Are there any good Vaporizer Review sites?

Kuroth1

Get your Freak on....
I have always wished FC had a Review section AND not everyone could post there..(So it would not become a pissing contest) but only selected people could post official reviews and scores..

Yes I know I can see what people think about a specific model by reading that models thread but
98 pages??????? My eyes Bleed and I feel like this when I do that.. :mmmm:

You see what I am saying..

Are there any other web sites that give good honest reviews about a large number of different models?

Thanks!

How about reading all the information already posted. You know, the stuff about how to perform a search properly?

It's an idea that has been floated around before, and I am really in support of it.

But it's kind of a sticky situation. Once we start up a section for user reviews, we run into lots of snags. What do we do for users who may have a connection with the company? What does a "connection" to the company define? What do we do with reviews that we suspect may be biased? Do we do a approval system beforehand? Who is in control of that? Do we turn off commenting, or bring along the whole can of worms that might open?

It's going to be a lot of work, setting up this section and the policies around it. I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the works right now, but the site staff here is very busy. This forum is scaling very quickly in size. I would really like to see the section make it to the light of day.

In the meantime though it is difficult to find an unbiased review site. Most are owned by the major vapor distributors. There are a couple good ones I have seen.

I was really impressed by the quality of writing and general honesty of TorontoVapes blog. They update very often as well. I like the writing style of vaporizerreview.com. It only has a couple reviews and hasn't been updated in a while though. Blissvapor is promising but I don't like the layout or ad placement.

Stay away from the Vape Critic though.

Everyone's going to have a different opinion. Sure, you can find people who you tend to agree with, as most people on this board all are looking for the same thing, but that being said, not everyone cares about the same things, so you would need to find the reviews of a person who is dynamically critical about a product.
Good luck with that, I can't even find a dedicated following of individuals who are more interested in function than form.

Just find a person who says things you tend to agree with, and search for all of their posts.

Or you can try the products yourself.

Or you could go my route, and try to understand how each design influences each aspect of using vaporizers, and then make educated guesses.

That being said, you'd most likely have to pay someone to get a well written review site setup.
And I have better things to do.

OO,
I like your idea. I haven't played around with the search function much yet on FC but on other forums I frequent the search function tends not to work very well. It is difficult to locate specific information about a specific vape as far as I can tell.

Perhaps the closest thing to what you are looking for is thevapecritic.com - I'm not sure what people think of him on this forum but I must say I like his reviews very much and find him to be honest and reliable. No doubt though he has a commercial interest in promoting different vapes through Vapeworld but that is no crime in my books.

A lot of the other youtube reviews are unreliable imo and lack the professionalism and objectivity offered by The Vapecritic. I watched a review by Vapelife Will yesterday and I was not impressed (although he does seem like a funny guy).

It would be cool if you could view posts in a thread sorted in different ways, now its just chronological order, but what if you could order the posts in a thread by # of likes instead? Kind of like how google orders search results? Seems you could just put a filter on the thread results and sort by many criteria? Then there is no section to make and manage, just a new way to order posts so people can find what they want.

Thanks guys.. All good comments and ideas...

And I will try and search a little more but like Mr Gweilo 420 said, I find the search function is not that great... IMHO.....

i would like to see an "extract" feature that could show the meat of a thread and ignore the chaff and chatter. good data scrolls past too fast. interesting AI problem.

How about using 'review' as a search term? Think about what kind of things people say when giving their reviews, things like 'value'.

If you can't use the search function effectively, be creative or search google on how to use their (or most other) search engines to find useful info on individual sites.

I agree that there's a ton of really valuable information on this site. But I also agree that the search function is only somewhat useful.

I think a review section would be really useful. Maybe only allow people who have met certain criteria to post, like the site does in the classifieds section?

I like to think we do a good job: http://www.portablevaporizers.net/

Not just reviews but all sorts of other information. It is a work in progress, we don't have the widest range of reviews out there but we are working on it.

FC is a fantastic resource, and if you're prepared to do a lot of reading then you really can't beat it. If you have several hundred people all voicing their opinions and sharing any problems they encounter with a particular product, I think that will always offer a more accurate over all view than any single reviewer, or small group of reviewers ever could.

Salutations,

Often enough it's true Google is a better search tool and since i use Google Images it helps when pictures are being shared. A tabloïd selection tool would be nice as i too find that it's not convenient having to read whole threads looking for information entrenched somewhere.

This is like the question I always wanted to ask, but didn't even think think about, assuming that it could never happen.
Since there arent so many trustworthy review sites, I often search youtube cause at least I can see the products at work, how big they are, some clouds etc.
To the OP: there's also Vaporpedia to look for something not opinion based like on a forum, hopefully and certainly done by people who care about the item in question. The risk is e clear to everyone here: if you read most entries every vape is awesome on its own way and the risk is to develop VAS :)

Don't you think Fuck Combustion is the ultamate review site , I DO .
you get true input from people as they use the products . IMO you can learn alot more when a larger group of users discuss the pros and cons of a vaporizer over pages of a thread and in some cases years of use as oppossed to a paragraph from someone who may or may not have a clue . my:2c:

I don't want to contradict a fellow Rude Boy. :D
I know what you say but not a lot of people like to read so much. Not everyone of us is a "Vape nerd" and wants to read everything, just which is the last&best model usual. As for any other product for entertainment there could be sites who judge products. If the thing attracts more and more attention by the market, and I think it will, I can imagine that sort of site coming up more and more. The biggest issue with the ones I see around now, is that they are just for fun (or just to get a review unit?) and they review just a few models. C'mon there are sites about fucking shitty farting cars that poison us everyone why not vaporizers?
We could create some sort of best of. The most reliable member should receive all the models on sale by FC sponsors and start reviewing them. Who should do that?
Me!!!! :p
