Thank you all

Yes, remembering it has to be DC rated, most switches have much higher ratings for AC...don't fall into the same trap as others?
OF

Yes I was able to find some solid 5A DC switches but they're made in the U.S. and cost a small fortune...thanks for the reminder

Sorry another stupid question...there are plenty of switches rated at 250VAC and 5A. Since the rough conversion from AC to DC is ~10x (e.g. 250VAC = 25VDC) from what I understand does, that apply to the amperage too? Or is 5A = 5A whether AC or DC? Could save some serious cash.

Very nice. A suggestion to square up the ends next time? Cut the tube a little long (like you did on the bottom end, shrink it down, and while it's still hot trim it off with a razor blade against the solid edge below. Just set the side of the blade against the metal and slice into the tube. When hot, it's pretty soft and slices very easily and neatly.

As you've discovered just because it's square when cold and expanded it won't necessarily be shrunk down.

OF
Sweet, I am going to go by some razor blades today, Thanks OF!!!
@ the $1.98 per foot I feel I can make it %100 perfect, ordered some more heat shrink to wrap the cera, and I am thinking of wrapping the copper body for the cera you & joekickass were kind enough to help me build!!

Nice! Does the wrap keep the Cera cool to the touch while it's operating? Not sure if you can answer this since you are using EO. But with the LL, I find that the cap gets very hot to the touch and is sometimes a challenge to take off to look at or change the load. I have a piece of rubber on the cap, and it helps, but wondering if there are better options.
I dont have the loose leaf but the EO can sometimes get really hot as well when passing in rotation(Hence the 510 drip tip mouthpiece to keep lips from burning under extended use)
The heat shrink does help keep it cooler to the touch, not 100% but it does help a lot, you can also get different thickness's..................but with the 510 mouthpiece away from the actual EO Cart & the wrap (heat shrink) I dont have any issues with too much heat on my lips or my hand from holding cera anymore.
I was thinking maybe trying to do a double wrap on the cera and see if that helps the heat even more!!!??? Will post my findings!!!

No downsides to wrapping it in shrink wrap?

I find the temp to be just fine with the plastic condom on the mouthpiece, but I might wrap this thing simply to change the color.

Better yet...any downsides to wrapping it in something like that fake carbon fiber vinyl? It should all be out of the air path, but I like to play things safe and ask first.

I don't mind that it looks like a vibrator, but my friends bitch about it. If that is their biggest complaint then I suppose it is doing a great job.

you know what I actually love the look of the cera, but Iam scared to drop her and or scratch or scuff her up. I wrapped her to provide some kind of shock absorption & scratch resistance to cera in case i ever dropped her. I have to admit I got more function that I though, because the wrap helps with the heat, & like you said it also can be a means to customizing your own look or color, maybe even designs on it or print of some sort!!!! Also i figured it could help some one who might of wanted to but not sure how it would look!!!!!!!
So in all Iam glad I got some other peoples creative juices going!!!!
So far Darkrom, no downsides, wrap looks and feels pretty cool(visual/customization), my cera is a bit more incognito(especially at night), she's stays cooler to the touch, scratch and some sort of shock absorbtion!!
I was inspired to find some sort of protection skin or wrap after I read on FC that one or 2 members (I Think Including you) cracked or had chipped there ceras !!!!

The vinyl should work and its easily applied by wrapping or even heating to get it to stretch a bit!!!
The vinyl might be a bit thinner, and might not hold the heat in as well but it should work and provide you with a one of a kind cera !!!

In my opinion and experience with heat shrink tubing, the results were similar to cheap cell phone cases. It made my high tech device feel and look kind of jank, which is not what I am going for. I don't like the way the holes look punched out, and the thickness diameter fluctuations and end cuts slightly being uneven due to the nature of slicing and heating by hand.

Also the clean nature makes it kind of seamless, I don't know, it's just my own quirk but the wrap says you got something to hide  less is more
Wrapping it is not for everyone, The camera does no justice.
I do have friends that dont use phone cases at all they say "it makes my phone look ugly" or "it takes away from the beauty" but the funny thing is those same people have the most tore up phone Ive ever seen, scars ,war wounds, broken glass screen (iphone users), so all in all its mostly for those who want an option to protecting there investment!!!
My cera can look ugly or be an eyesore, but to me its what she puts in my lungs that matters!!
:lmao:
Oh and maybe you missed in my earlier post that these are still rough drafts, anyways its all a matter of opinion! some will love it some will hate it, but if it helps some one then I did my job!!!

I just want to thank BLAZING OG again for posting that ".07 dab with a clean cartridge" video last night. I think this is easily one of the most helpful videos of the Cera EO yet given it was my own direct request :p

To give some info on it to make it just as helpful for everyone else who uses concentrates in the same fashion I do:

I typically carry 4-5 different concentrates on me. Usually I'll have a sativa dominant hybrid for daytime use when I'm experiencing mild symptoms, a 50/50 hybrid for daytime use when my symptoms are a little worse, an indica dominant hybrid for the late afternoon and early evening, and then a heavy indica for nighttime. What worried me about the Cera was that I was hearing it works best with a big load around .25-.5. Well, when I only need .05-.07 of a single concentrate at a time, having to load .25 would just be a waste given that a couple hours later I'd need to hit a different strain. So if that was the case, then the Cera wasn't for me. I had been PMing BLAZING with questions regarding the Cera since I had seen his previous couple videos on here and he was more than helpful in answering all my questions. Then yesterday I asked him if he could do a test for me by giving his cartridge a thorough cleaning and then taking a video using a small "load as you go" type dab so I could see how the Cera would perform under my usual conditions. As his video has now shown, WOW! Those were some monster hits for a .07 dab AND it was a cleaned cartridge as evidenced by him running it dry without any vapor coming out prior to loading the dab. So it looks to me like the Cera can function rather, or should I say exceptionally, well with a dab of that size! I think this is good news for everyone because it shows the Cera seems to be able to do what you ask of it. I can't wait to try my own :mmmm:

Thanks green2brown for the kind word's , I was curious as to the outcome of this little test!

No, it absolutely does not. That was the whole point of my former post. DC ratings for current are usually (but not always) lower, often much more so.

There are lots of ways to kill a switch, but one of the most common ways is shutting it off (counter intuitive as that is). Even in pure resistive cases, reactive ones can be worse. I all has to do with the shape of the contacts and the rate you can open them up in a race against the electrons. If a spark starts (and it almost always does) and isn't 'quenched' fast enough the arc continues to conduct current but also shows voltage drop meaning power is produced right there which can make the effect degenerate even more. Pitting of the contacts (leading to random actions later) and even welding (causing immediate failure to open and usually a 'burn out') are the usual results.

AC use, since the current stops and reverses 120 times a second (100 to the second in the UK) gives an automatic current stopper built in to protect things.......hence the higher current ratings on AC. But it has to do with mechanics as much as anything else. Engineers fight this with slightly domed contacts (which makes the arc move around but reduces the contact area therefore maximum current capacity). Also plating various metals is a common approach.

This difference in current ratings for AC and DC is exactly how TV got into trouble with the domed momentary switch. It was just fine for AC. DC was kind of a time bomb.

You sometimes see the same effect with momentary switches where the normally closed (turns off when you push it) version has higher DC current than the normally open (closes when you press) version since the push is solid and can have a stiff action from the human, the action on release is limited to what the spring inside can provide.

It all comes together in a perverse way to gang up on our 'simple little switch' problem. They do exist, but are not pretty....thus far. The one I made is still going strong, although I only use it sometimes. It uses a ten amp DC rated switch.

I looked through some pages but couldn't find it, is there anyway someone could tell me where the posts about checking to see if your switch is faulty are? My Cera will not heat up now, even with a new battery. Thanks.

Vaporpedia has a bit on it. A quick way to test if it's the switch is to try replacing the switch with a walnut sized wad of aluminum foil. If this works better than the switch does, then that's your trouble. The chances are much greater, though, that the strap in the body is where the problem is. When that's the case, some find that pressing down on the cart helps it work. Depending on when you got your Cera, that's the most likely point of failure. Get in touch with TET and they'll take care of you.

Thanks. I tried the foil and got it to light up a few times, will probably just send the whole thing in just to be safe. At least it is doing it with both cores, so I don't have to waste the .5 of premium wax I just put in the EO core.

Bummer dude, I hope this will be the last time you have to part ways with the cera.
On a positive note if it is the strap(wich its most likely to be , certain pressure makes the core fire up) Iam pretty sure I read ehre a few pages back (maybe darkrom) that the SS ceras are now being laser welded(I am hoping its more reliable than the solder??).
Good Luck

I did get the LL core to fire up twice by pressing down on it, so the strap is possibly the culprit. I hope my Cera gets fixed fast so I can get back to using the EO cart. I finally got to fully test the EO cart the other day and the people who are calling it a 'portable nail' are not exaggerating, it is that incredible. The flavor is also topnotch.

Get a multi meter and connect the leads to the switch body and spring. You should have continuity with the button pressed.

I'm pretty sure there haven't been any problems with soldered units. Those were V2 after the original Cera straps started failing. V3 is the welded strap, which is a change made for easier manufacturability, not increased durability. DR had to send his back again after receiving a soldered unit, but it's still not clear what the problem was there… There's no reason for people with soldered units to worry I think.

My understanding as well. There have been a few returns with the strap itself failing up near the screw plate, but the soldered connections themselves were still fine. Initial failures were with crimped (above) and crimped and conductive epoxied (below) connections to the strap. In cases where pushing on the cart after it's made connection with the screw plate (even if not fully in) points to a strap, not connection, failure.

Welding does not seem to offer any direct advantage to the owner. Time will tell. TV is on it.

Sorry but all have been spoken for. If someone doesn't pay for one that they reserved I'll let you know.

In the meantime I have to wait for them to be shipped to me from China

What is the max load the EO cart can handle from empty core weight?

Normally I just load .4g over empty and when down to .2g over empty I reload another .2g, this is covienient at home but not for the 10+ hour day I have tomorrow. I have seen mentioned .75g is doable but I have problems even getting .5g over empty without it wanting to bubble back out making a big mess and usually loosing .1g to the cleanup. Is there any tips on loading to full capacity?

I was kind of wondering the same thing. I was interested early on but I didn't want to actually commit to buying one until I had at least some idea of how they perform. I'm glad other people are buying them, though, even if I don't get one. I was conflicted for a while because I didn't want you to get stuck with a bunch of extra MPs or something.

Personally I just think it's awesome that you offered this to us and quickly followed it through with it.

Can't wait to try this tip and props for going all out on this project to make the tips. Looks
Iike a second batch of these tips will most likely be made from all the responses and hope they work out great!

I'm happy there's actually some cera videos now on the tube! I would love to see some videos on how you assembled you cera like that blazing OG, among other awesome vids!
