Is your thought that if the glass is cold to start then the vapor will condense on it and stick quicker? I'll try that out.
or you could just make oil? same difference, less time?

on another sad note

Bart the VapeXhale mascot has been missing since 6pm in South San Francisco. If anyone knows the whereabouts, please contact us. We miss our dog dearly.

Ok, so apparently the cigarette lighter adapter doesn't freakin' work or doesn't generate enough power to get the compressor going or something. A little blue light comes on the front of the adapter when I plug it in, so it seems to be working. And the compressor works because I plugged it into my car and it started. So maybe when the adapter converts the power it loses a lot or something? I have no idea. That would have been such an easy way to clean my ELB's. :(

Oh well. Anyway, after being disappointed with all that, I was determined to find something better, for cleaning my ELB, other than my SSV pick, which doesn't work good at all (fantastic for stirring, however).

So I'm looking around my house and I stumble upon some DenTek Easy Brush Cleaners.

http://www.dentek.com/product/144/easy-brush-cleaners/

These things are pretty darn good, and the bristles are actually thin enough, yet strong enough, to go through the mesh in the ELB, which I thought would be impossible because it's one of the tightest knitted screens I have ever seen.

Anyway, these things are great for cleanings in between packings. Honestly, unless you just got resin gunked all over your ELB, these brushes will make it like brand new. They'd be perfect if the end was a little bit bigger and longer (but with the same bristle size), and if the wire the bristles were attached to was a tad bit more firm, but as far as how good it cleans it, it cleans it almost perfectly.

BTW, I just wanted to mention something while it's in my head. Before I suggested just using the cap of your ELB to push herb into your other half for loading, if you didn't have anything better, because that actually work really good (if you grind really finely like I do), but if you do this just make sure the outside of the ELB doesn't have particles sticking to it. I now brush the outside of my ELB off each time before I put it in my Cloud, just to make sure.

Question for all you guys. Do you leave your ELB in and loaded with your Cloud on with the temp up when you're not hitting it? If I have my temp high, and my Cloud is fully heated, when I put my ELB in you'll smell it. It smells so good, but I'm wondering if tiny bits are getting vaporized without you knowing it/seeing it? I mean something has to be coming off of it for it to smell that good, yeah?

And damn, Bob, sorry about the dog. That's VX's dog?

purplek: All Clouds have 3 holes in top of the bamboo to make 2 serial heating chambers. There was never a Cloud with just one hole. These 3 at the top are close to each other so it can be hard to see there are 3 of them there. Newer Cloud have a fourth hole in the middle, probably to make a big pre-heating chamber. I think this hole update is pretty old one, I've been seeing Cloud with that hole for a long time. I think only the oldest Clouds didn't have it. Here is one photo of bamboo I found: http://i48.tinypic.com/2j2i59l.jpg

EDIT: I've just took some better pictures of holes in my bamboo:
egd7yh.jpg

Perspective is very strong with my camera, so the difference seen in the left is not that extreme in real. But it is there. Left is top, right is from bottom. From top even with perspective you can't see holes behind as they are larger adn the high perspective doesn't help it. From bottom, you can see the small holes behind very well, perpective boosting the size difference. And just by comparing these two foreground holes one can see the one on the top is smaller. Even when the bottom hole is deep and should appear smaller jjust by perspective.

http://i39.tinypic.com/11hqyom.jpg
Top (left): Red: 1st hole from top, Orange: 2nd, 3rd and 4th not visible.
Bottom (right): Red: 4th, Orange: 3rd, Yellow: 1st and 2nd.

4th and 3rd are actually the same size, just very far from each other, so the perspective makes the difference here. 1st and 2nd are the small ones.

purplek, you have any funky weird smell or taste with yours?

It's not as bad as it was a couple days ago, but it's still there on mine.

When I turn mine on full blast, and put my nose up to the top, I can smell like a curling iron-esque smell.

Edit:

Well, you guys aren't going to believe what I just did. I just put my ELB in without the cap on and hit it.

meremoth...I leave my elb in if I am using the cloud inverted on my Ion. If it is upright I tend to take it out between sessions (not hits). For one session I just leave it in.

If I have the temp up high, as soon as I put a freshly packed ELB in, I smell it. Smells so good, and I'm retardedly-overly-analytical and OCD and I feel like some goodness might be vaping off without me hitting it. That's probably just me being paranoid.

Anyway, I've decided to start turning my Cloud down at the start cause of that and immediately hitting it when I insert it. I almost want to take it back out, between hits, but that'd be stupid, right?

Anyway, just throwing this out there, my unit can get really hot. I heard some units didn't get hot enough, and that's most definitely not an issue with mine.

I take my ELB out between hits, and even stir it with my e-pik :-)

Edit: actually I leave it in for the first 2 - 3 hits, then I start taking it out and stirring.

So I notice I get ABV particles (grind mine up supah fine) on the inside of the of the top glass piece. What do you guys use to remove that? I've been turning it upside down and using a qtip with iso. Then I dip a qtip in water and then rub it again, then I use the dry side finish. I always make sure that no pieces of cotton get stuck in there. Is there a better way then that?

I also make sure to nothing is stuck to the outside of my ELB before I put it in. I use a toothbrush to brush the outside off before I stick it in.

So I gotta try a Hydratube out, since all you guys are ranting and raving about how I'm only using the Mouthpiece. If I got one right now I think I would want to get an Evolver because they look like they have the thickest glass and look the most durable. The website states the Evolver is 5 mm thick, but doesn't say how thick the other ones are. Anyone know?

But I think I might wait a little bit cause SM said the have new ones coming out soon. I guess how soon they're coming out will determine whether or not I'll go ahead and get a HT now. Maybe one of the VX guys will be able to confirm soon.

As far as the Hydracirc vs the Hydratree, what do you guys prefer?

This is basically what I do, too. I think it works just fine.

I absolutely love my Evolver Hydracirc.

I prefer circs to trees. Evolver glass is tough stuff . . . :)

HOLY MAHATMA GANDHI SWEET BABY JESUS AND SANTA CLAUS!!!

That was insane! My heart dropped so many times I thought I was gonna pass-out.

I'm sold. I think I'm going to have to pick up an Evolver Hydracirc unless someone can convince me to go for the Hydratree instead.

For what it's worth, I have a early Evolver Hydracirc and I love it. Though honestly it has taken a second seat to the Ion. I can only speak for mine but my Evolver HT is thick and solid :2c:. I'm pretty sure if I wanted to I could smash the Ion with the Evolver. Hurts just thinking about it.

Slow day in the thread today.

Yeah i'd personally get the Mobius Ion Matrix before i got the hydracirc.

How many people here have the showercap? I wonder how it compares to the "normal" HT's...

I don't have a showercap, but I already have a opinion about it. Not a good one. People who have it love it for it's weaker diffusion. I say, why not just fill less water into other HTs to achieve the same effect? Or tilt the HT. There are many ways to lessen diffusion. Next part of my opinion are minor functionalities. For example, how do you get the water out completely? I've already seen one owner here asking for the same thing. You try to empty it and it just flows into the overflow guard area. And getting water out of there seems impossible to me. Another thing is the overflow guard - I think the one in showercaps is the least protecting one. If I imagine water overflowing from the perc, it would drip down right in the middle. And the guard does not have an umbrella, so it would go right into the Cloud. And the last thing is aesthetics, it seems to me too big and complex to utilize just that one tiny perc.

So in my opinion, the showercap isn't better in anything over any other HT. If someone knows any advantage of cap over other HT's, I'm all ears.

Cheers mate...this lives me with the Cric vs Tree debate... tree has more diffusion I reckon?

I looked up the specs of the Ion and it has the same thickness as the Evolver. Disregarding those badass videos showing they're built like tanks, personally what makes you think they're more durable than the Ion?

And how much better do you consider the Ion?

I can't speak for everybody else, but I've been in a Cloud-induced coma for the better part of the day.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a contest between my HydraLine and OG circ. I keep going back and forth between them. Back and forth and back and forth......

And the winner is........ Me. :ko:

:peace:

Well, since you won that means the other two lost, and you, being a winner and all, don't want to be around losers. So you can just send me the losers, I don't mind hanging out with them.

I'll PM you my shipping info. :brow:

I keep waiting for the "I got something brand new and it's fucking awesome" phase to go away, but it isn't. Every time I use the Cloud I fall deeper and deeper in love. Best purchase I've made in an extremely long time.

You have a cric correct?
They are similar, but different structures. Both diffuse in a circle and can have air input from all possible directions. I have a VXL Circ, also a china bubbler with a tree. That tree is far lower quality than the circ, but it still gives the "tree experience". I think it works in reality just like how i imagined theoreticaly.
They both have similar overal appearance, function and use.

Imo they generally differ in bubbling action more when you pull less. And become more similar to each othen when you pull stronger.
Trees have more diffusion when you pull strong (and get lower levels to fire). Circ have more even diffusion in wide range of pull speed.

Differences:

For bringing the air down trees use several arms and circs one dome.
-Arms can be more fragile
-When not tilted, a circ bubbles will be firing in circular motion as hydrodynamics inside the dome is connected in contrast to arms. It looks like alive when the bubble "spawn point" runs around and changes direction randomly. Arms will fire randomly from each arm independently. No "spawn point" running around could be seen there.

Slit orientation:
-Circs can't have horizontal slits while still being durable. Vertical slits fire BIGGER bubbles with stronger pull. And allow a lot of them being in a circle to fire together at once. If you don't pull hard enough then it will do that "spawn point" effect that trees don't do.
-Trees usually have horizontal slits. These slits will fire always big bubbles of the same size. Each arm has several slits above each other. So it fires MORE bubbles with stronger pull. To achieve this "leveling" effect with vertical slits, gridding is needed.
-VXL trees have vertical slits, so they should behave like circs in this point.
