Cool. No big deal, but she definitely is. IMO very much so. She and I have had several PM discussions, neat Lady at many levels if you asked me....even if you didn't I guess.

Good folk. FWIW I don't think she uses that avatar because she's a Stones fan.....

On a rare serious note, I advise more research on the effects of clean DVs.....science can't be denied you know. Each of us has to do our little part for the collective good. Suck it up, dude, load and go!

OF

OF, thanks for the kind words. BTW it isn't the rolling stones tongue at all, my avatar is from the rocky horror picture show woohoo.

Ganga all is good but I do not like the word dude. I have tried to alert people to be being a female by putting a female sign next to my words under my avatar. I guess most don't notice. If you men would stop using woman as your avatar we wouldn't have this issue .

I have asked my son why he calls people dude cause I guess this a the new youngin' way to do things, and he said cause he doesn't or doesn't have to remember names. So I guess in this new generation everybody's names is dude.

Krizzle, I hope it was just a dead battery and it trickle charges back and all will be good. If not I hope the local store will just change it out.

I really don't think the colour matters , mine were black and had the same problem . you might not hear from DaVinci until monday don't give up [i'm sure you won't] . I can see why you would want to work with the dealer if your in Europe . My last replacement came from DaVinci and this time it was charged and I'm pretty sure someone tested it because it was set at the highest temp out of the box , if you can get the shop to do the same for you it would be great. Do you have a backup vape of some type . it really blows to have to burn when waiting on a Vape . :(

EDIT: I second what Dreamerr said . but also had the thought that my newest DV dosn't need to have the main power switch on inorder to charge , you might want to try it like that for a long charge . don't really know if it would change anything but worth the time to at least try just in case .

RUDE BOY,

Hi Very high
Would the dead battery/trickle charge take longer than 3hrs or am I safe to assume its dead? Should the screen ever go blank even when you've been using it and depleted the charge? Or is it just the LED screen shows the blank battery icon? Thankfully I have a MFLB so my vaping needs are met. I'm still not the biggest fan, just the feel of the da vinci in your hand and you know its a better vape! Damn you bad luck got me :p thanks for the replies guys and gals.

I am not by any means a battery person...I am lucky I know how to put them in stuff. Yes it will take way longer then three hours according to what some of the gurus have written. In either respect there is no harm to let it stay plugged in.

I am not sure with the new models about the blank screen cause a few have reported this issue. I don't know if it has any real effect on the working of the DV just an electronic issue from what I can see from posts. I have never ever had that happen to mine but I have the original.

Thanks again for the reply. I will try and leave it on all day tomorrow and see what happens. I cant get back to the post office until Tuesday to return it anyways.

If there's no display you also probably have no LED when you hit the temperature power button . Its not going to power up and if it does by some chance you couldn't set the temp you want to vape at .
I Haven't read of anyone having no display and a working unit ,I searched around when my first unit died
on me . The good news is the problem isn't reported very often . Maybe Krizzle and I just have the same
Dumb Luck .

Cause it is now glued on with resin. Pump your temp up all the way and after a few minutes try to take it off. I try not to over tighten. I am not always successful. I had a hell of a time after I cleaned it cause I tightened it to much and never thought I would get it off even with heat had an issue. I had to move the rubber to get it off. It is best to tighten then slightly loosen for it not to get glued that bad.

Hi all! new to the forum as far as posting goes but have been reading forever. anyway, just ordered a new V2 da vinci as my third vape- I've only ever used a iolite as far as vapes go so am very new to vapes though have had 2 iolites for a few years believe it or not so hoping the da vinci is a step up in many aspects. looks similar to iolite without the butane needed which I'm looking forward to.
For maximum options I'm thinking of getting an extra wall plug and car charger- has anyone used the car charger that is available and does it work ok for charging the da vinci? I love the charge while using option of the da vinci and the temp control for desired effects. I'm good at cleaning the iolite and taking it apart for cleaning so will figure out all of the little parts that make up the da vinci and keep it clean for best use over time. I was wanting to purchase the ascent as my first battery powered vape but it looks to new and untested as of yet.
The iolite is a conduction vape and I'm assuming the da vinci has some conduction going on??as well as convection. is the draw rate about the same on both models as far as understanding the air pull rate to get the best extraction, I think I've read that the da vinci has less restricted air flow- they are both factory set at 375 , 376 for the iolite so that seems similar. the grind needs to be super fine for the iolite to work best but seems to not be recommended for the da vinci so I'll have to re adjust my grind regiment or get a finer screen for it. Thanks for reading and I look forward to posting about my new vape when I get it figured out... Bless

Hi and welcome to FC,
The car charger works great. I highly recommend getting one.

You are correct the DaVinci is a hybrid using both convection and conduction. Adjustable temperature control which will give you much greater control over your experience. And is a big upgrade over the Iolite IMHO. Congrats on getting a kick-ass vape. I think you will enjoy it

Thanks 1 great underdog! I appreciate it. I'll get the car charger on order and consider another extra wall charger for later if it is needed. I'm so exited to try another vape out and keep the iolite for a back up or give to a friend...

I wish I could give credit for this little gem of a tip but I don't have time to go back and find the post.....Unscrew the top screen holder just a bit (maybe a thread or two) so it makes better contact with the oven when the lid is closed. And for an extra bonus it makes unscrewing it all the way for cleaning much easier when the unit is cold.

DaVinci,

I just purchased my first vape, and I chose the DaVinci unit. First off, let me say I LOVE my DaVinci and I made this account specifically for this thread.

But I have a question. I purchased the unit from a local head shop on 5/6/2013. There was no receipt, and even if there was it's the little narrow tiny kind with blue letters that look like they came from an adding machine (no item number or description, they just punch in the price). I registered my unit online, but when reading the warranty info i learned that to service the product you must have proof of purchase. What should I do? Heaven forbid my DaVinci breaks, I want to be able to have it serviced.

Thank you!!

Just call the company and make sure it is registered. I never even bothered registering mine. They are a good company so I doubt you will have an issue. Personally the old me would go back the the shop and get a real receipt even if is hand written on a letterhead.

Welcome to the forum.

First I wanted to say what dreamerr said " make sure it is Registered " .
I had one i recieved as a X-Mas gift, It had to be replaced . The e-bay seller it was from told me to lie to DaVinci and tell them I bought it at a LHS when I asked them to give me a receipt . Told them the truth and they replaced it . if you can't get a receipt let them know now maybe that could help later . I hope you never have ta return yours .

I think you need a serial number to register your DaVinci .

Thanks guys for the responses. I've registered my vape already, I'm just nervous about not having a receipt should the need arise.

Understandable for sure, but being nervous is unlikely to change anything of value. Most will not need service (based on history), I'd cross that bridge if and when the time comes?

Between now and then (and again I think the chances of problems is slim) you should be enjoying your purchase I think.

Best wishes.

Had a bit of a scare with the DV yesterday. I was using it to decarboxylate some herb for future edibles and I set the unit on it's back with the display facing up. It was set to 210F. I checked it 5 minutes later and it looked like the display had burned out. It was all black. I thought it was busted but I let it cool and the display went back to normal. Lesson learned. Never set the DV on it's back while on.

The LCD display is the most temperature sensitive part. The Liquid Crystals stop doing what they're supposed to (responding to the charges on the plating in the window) but within reason it recovers fine.

The design puts this part as far from the heat as possible in that small box. But you defeat that when you lay it down allowing the heat inside to rise up to the front panel (now top) and collect.

IIRC the typical 'black out' temperature is pretty low, 50 to 70C?

I'm good at inadvertently defeating functional design.

When I saw the screen my thoughts were 'crapski I broke it!' and 'come oooooon Ascent!'

I took my Da Vinci with me this week again to see some friends. They are all combusters and i was the only one solely vaping. They do love to vaporize though. I passed it around all evening/night and never did one person pass it down. They only rolled about 2 joints or so the whole night.

I have gotten countless sessions (1 session every 30/40 minutes) out of it, turning it off when i felt most of the herb has been extracted. Usually this was after 5 minutes at 185 degrees.

The next morning i turned it on just because i was curious what the battery level said. It was still on 3 stripes (probably on the edge of being at 2 stripes, but still)! I am kinda impressed with this as i thought i would only get about 3 or 4 sessions out of it.

This only makes me more curious about the Ascent, but for now this is absolutely my favorite on-the-go device. The open airflow makes it almost like hitting a joint. I think that is why my friends also like it that much.

For the people who wonder about the snorkel - if it's worth it. I think it is. I only use the regular mouthpiece if i really had to for stealth reasons, or if it's just more practical to use a short one for whatever reason. 90% of the time i use the Snorkel.

+1 for the snorkel. I've had it about for a week now, and I'm really liking it.

Hi Very high
Received my third Da Vinci replacement this morning. Had a quick check and looks like its working fine :) happy days. Question for the experts here and apologies it its already been asked. What is the best temp to set it for the illegal in some places but legal in a few others herb that I'm not sure if I can talk about on the forum? Bob Marley was partial to this wonderful herb :) thanks in advance. In work right now so won't be able to use my DV till this evening.
