Do you vape bowls of pure kief?

I Vape kief In my launch box and love it! It does seem a little harsher on the throat,but that may be due to a much higher % of THC being delivered all at once. Or maybe not. In any case I'll take a little harshness in the throat to get that soaring high kief gives me.

All jokes aside - my friend did that, years ago - he gagged, and it was fun to watch. That was at least 10 or 15 years ago.

Well keepsake, I had never vaped kief straight before, but I tried it because you asked about it. I have a mixture of kief from the trim of the 6 varieties of cannabis I'm smoking, plus grinder kief to compare.
I first tried the trim kief. I gently hand screened it myself and it is a beautiful blond. I loaded a quarter bowl in a stock dbv wand. I took one just massive hit that had me floored, and coughing for several minutes, but after that I took my normal quick 5-6 second hit and for the same lungful, for me, the kief seemed smoother. It caked up a bit at first then, crumbled a bit, but stayed sticky and chunky as it vaped. The flavor, while very intense and wonderful, lacked the freshness and complexity of it's bud counterparts. The perceived "freshness difference" could have been the result of differences in storage. The bud has been kept airtight. The kief is just in a ziplock, often left open. I know, I should put it in glass and keep it closed

The grinder kief was a mix of Green Ribbon and Green Crack. It melted and bubbled so I only took a fairly small hit before I scraped it out, as I thought it may clog the screen. That stuff tasted amazing, much better than the trim kief, and although it may be because of the small hit, I felt it also was smoother than the bud.
This was pretty cool to try out, and I got really stoned, but for me, I think I will stay with just mixing the kief with bud. For me, a 70/30 mixture of bud/trim kief is perfect for an evening vape, as I find the trim kief to have a more sleepy effect than the bud.
I think that my comparison may be somewhat flawed as the temperatures for optimum vaporization of a particular kief is different (seemed higher to me) than it's corresponding bud, and I didn't pursue dialing in the sweet spot for kief and I wasn't comparing bowls of the same mass. It was an imperfect comparison, but I did get the feeling that for these particular buds, and the corresponding kief, that the kief was smoother. A different cannabis and kief combo could be different for all I know. I have only tested what I have, but I may try it again as I have a new 14mm set-up, and my above comparison was on the stock 18mm.

Yes. I have a Solo (my first vape, about a month in and am a total convert now) and filled the end of the stem with kief with just a little plant material to keep it from sucking through. I use a screen in the stem, inverted so that the middle pushes up like some other people have suggested here. It worked very well, and the bowl lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. I've combusted bowls of kief in the past but was always disappointed how quickly it melted away, so whenever I had some kief I just used it to dust the top of a bowl on occasion.
I always knew there had to be a better way than trying to burn this stuff, and vaporizing seems to be ideal for this kind of delicate organic material that's bursting with THC. Flame kills it, but vaporising at the right temperature gave me hit after hit, each cloud hitting me like a hammer. The taste of the kief wasn't as sweet as vaping the buds where this kief came from, but it wasn't harsh; more like the taste of the last decent vapor you could get from a bowl, which is usually not the best tasting IMO but not especially irritating. But it was powerful, a level above hash and way more than attempting to smoke it ever did for me- I had trouble finishing the bowl before the timer ran out on the Solo. So, when I vaporize kief now I'll add some to crushed plant material and maybe mix in some bubble hash with it. Still get hit after hit of powerful clouds, but the taste is much sweeter, and it's not quite as debilitating as vaping a full bowl of glittering trichomes. But it's nice to know I can make use of this stuff and go there if I want, that is if I have no plans and want to melt on the couch for a few hours ...
BTW, as to your question, my guess is that vaping kief tastes different and usually not as sweet as the buds because you're getting a much higher concentration of THC per weight and are mostly tasting that instead of the other chemicals in the plant, some of which contribute to the taste and smell. If you purify THC to very high concentrations and eliminate the plant material and other chemicals, it doesn't taste all that great, but it's obviously much stronger than concentrations in high grade bud. I personally love the taste of quality buds (mmmm gs cookies), which is a big reason why I chose the Solo, so for me I want some flavor to my vapor and use kief to mix in with other tasty goodies. I don't regret trying a full bowl of kief, however, and I'm sure I'll do it again at some point.

I occasionally vape a kief bowl or mix it w flowers...it hits u harder but I feel like it creates more goop that could clog things up if u vape kief bowls too much

So I finally tried vaping some pure kief with my new DBV.
It tasted great and got me really medicated so obviously I enjoyed it but the next time I do it I'm either going to try it with bud or put a smaller amount of keif in the bowl. I filled the bowl with as much kief as I normally do with bud (1/3 of the way filled) and I think it was too much. When I pulled from my bong I noticed that it wasn't pulling as easily as before. It felt as if the screen was clogged a bit but I knew it wasn't. I continued with the bowl and just had to stir it up a bit more and pull slightly harder. Overall I really liked it and can't wait to do it again. I didn't notice a difference in harshness at all. I don't plan on ever smoking kief again because vaping it tasted so good. My transition from smoking to vaping has really improved in the past couple days. The tips I've been getting from members of this site has been incredible.

I'd like to do this but I fear to burn the kief in direct contact with the trench while the rest of the kief is unvaped. Maybe they key is just to put a little?

The good thing about kief is that it's already finely ground. I can put just a little in,or fill it about 3/4 full...just don't pack it at all! The loser,more "airy" fill is damn near perfect in my 'box. The parts in contact with the screen will get hotter,so I shake it every hit. Sometimes the kief gets kinda stuck together and a little stir is needed. Please do it gently and don't use a metal stick. A toothpick or pretty much anything besides metal is safest,the 'boxes screen is very fine and metal can tear it pretty easy.
The kief buzz is going to be a bit different than a weed buzz,but the kief is o-so-good! Experiment and see what works best for you,because that's the important thing right.
