The two vapour lounges in Toronto where we go on occasion have Volcanoes and I always bring my own bag from home for sanitary reasons.

I hope S&B will come out with something of a hybrid with their next product. Bag/Direct Draw and a bit slimmer footprint of the Volcano. Maybe a more healthier materials for the air flow.

I would definitely rip open my wallet if S&B ever produces something anything like that.

CombIning the build quality of the volcano wth a vaporizer better attuned to todays market could produce a very interesting vaporizer.

Definitely. Let's see what the German engineers are up to overseas.

I had the Volcano but traded it for a Cloud before parting ways with the Cloud. I love the consistency of the Volcano. I think we will see something new from S&B probably not this year but 1-2 years from now. I just checked their news section on their website. Last update was about the Plenty over a year ago... Seems they usually go 1-2 years between news update.

A lot of people here talk about the high price of a Volcano. When I finally stopped and thought about it, hell a ounce of meds was costing me just under three hundred and I was smoking it all. Cough cough. Anyway I just bit the bullet for a few months and bought my Volcano. It's performed without a single flaw for over five years. I've since added a MFLB and Cera to my collection, but I enjoy each for different reasons. I mean, how many different pipes do you all own? Variety is the spice of life.

I agree wholeheartedly. I find seperate but equal pleasure in the flavor of the direct draw solo, the solid power of a whip vape like the Dbv, the stealthy, toke anywhere convenience of the mflb and the reliable, satisfying bags from the volcano. All of them trump smoking and each has its place.

I first purchased the classic volcano around 5 years ago. A smoke shop in my city was getting shut down to new laws so everything had to go. I was lucky to get mines brand new for 300.00 even.

It's been banged up and left on for days and it's still running like a champ. However I only used around 30 times or so. I never got used to the vap and I felt like I was wasting herb, so it's been left in the garage for years. Just yesterday I started using it again after my SOLO stopped powering due to a faulty charger.

I used less herb at a slightly higher temp at 8 and have been getting great results.

I cover the screen on my Volcano with enough herb so I can't see any screen. That load will get me three to four bags. Sometimes I freshen up the fourth with a sprig or two of fresh herb .
That is economical enough for me as I usually do one bag a night.

My Volcano is about ten years old and has never been repaired ...I'm happy with the reliability.

Yeah glass or ceramic heating elements are the way to go. I got my SSV in 2006 and my volcano in 2007. While I did love the volcano for many reasons, the taste of the SSV was definitly better IMO. I ended up selling both and got a vivape last year. Both of the people i sold them to still have and use them with no issues. I cant say that the SSV will still be working in 2016 (10 years) but as of now theyre both running strong still

It would be cool to see S&B release a portable vaporizer...

thinking of splurging on a volcano as an alternative for my rockzap lol

Splurge! It’s one of the best vapes and pairs great with a log.
Currently using my Volcano the most, because its so easy to maintain and delivers a cleaner vapor than my WW. Maybe it’s drier out of the cano due to the lack of water, but I don't recognize much, only have dry throat when drinking too much schnaps while vaping ;)
If you go for it, also get the fine/powder screens instead of the normal screens – less particles and cleaning.

The clarity is beautiful, the benefits are obvious
Ive got a Volcano. Was reasonalvly priced. Ive misplaced my manual cant tell you exactly what model but ive had great success with mine.

It may be pricey....but the Volcano is a solid vape and the manual ones NEVER DIE.

I saved up to get my first one, then sold it because I wasn't sure it was worth it....then bought another because I missed it.

Tough to say it's better than my other vapes, but for a party it wins hands down.

Whips VS bags... My volcano bags are never dripping with brown goo, sure the (solid valve) gets a bit sticky, but never brown and nasty looking...

Really enjoy my Volcano, but nothing dries my lungs out and makes me cough more than a bag off this unit...even with water filtration, I find it harder on my throat/lungs than some of my other vapes. That being said, it's always a blast at parties :spliff:

Just got home from a bar and shared a couple of bags WhiteWhidow x BigBud with a roommate:science:
I usually start at temp setting 5.5 (184°C) - about 0.2g loaded. Raising the temperture a bit every bag and the vapor is not to harsh

Vapenstein1,
How much herb do you need to load in the Volcano for it to be effective? I regularly pack .05 g in my Solo / MFLB and they work great. Is the Volcano as efficient as these units?
