I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
My solo has just arrivedgot to admit this unit feels very solid. I received 2 glass elbow stems and its the M102 model Silver. I also got a free skull shaped grinder
which I will donate to bro in law as he collects strange pieces. Is it a 3hr charge initially? I have just packed away my MFLB and cant wait to try this solo out.

Other than some of the M102's losing their ceramic bond in the chamber and chipping away, I feel it was the best unit out there for HEAT retention and performance over others I've owned.
I still rock my M102 and now have a new batt pack installed and she's treating me great once again !

It amazes me that neither of us have pulled through herb but they look so different cause of water vs no water. Yours is smooth like glass and mine has oil droplets with some thick smoothness. It is very cool to watch and I
I agree, knowing (by knowing i mean uncountable) the number of stems i've packed to get it that far, i find it amazing as well that close to NO particulates have gotten through. I use a single 325 or 400 screen (I've got a few in rotation don't know which ones which) and quickly clean the bowl area with a tooth pick every week or two.
What temp do you vape at? I'm 90% of the time running at 7 for multiple 12 minute sessions at a time (help of PA at home), so the heat buildup in my stem may account for the smooth goodness.

I bet it is the heat. I run at three and very occasionally four. I pay no attention to which screen I use but still don't get particulates. I at the moment have a pv screen in the others were ones that randy sent me and the dome. The doming has been bothering me lately so switched back I would say a month ago. I wanted a bigger bowl size. I don't normally do back to back,(but did today lol), but not long in between. I of course run the full time. I found a pic today of it early on and that was on March 31st. I bet there is a post with the pic as well. I don't think I ever cleaned it but have switched off it but not for long. I received it on Feb 19. I guess that gives us some reference. I pretty much have used it every day except when I first got it. So it has been three month so far.

I've been using my custom GonG only for hydratube sessions on the go (since its so short, the pinnacle WT pretty much sits on the solo, its perfect). At home, I've been building this stock stem up with my bub. The past few days, i've been asking myself if it's time... but keep resisting cleaning it, it's been so long.

Seriously, i wouldnt have expected anybody to jump to conclusions and accuse photoshopping (which i dont even know how to do, the ascent contest thread will tell you that). Not everybody in this world lies and fakes things... Maybe think of what that could actually be in one of my three pictures before, mid quality galaxy nexus picture blur.... oooh.
I'd like to see somebody photoshop the ones above, please

It's hard to have a playful tone come across in a forum post. I should have added some funny smileys to my post, but i only meant to be friendly and add some fun to the thread
Just one screen, size 325/400 SS mesh that i cut out from a couple big sheets i have. I put a PV screen up on the mesh and cut it out to size. When I see the screen start getting really gunky, and a toothpick cant clear it off, i take it out and iso it/put a new one in. If you keep the bowl area clean, hardly any particulates will get through.

I don't have particles just oil droplets. The difference of smoothness is water vs no water. I have particles in one of my other stems before I started screening. I only clean my screen when it is so clogged I can't get a draw which was last night. I would guess once either ever week or even two but I never paid attention.

I now can practise the o-ring mod (PV order) and if it brings some improvement, i still cannot close completely the top shell of the unit.
This fact annoys me for two points:

- tiring the threading: overtime the threading will be stressed. Normally this part of the unit doesn't move at all.
- the beautifull and sharp design of the unit is wounded to my eyes.

I am loving my solo so far, still haven't had chance to read this entire thread yet
I will though. So I now know I have an older ceramic heater model. Do I need to be concerned and maybe change it for the latest? I am in the process of returning my defunct Da Vinci. The seller has stated I can get a refund or another vape. I am tempted to get the latest black Solo from him and then sell the older model I have? Or keep it as an emergency maybe? Not sure ![:\](/i/s/hmm.gif "Hmm :\")

be careful putting the cap back on, if you try to force it on all the way and it is giving resistance stop because you can crack the 4 screw holes in the plastic in the very bottom of the unit. if you look back within the past 5-10 pages at most you will see there are 2 different caps, one will allow you to screw all the way on with the ring and the other won't. if it really bothers you, you could try cutting it down with a razor blade or sanding down both sides. I wouldn't worry about the caps threading, mine hasn't moved since I put the ring in and it isn't all the way down.

There was some talk a bit ago about running inverters and PAs in cars. I'm sure not while driving of course.
It seemed to me at the time to be kind of going the long way around. I've been having internet connection problems (I expect to crash again at any moment....), but have been amusing myself by resurrecting the kluge I built to test the 'why do I get light show' issue. It's a simple high power regulator to make lots of current available...enough to run a Solo in PA mode....from 12 Volts DC. Sound familiar? Anyway, it works great for the function:
There are two connectors, power from either the battery or a 12 Volt 'wall wort' capable of 2 Amps or more (not the one needed for simple charging) goes in the right hand one, and comes out the center at whatever voltage you set with the control (obviously would be set to something like 8.5 Volts in this use). The switch above changes from PA to charging modes.
As you can see, it's pretty simple to make and doesn't really need all that heatsink in this mode, a more modest one would be fine.
