Yeah, I've got a some unprotected cells coming, as well as a 2-cell protection circuit. I've also got that same tenergy pack coming as a back-up plan if things go tango-uniform.

OF, thanks for the draw numbers. The protection circuit I've got coming is rated for 3.5A, protection kicks in at 5A, so it should work...

You're welcome. Sounds good to me. I like the fallback plan in place part.....

Tango-Uniform? It's been a while since I've heard that one. Wonder if it's a private joke? Anyone else get it?

Yup, look a few posts up.

FWIW I think it's primarily Navy? I don't think the AF, Army or Coasties use it as slang?

And 'the phonetic alphabet' is becoming much less common as radio get better. Soon I bet nobody without gray will know it?

just cup it. either use a small to go cup and the stem sticks up like a straw ore PV has a stealth adapter that you attach a straw to for a bigger cup

cup is a funny idea lol

what about swapping stems. it seems like taking a stem out is a messy transaction. what if i want to quickly put the thing away. like if i have a preloaded stem that i want to use for sessions all day.

you could just leave the stem in it all day and turn the heat on and off all day. if using multiple stems throughout the day the are posts a page or 2 back about using MFLB battery caps to cap your stems you are traveling with. unfortunately pulling a partially used stem on the go isn't very easy

Sez who? Try it, you can do it easily.....just be careful not to burn yourself. I've done it a number of times when I'm out in the garden with it, I don't like carrying it around with the stem installed since broken glass out there is not good.

I usually load and cap the stem and take it out, then pull it before coming in. Usually I just dump the ABV in those cases.

A while back I posted the link to the 400F plus rated vinyl caps I got specially to allow recapping the hot stem. Even empty they let me drop it back in a shirt pocket hot without worry about a burn.

yeah you cant leave the stem in really.

im thinking caps are the way to go. i dont keep AVB so i like to get it really brown...

Yep, just be aware the normal ones aren't rated for hot stems..... You need the harder ones.

unless you will blow on it until it is cool to the touch I would say no. look at the other caps on the link OF posted, they are only rated for 140f for 10 minutes and they are much closer to a mflb cap then the high temp ones, that is if those aren't the exact same caps mf uses

Looking for some advice on cleaning my PVHE GonG stem. Until I got it a weeks or so ago I had been using my stock stems & to clean them I just plug both ends with my fingers & shake a little iso back & forth until the stem is clean. I prefer a clean stem so I clean them too often to make it worth my time to evap them each time so I just save it in a mason jar. I would prefer to keep using this method but the notches in the PVHE make it impossible for me to get a tight seal with just my finger. I know all the other methods for cleaning including hot chocolate, torching, etc & will resort to them if necessary so please don't suggest any of those.

My first thought was to use a MFLB battery cap but then I realized the iso will just run out down the air channels so the seal needs to be made inside the bowl instead of outside.

Currently I am thinking about using a rubber stopper but I have a few concerns. First I have checked the OSHA data sheet on iso & based on that I think I need to use either Butyl or Nitrile rubber as the "breakthrough time" for each of those is over 8 hours. My main concern though is not about breakthrough but the iso leaching something out of the rubber. My second concern is if I use a harder rubber the taper of the stopper will prevent a tight seal because of the 6 air notches.

My last resort is to use Dreamerr's method of keeping a designated jar full of iso to soak my stem in & save that until it is nice & dirty then evap it. I would prefer not using this method as the tackiness left on the outside of the stem once its dry is a waste of perfectly good oil & if I clean once a week that works out to be a decent amount of oil lost before I would evap it.

If anyone has any experience with either a rubber stopper sealing up a PHVES or knows about the safety of iso & rubber I would greatly appreciate any insight you could give.
